Yet, however, even from among the rulers, many believed on Him; but, because of the Pharisees, they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the glory of men, rather than the glory of God.
No one, however, was speaking openly concerning Him, for fear of the Jews.
These things said his parents, because they were fearing the Jews; for the Jews had agreed already, that, if any one should confess Him to be Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
When, therefore, it was evening, on that day, the first day of sabbaths; and, when, through fear of the Jews, the doors were shut, where the disciples were; Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith to them, "Peace be to you!"
But, if ye should even suffer for righteousness sake, happy are ye. But fear not their fear, neither be troubled;
Fear not the things which you are about to suffer. Behold, the Devil is about to cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.
