And if any one contend in the public games, he gains not the crown unless he contend fairly.
And every one that enters the lists is temperate in all things: they indeed do it that they may receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible one. I therefore so run, not as unobserved: I so fight, not as one that beateth the air: but I mortify my body and bring it into subjection, least after having preached to others, I myself should be rejected.
Know ye not, that those, who run in a race, do all indeed run, but one only receiveth the prize? So run that ye may obtain.
For bodily exercise profiteth little, but piety is profitable unto all things, having the promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come:
What! know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have from God? and ye are not your own, for ye are bought with a price. Glorify God therefore in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
Now no chastening seems for the present to be matter of joy but of grief: and yet afterwards it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those that are exercised thereby. Lift up therefore the hands that hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees. And make strait paths for your feet, that what is lame may not be turned out of the way, but rather be healed.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished my race, I have kept the faith.
