Watch, therefore, and pray at all times, that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

through which things very great and precious favors that were promised have been given us, that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through desire:

For they themselves declare concerning us what kind of entrance we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols, to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, even Jesus, whom he raised from the dead, and who delivers us from the coming wrath.

And one of the elders answered, and said to me: "Who are these that are clothed in white robes, and whence came they? And I said to him: Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me: These are they who have come out of great affliction, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. They shall hunger no more, nor shall they thirst any more, nor shall the sun fall upon them, nor any heat. For the Lamb that is in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and will lead them to living fountains of water: and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

No trial has come upon you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tried more than you are able to bear; but he will, with the trial, make a way to escape, so that you be able to bear up under it.

for God has not appointed us to wrath, but to the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
