So the tongue is a small part of the body, yet boasteth great things. Behold how much fuel a little fire kindleth!

And great multitudes came to Him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others; and laid them at the feet of Jesus, and He healed them. So that the people wondered when they saw the dumb speaking, the maimed become sound, the lame walking, and the blind seeing: and they glorified the God of Israel.

And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake and praised God.

If any among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his heart, this man's devotion is vain.

"For he that would desire life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile;

and my flesh shall rest in hope,

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our several parts, defiling the whole body, inflaming the course of nature, and is set on fire by hell. For every kind of wild beasts, and birds, and reptiles, and fishes, is tamed and hath been tamed by mankind: but the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless God even the Father; and with it we curse men, who are made after the likeness of God: out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing.
