and therefore hope to be removed from this slavish condition of mortality to the free inheritance of divine glory.

your wealth is wasted, your wardrobe is devour'd by the worm,

who were not, by their own choice, expos'd to this uncertain state, but by virtue of him, who subjected them thereto:

for which cause I am not discouraged, but tho' my body decays, yet my mind is daily renewed.

Lay not up for your selves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal. but lay up for your selves treasures in heaven, where there is neither moth, nor rust, nor corruption, nor thieves, nor violence to molest you.

Ye are the salt of the earth; but if the salt become insipid, how shall it recover its savour? it is no longer fit for any thing, but to be cast out and trod under foot.

sell your possessions and give alms. lay up for yourselves a stock not subject to decay, a treasure in the heavens that will never fail, where no thief can approach, nor moth can spoil.

salt is good, but if the salt has lost its savour, with what shall it be recovered?

Love not the world, nor let worldly things engage your affections. he that is worldly affected is a stranger to divine love. for what the world is so full of, sensuality, avarice, and pride, is not deriv'd from the creator, but is the offspring of a vicious world. and the world is passing away, with all its vices: but he that obeys the divine will, shall enjoy a life of immortality.

having delivered him from the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be overpower'd by it. for David says concerning him, "I had the Lord always present before me, he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved. therefore did my heart rejoice, my tongue was glad: and my body shall rest in hope.read more.

such will be the resurrection of the dead: the body is sown corruptible, it will be raised incorruptible.

for we have. no settled corporation here, but are in expectation of that which is approaching.

For I know, that if my body, which is but a tent for my sojourning upon earth, were dissolved, I have what is not fram'd by human art, but by the divine architect, a mansion eternal in the heavens. while I am thus incas'd, I groan with desire to have that celestial vehicle superinduc'd: tho' should I be divested of this body, I shall not even then be destitute of one.read more.
we that are in this tabernacle do groan under the burden of it: not that we desire to be divested of it, but we desire to have our celestial body, that this mortal state may vanish into immortality. now he that hath prepared us for this very state, is God, who hath given us the spirit as a pledge of it.
