'Writing' in the Bible
And they put above his head the charge against him {in writing}: "This is Jesus, the king of the Jews."
and he asked for a writing tablet [and] wrote, saying, "John is his name." And they were all astonished.
writing [this letter] {to be delivered by them}: The apostles and the elders, brothers. To the brothers [who are] from among the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia. Greetings!
I am not writing these [things] to shame you, but admonishing [you] as my dear children.
But I have not made use of any of these [rights]. And I am not writing these [things] in order that it may be thus with me. For [it would be] better to me rather to die than [for] anyone to deprive me of my reason for boasting.
If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, he should recognize that [the things] which I am writing to you are of the Lord.
For we are not writing [anything] else to you except what you can read or also understand. But I hope that you will understand {completely},
Because of this, I am writing these [things] [although I] am absent, in order that [when I] am present I may not have to act severely according to the authority that the Lord has given me for building up and not for tearing down.
(Now [the things] which I am writing to you, behold, [I assure you] before God that I am not lying.)
See with what large letters I am writing to you with my [own] hand.
I am writing these [things] to you, hoping to come to you in a short time.
But if I am delayed, [I am writing] in order that you may know how one must conduct oneself in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and mainstay of the truth.
Confident of your obedience, I am writing to you [because I] know that you will do even beyond what I say.
Dear friends, this [is] already the second letter I am writing to you, in [both of] which I am attempting to stir up your sincere mind by a reminder,
My little children, I am writing these [things] to you in order that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous [one],
Dear friends, I am not writing a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the message which you have heard.
Again, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light already is shining.
I am writing to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven you on account of his name.
I am writing to you, fathers, because you have known the [One who is] from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have conquered the evil one.
And now I ask you, lady (not as [if I were] writing a new commandment to you, but [one] that we have had from the beginning), that we should love one another.
