'First' in the Bible
I composed the first discourse, O Theophilus, concerning all things which Jesus began both to do and to teach,
To you first God, having raised up his servant, has sent him, blessing you in turning each one of you from your wickedness.
But Jacob, having heard of there being corn in Egypt, sent out our fathers first;
And having found him, he brought him to Antioch. And so it was with them that for a whole year they were gathered together in the assembly and taught a large crowd: and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.
And having passed through a first and second guard, they came to the iron gate which leads into the city, which opened to them of itself; and going forth they went down one street, and immediately the angel left him.
And Paul and Barnabas spoke boldly and said, It was necessary that the word of God should be first spoken to you; but, since ye thrust it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, lo, we turn to the nations;
But the Jews excited the women of the upper classes who were worshippers, and the first people of the city, and raised a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and cast them out of their coasts.
Simon has related how God first visited to take out of the nations a people for his name.
and thence to Philippi, which is the first city of that part of Macedonia, a colony. And we were staying in that city certain days.
And the first day of the week, we being assembled to break bread, Paul discoursed to them, about to depart on the morrow. And he prolonged the discourse till midnight.

namely, whether Christ should suffer; whether he first, through resurrection of the dead, should announce light both to the people and to the nations.
But the centurion, desirous of saving Paul, hindered them of their purpose, and commanded those who were able to swim, casting themselves first into the sea, to get out on land;
