Indeed, my life is consumed with griefand my years with groaning;my strength has failedbecause of my sinfulness,and my bones waste away.
Add days to the king’s life;may his years span many generations.
He made their days end in futility,their years in sudden disaster.
For in Your sight a thousand yearsare like yesterday that passes by,like a few hours of the night.
For all our days ebb away under Your wrath;we end our years like a sigh.
Our lives last seventy yearsor, if we are strong, eighty years.Even the best of them are struggle and sorrow;indeed, they pass quickly and we fly away.
