'Luxury' in the Bible
May their table [with all its abundance and luxury] become a snare [to them];And when they are in peace [secure at their sacrificial feasts], may it become a trap.
Luxury is not fitting for a fool;Much less for a slave to rule over princes.
Against all the ships of TarshishAnd against all the beautiful craft.
But what did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing [entirely unsuited for the harsh wilderness]? Those who wear splendid clothing and live in luxury are in royal palaces!
Whereas she who lives for pleasure and self-indulgence is spiritually dead even while she still lives.
For all the nations have drunk from the wine of the passion of her [sexual] immorality, and the kings and political leaders of the earth have committed immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich by the wealth and economic power of her sensuous luxury.”
