among whom we also all once had our conversation in the lusts of our flesh, doing what the flesh and the thoughts willed to do, and were children, by nature, of wrath, even as the rest:

but sin, getting a point of attack by the commandment, wrought in me every lust; for without law sin was dead.

For such serve not our Lord Christ, but their own belly, and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.

For we were once ourselves also without intelligence, disobedient, wandering in error, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

But every one is tempted, drawn away, and enticed by his own lust;

For while speaking great highflown words of vanity, they allure with the lusts of the flesh, by dissoluteness, those who have just fled those who walk in error, promising them liberty, while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a man is subdued, by him is he also brought into slavery.

because all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

but if ye have bitter emulation and strife in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This is not the wisdom which comes down from above, but earthly, natural, devilish. For where emulation and strife are, there is disorder and every evil thing.

He that separateth himself seeketh his pleasure, he is vehement against all sound wisdom.

idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strifes, jealousies, angers, contentions, disputes, schools of opinion,

but those out of contention, announce the Christ, not purely, supposing to arouse tribulation for my bonds.

and the dogs are greedy, they know not to be satisfied, and these are shepherds that know not how to discern: they all turn to their own way, every one for his gain, even to the last of them: Come, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and to-morrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.

and it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart, to sweep away the drunken with the thirsty.

Whence come wars and whence fightings among you? Is it not thence, from your pleasures, which war in your members? Ye lust and have not: ye kill and are full of envy, and cannot obtain; ye fight and war; ye have not because ye ask not. Ye ask and receive not, because ye ask evilly, that ye may consume it in your pleasures.

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are fornication, uncleanness, licentiousness,

And they called to Lot, and said to him, Where are the men that have come in to thee to-night? bring them out to us that we may know them.

Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed fornication, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

And she presented them to him to eat; and he took hold of her, and said to her, Come, lie with me, my sister. And she said to him, No, my brother, do not humble me; for no such thing is done in Israel: do not this infamy. And I, whither shall I carry my reproach? and thou wouldest be as one of the infamous in Israel. And now, I pray thee, speak to the king; for he will not withhold me from thee.read more.
But he would not hearken to her voice, and was stronger than she, and humbled her and lay with her.

I have decked my bed with tapestry coverlets of variegated linen from Egypt; I have perfumed my couch with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. Come, let us revel in love until the morning, let us delight ourselves with loves.

lest my God should humble me as to you when I come again, and that I shall grieve over many of those who have sinned before, and have not repented as to the uncleanness and fornication and licentiousness which they have practised.

But thine eyes and thy heart are only on thine extortion, and on the blood of the innocent, to shed it, and on oppression and on violence, to do it.

Is it time for you that ye should dwell in your wainscoted houses, while this house lieth waste?

who must have their mouths stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which ought not to be taught for the sake of base gain.

and behold joy and rejoicing, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: Let us eat and drink, for to-morrow we die.

Be not among winebibbers, among riotous eaters of flesh.

who having cast off all feeling, have given themselves up to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greedy unsatisfied lust.

For this reason God gave them up to vile lusts; for both their females changed the natural use into that contrary to nature; and in like manner the males also, leaving the natural use of the female, were inflamed in their lust towards one another; males with males working shame, and receiving in themselves the recompense of their error which was fit. But this know, that in the last days difficult times shall be there; for men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, evil speakers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, profane, without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, of unsubdued passions, savage, having no love for what is good,read more.
traitors, headlong, of vain pretensions, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God;

And he said, This will I do: I will take away my granaries and build greater, and there I will lay up all my produce and my good things; and I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much good things laid by for many years; repose thyself, eat, drink, be merry. But God said to him, Fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee; and whose shall be what thou hast prepared?read more.
Thus is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

He that loveth mirth shall be a poor man; he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.

for by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a loaf of bread, and another's wife doth hunt for the precious soul.

For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty; and drowsiness clotheth with rags.

And after not many days the younger son gathering all together went away into a country a long way off, and there dissipated his property, living in debauchery. But when he had spent all there arose a violent famine throughout that country, and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.read more.

But she that lives in habits of self-indulgence is dead while living.

But to those that are contentious, and are disobedient to the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there shall be wrath and indignation,

And why shouldest thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger? For the ways of man are before the eyes of Jehovah, and he pondereth all his paths.

whose end is destruction, whose god is the belly, and their glory in their shame, who mind earthly things:)

Therefore shall they now go captive, with the first that go captive, and the revelry of them that stretched themselves shall pass away.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but within they are full of rapine and intemperance.

And be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch, (things which are all for destruction in the using of them:) according to the injunctions and teachings of men, (which have indeed an appearance of wisdom in voluntary worship, and humility, and harsh treatment of the body, not in a certain honour,) to the satisfaction of the flesh.

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not take forethought for the flesh to fulfil its lusts.

But they that are of the Christ have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts.

For the grace of God which carries with it salvation for all men has appeared, teaching us that, having denied impiety and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, and justly, and piously in the present course of things,

For they that are according to flesh mind the things of the flesh; and they that are according to Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

But I say, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall no way fulfil flesh's lust.

Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to gain.

as children of obedience, not conformed to your former lusts in your ignorance;

no longer to live the rest of his time in the flesh to men's lusts, but to God's will.

For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication; that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honour, (not in passionate desire, even as the nations who know not God,)

Weary not thyself to become rich; cease from thine own intelligence:

But every one that contends for a prize is temperate in all things: they then indeed that they may receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible. I therefore thus run, as not uncertainly; so I combat, as not beating the air. But I buffet my body, and lead it captive, lest after having preached to others I should be myself rejected.

But the end of all things is drawn nigh: be sober therefore, and be watchful unto prayers;

in knowledge temperance, in temperance endurance, in endurance godliness,

Put to death therefore your members which are upon the earth, fornication, uncleanness, vile passions, evil lust, and unbridled desire, which is idolatry.

And Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not pollute himself with the king's delicate food, nor with the wine which he drank; and he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not have to pollute himself.

But I say unto you, that every one who looks upon a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. let nothing be in the spirit of strife or vain glory, but, in lowliness of mind, each esteeming the other as more excellent than themselves; regarding not each his own qualities, but each those of others also.

If there be amongst you a poor man, any one of thy brethren in one of thy gates, in thy land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thy heart, nor shut thy hand from thy brother in need; but thou shalt open thy hand bountifully unto him, and shalt certainly lend him on pledge what is sufficient for his need, in that which he lacketh.
