what benefit had you then in those things whereof you are now ashamed? since they terminated all in death.

But now since you have been set free from sin and have become [willing] slaves to God, you have your benefit, resulting in sanctification [being made holy and set apart for God’s purpose], and the outcome [of this] is eternal life.

Since I am speaking to those who understand law, brothers, are you unaware that the law has authority over someone as long as he lives?

For I speak to you who are Gentiles. Since then as I am an apostle to Gentiles, I glorify my ministry;

lest God should not spare you, since he did not spare even the natural branches.

Behold then the goodness and severity of God: upon them who have fallen, severity; upon thee goodness of God, if thou shalt abide in goodness, since otherwise thou also wilt be cut away.

nay, even the Jews, if they don't continue still incredulous, shall be grafted in: since divine power can graft them in again.

For you [Gentiles] were cut off from a natural wild olive tree and [then], contrary to the natural process, were grafted into a cultivated olive tree. [Since that has happened], how much more likely is it for these [Jews], who are the natural branches, to be grafted [back] into their own olive tree [again]?

why then dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou think contemptibly of thy brother? since we shall all of us be brought before the judgment-seat of Christ.

But now, with no further place for work in these regions, and since I have longed for many years to come to you—

[Since] you people were bought for a price [i.e., the blood of Christ], do not become slaves to [other] people.

About unmarried women I have no command from the Lord, but I will give you my opinion as of one who is trustworthy, since I have had mercy shown me by the Lord.

For also since there are things called gods, whether in heaven or on the earth, as there are many gods and many lords,

Every man who prays or prophesies [i.e., speaks in a public assembly, since prophecy was always for the benefit of others] with his [physical] head covered [Note: The Greek word here denotes "something hanging down" and could refer to long hair or a cloth shawl], shows disrespect for his head [i.e., Christ].

But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, since that is one and the same as having her head shaved.

If a woman will not wear a veil, let her also cut off her hair. But since it is a dishonor to a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, let her wear a veil.

Now in giving the following instruction I do not praise you, since you come together not for the better but for the worse.

But since we are being judged, we are [also] being disciplined by the Lord, so that we do not have to be condemned along with the world.

If the foot says, "Since I'm not a hand, I'm not part of the body," that does not make it any less a part of the body, does it?

since that which distinguished the first had no glory, when compared to that of the other, which far excell'd it.

Therefore, since we have this ministry, just as we received mercy [from God, granting us salvation, opportunities, and blessings], we do not get discouraged nor lose our motivation.

So we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are unseen; for the things which are visible are temporal [just brief and fleeting], but the things which are invisible are everlasting and imperishable. For we groan while we are in this tent, since we are weighed down, because we do not want to be unclothed, but clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.

Therefore, since we know what it means to fear the Lord, we try to persuade people. We ourselves are perfectly known to God. I hope we are also really known to your consciences.

So, from now on we will not regard any person by worldly standards, even though we [once] regarded Christ that way. But we will not regard Him [that way] anymore. [Note: Paul seems to be saying that before his conversion he viewed Christ on the basis of His family, His education, His position, etc., but since his conversion he does not view Him that way anymore].

For even if I grieved you with my letter, I do not regret it—even though I did regret it since I saw that the letter grieved you, yet only for a little while.

Since then indeed I wrote to you, not on account of the one having done the wrong, nor on account of the one having suffered the wrong, but in order that your zeal, which is in our behalf to you before God, might be made manifest.

For if I have been doing some boasting about you to him, I have never been ashamed of it. Moreover, since everything we told you was true, our boasting to Titus has also proved to be true.

So here is my opinion on this matter: It is to your advantage, since you made a good start last year both in your giving and your desire to give,

because he not only accepted our request, but since he was very eager, he is coming to you of his own accord.

since we are careful of this, that no one should blame us in our management of this abundant liberality;
