'Asking' in the Bible
“Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
But Jesus answered, “You don’t know what you’re asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink?”“We are able,” they said to Him.
A crowd was sitting around Him and told Him, “Look, Your mother, Your brothers, and Your sisters are outside asking for You.”
Now the woman was Greek, a Syrophoenician by birth, and she kept asking Him to drive the demon out of her daughter.
But Jesus said to them, “You don’t know what you’re asking. Are you able to drink the cup I drink or to be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?”
After three days, they found Him in the temple complex sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.
and sent them to the Lord, asking, “Are You the One who is to come, or should we look for someone else?”
He said to them, “Where is your faith?”They were fearful and amazed, asking one another, “Who can this be? He commands even the winds and the waves, and they obey Him!”
“So I say to you, keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
After blindfolding Him, they kept asking, “Prophesy! Who hit You?”
So he kept asking Him questions, but Jesus did not answer him.
and released the one they were asking for, who had been thrown into prison for rebellion and murder. But he handed Jesus over to their will.
They were looking for Jesus and asking one another as they stood in the temple complex: “What do you think? He won’t come to the festival, will He?”
Jesus knew they wanted to question Him, so He said to them, “Are you asking one another about what I said, ‘A little while and you will not see Me; again a little while and you will see Me’?
Jesus answered, “Are you asking this on your own, or have others told you about Me?”
They called out, asking if Simon, who was also named Peter, was lodging there.
asking him to do them a favor against Paul, that he might summon him to Jerusalem. They were preparing an ambush along the road to kill him.
always asking in my prayers that if it is somehow in God’s will, I may now at last succeed in coming to you.
And Isaiah says boldly:I was foundby those who were not looking for Me;I revealed Myselfto those who were not asking for Me.
Eat everything that is sold in the meat market, asking no questions for conscience’ sake,
