'Hanging' in the Bible
And after this Joshua struck them down and killed them, and he hanged them on five trees. And they were hanging on the trees until the evening.
Absalom was found in the presence of the servants of David [as he was] riding on the mule. The mule went under the thicket of the great oak tree, and his head [was] caught in the tree. He [was] left hanging between heaven and earth, and the mule which [was] under him went on.
When a certain man saw [it], he told Joab, and he said, "Look, I saw Absalom hanging in the oak tree!"
The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you killed [by] hanging [him] on a tree.
And we [are] witnesses of all [the things] that he did both in the land of the Judeans and in Jerusalem, whom they also executed [by] hanging [him] on a tree.
And when the local people saw the creature hanging from his hand, they began saying to one another, "Doubtless this man is a murderer whom, [although he] was rescued from the sea, Justice has not permitted to live!"
