then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus was conceal'd by the crowd which he pass'd thro', and so got out of the temple.
then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them, many good works have I shewed you from my father; for which of those works would you stone me? the Jews answered him, saying, it is not for any good work that we stone thee; but for blasphemy, inasmuch as you, being a man, pretend to be a God.
then they dragg'd him out of the city, and stoned him: the false witnesses having laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul. Thus they stoned Stephen, while he was calling upon God, and saying, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit."
