But as much as he ordered them not to do this, they proclaimed it all the more. People were completely astounded and said, "He has done everything well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak."
When those who were around him saw what was about to happen, they said, "Lord, should we use our swords?" Then one of them struck the high priest's slave, cutting off his right ear. But Jesus said, "Enough of this!" And he touched the man's ear and healed him.

I answered, "Who would listen if I spoke to them and warned them? Their ears are so closed that they cannot hear! Indeed, what the Lord says is offensive to them. They do not like it at all.
My servant is truly blind, my messenger is truly deaf. My covenant partner, the servant of the Lord, is truly blind. You see many things, but don't comprehend; their ears are open, but do not hear."
Nations will see this and be disappointed by all their strength, they will put their hands over their mouths, and act as if they were deaf.

At that time the deaf will be able to hear words read from a scroll, and the eyes of the blind will be able to see through deep darkness.
