'Adrift' in the Bible

adrift among the dead, like corpses lying in the grave, whom you remember no more, and who are cut off from your power.

Then the soldiers cut the ropes that held the lifeboat and set it adrift.

Three times I was beaten with a rod. Once I received a stoning. Three times I suffered shipwreck. A night and a day I spent adrift in the open sea.
