'Mother' in the Bible

Simon’s mother-in-law was lying in bed with a fever, and they told Him about her at once.

Then His mother and His brothers came, and standing outside, they sent word to Him and called Him.

A crowd was sitting around Him and told Him, “Look, Your mother, Your brothers, and Your sisters are outside asking for You.”

He replied to them, “Who are My mother and My brothers?”

And looking about at those who were sitting in a circle around Him, He said, “Here are My mother and My brothers!

Whoever does the will of God is My brother and sister and mother.”

They started laughing at Him, but He put them all outside. He took the child’s father, mother, and those who were with Him, and entered the place where the child was.

Then she went out and said to her mother, “What should I ask for?”“John the Baptist’s head!” she said.

brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the girl. Then the girl gave it to her mother.

For Moses said:Honor your father and your mother; andWhoever speaks evil of father or mothermust be put to death.

But you say, ‘If a man tells his father or mother: Whatever benefit you might have received from me is Corban’” (that is, a gift committed to the temple),

“you no longer let him do anything for his father or mother.

For this reason a man will leavehis father and mother[and be joined to his wife],

You know the commandments:Do not murder;do not commit adultery;do not steal;do not bear false witness;do not defraud;honor your father and mother.”

“I assure you,” Jesus said, “there is no one who has left house, brothers or sisters, mother or father, children, or fields because of Me and the gospel,

There were also women looking on from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome.

Now Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses were watching where He was placed.

When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so they could go and anoint Him.
