If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me first. If ye were of the world, the world would love its own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
And indeed all, that are desirous to live godly in Christ Jesus, shall suffer persecution.
But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as a malefactor, or as an intermeddler with other people's affairs. But if any suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God herein.

Then will the righteous answer Him, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungry, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? and when did we see thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? and when did we see thee sick, or in prison, and visited thee? And the king replying will say unto them, Verily I declare unto you, inasmuch as ye did it to one of the lest of these my brethren, ye did it to me.
And whosoever shall cause one of these little ones, that believe in me, to offend, it were better for him, if a milstone were laid upon his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
Then said He to the disciples, It is impossible that offences should not come: but wo to him by whom they come.
and he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, Who art Thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus the Nazarene whom thou art persecuting: it is hard for thee to kick against the goads.
And ye shall be hated by all men for my sake: but he that endures to the end shall be saved.
and ye shall be hated by all men for professing my name; but he that perseveres to the end shall certainly be saved.
But all these things will they do unto you, on my account, because they know not Him that sent me.
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to bring peace but division. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law: and those of a man's own family shall be his enemies.
Do ye think that I am come to give peace on the earth? I tell you, nay; but rather division. For from this time there shall be five in one family divided, three against two and two against three: the father will be against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.
Brother shall betray his brother to death, and the father his child: and children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death:
One brother shall betray another to death, and the father the son: and children shall appear against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all, nor teach in the name of Jesus.
saying, Did not we strictly charge you not to teach in this name? and behold ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and would bring this man's blood upon us.
But Saul made havock of the church, entring into the houses, and dragging out men and women, committed them to prison.
But Saul still breathing out threatnings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, came to the high priest, and desired of him letters to the synagogues at Damascus, that if he should find any of this persuasion, men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
But there were indeed false prophets among the people of old, as there will be also among you false teachers, who will privately introduce pernicious heresies, denying even the Lord that bought them, and bringing upon themselves swift destruction,
for they will excommunicate you: yea, the time is coming, that whosoever killeth you, will think that he offers an acceptable service to God.
and he said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing at the right hand of God. Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, and cast him out of the city and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man, whose name was Saul.read more.
And they stoned Stephen calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And bending his knees, he cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this he fell asleep.
About that time Herod the king exerted his power to distress some of the church. And he cut off James, the brother of John, with the sword.
I indeed once thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus the Nazarene: which I also did in Jerusalem; and I shut up many of the saints in prison, having received authority for it from the chief priests; and when they were put to death I gave my voice against them.
And when He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those that had been slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they maintained.
but I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that abuse you and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your heavenly Father; for He causeth his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain upon the just and the unjust.

not returning evil for evil, or reproach for reproach: but on the contrary blessing even those that curse you: knowing ye are called unto this, that ye may obtain a blessing.
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one: for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever. Amen." For if ye forgive men their faults, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:read more.
but if ye forgive not men their transgressions, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one."
And when they were come to the place which is called Calvary, there they crucified Him and the malefactors: one on his right hand and the other on his left. And Jesus said, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his garments, and cast lots for them.
Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing, thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
And behold, a lawyer stood up to try Him, and said, Master, what must I do to inherit eternal life? He said to him, What is written in the law? How readest thou there? And by chance a certain priest came down that way, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise a Levite also, when he came to the place, went and looked at him, and then crossed the way and passed by. But a certain Samaritan, as he was travelling, came up to him, and when He saw him, he was moved with compassion, and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine; and setting him upon his own beast, brought him to an inn and took care of him. And on the morrow, when he went away he took out two denaries, and gave them to the inn-keeper, and said to him, Take care of him, and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again I will repay thee. Which now of these three dost thou think was neighbor to him that fell among the thieves? And he said, He that took pity on him. Therefore said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou in like manner.
Be sober, be vigilant; for your adversary the devil, like a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you my disciples, that he may sift you as wheat:
But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me; that by me the gospel might be fully spread, and that all the nations might hear: and so I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me to his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory throughout all ages. Amen.
whom resist, stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are endured by your brethren in the world.
(for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the demolishing of bulwarks:)
Moreover, my brethren, strengthen yourselves in the Lord, and in his mighty power. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the Devil. For our conflict is not with flesh and blood only, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the world and of the darkness of this age, against wicked spirits in heavenly places.read more.
Take therefore the complete armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand. Stand therefore having your loins girt about with truth, and putting on the breast-plate of righteousness: and having your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace: over all taking the shield of faith, whereby ye will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one: take also the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying at all seasons with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance, and intercession for all the saints;
I would therefore have the younger widows marry, bear children, manage houshold affairs, and give no occasion to the adversary for reproach. For some are already turned aside after Satan.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished my race, I have kept the faith.
Submit yourselves therefore to God: resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
I do not pray that Thou wouldest take them out of the world, but that thou wouldest keep them from the evil.
And be not afraid of them, who can only kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him, who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and not one of them shall fall to the ground without the will of your Father: and even the hairs of your head are all numbered.read more.
Therefore be not afraid, ye are of more worth than many sparrows.
but I have prayed for thee, that thy faith may not fail; and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
As to what remains, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me in that day: and not to me only, but also to all those who have longed for his appearance.
The last enemy that is destroyed is death:
but now made manifest by the appearance of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light by the gospel: for which I was appointed an herald,
And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there shall be death no more, nor sorrow, nor crying, nor any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
