'Tongue' in the Bible
So He took him away from the crowd privately. After putting His fingers in the man’s ears and spitting, He touched his tongue.
Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue set free, and he began to speak, praising God.
‘Father Abraham!’ he called out, ‘Have mercy on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this flame!’
Therefore my heart was glad,and my tongue rejoiced.Moreover, my flesh will rest in hope,
For it is written:As I live, says the Lord,every knee will bow to Me,and every tongue will give praise to God.
In the same way, unless you use your tongue for intelligible speech, how will what is spoken be known? For you will be speaking into the air.
and every tongue should confessthat Jesus Christ is Lord,to the glory of God the Father.
If anyone thinks he is religious without controlling his tongue, then his religion is useless and he deceives himself.
So too, though the tongue is a small part of the body, it boasts great things. Consider how large a forest a small fire ignites.
And the tongue is a fire. The tongue, a world of unrighteousness, is placed among the parts of our bodies. It pollutes the whole body, sets the course of life on fire, and is set on fire by hell.
but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
For the one who wants to love lifeand to see good daysmust keep his tongue from eviland his lips from speaking deceit,
