For this cause, therefore, the Jews were seeking the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the sabbath, but also called God His Father, making Himself equal with God.

If ye were of the world, the world would love its own; but because ye are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.

I have given them Thy word, and the world hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Women received their dead by a resurrection; and others were tortured, not accepting the redemption, that they might obtain a better resurrection. For even when we were with you, we told you beforehand, "We are about to suffer tribulation"; even as also it came to pass, and ye know.

For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. But all these are a beginning of travail. and, having fallen upon the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?" And he said, "Who art Thou, Lord?" And He said, "I am Jesus Whom you are persecuting.
