'Pit' in the Bible
An infant will play beside the cobra’s pit,and a toddler will put his hand into a snake’s den.
But you will be brought down to Sheolinto the deepest regions of the Pit.
But you are thrown out without a grave,like a worthless branch,covered by those slain with the swordand dumped into a rocky pit like a trampled corpse.
Panic, pit, and trap await youwho dwell on the earth.
Whoever flees at the sound of panicwill fall into a pit,and whoever escapes from the pitwill be caught in a trap.For the windows are opened from heaven,and the foundations of the earth are shaken.
They will be gathered togetherlike prisoners in a pit.They will be confined to a dungeon;after many days they will be punished.
Indeed, it was for my own welfarethat I had such great bitterness;but Your love has delivered mefrom the Pit of destruction,for You have thrown all my sins behind Your back.
For Sheol cannot thank You;Death cannot praise You.Those who go down to the Pitcannot hope for Your faithfulness.
The prisoner is soon to be set free;he will not die and go to the Pit,and his food will not be lacking.
