but sin, getting a point of attack by the commandment, wrought in me every lust; for without law sin was dead.
For such serve not our Lord Christ, but their own belly, and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.

but if ye have bitter emulation and strife in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This is not the wisdom which comes down from above, but earthly, natural, devilish. For where emulation and strife are, there is disorder and every evil thing.
He that separateth himself seeketh his pleasure, he is vehement against all sound wisdom.
idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strifes, jealousies, angers, contentions, disputes, schools of opinion,
but those out of contention, announce the Christ, not purely, supposing to arouse tribulation for my bonds.
and the dogs are greedy, they know not to be satisfied, and these are shepherds that know not how to discern: they all turn to their own way, every one for his gain, even to the last of them: Come, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and to-morrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.
and it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart, to sweep away the drunken with the thirsty.
Whence come wars and whence fightings among you? Is it not thence, from your pleasures, which war in your members? Ye lust and have not: ye kill and are full of envy, and cannot obtain; ye fight and war; ye have not because ye ask not. Ye ask and receive not, because ye ask evilly, that ye may consume it in your pleasures.

who must have their mouths stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which ought not to be taught for the sake of base gain.
and behold joy and rejoicing, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: Let us eat and drink, for to-morrow we die.

But this know, that in the last days difficult times shall be there; for men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, evil speakers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, profane, without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, of unsubdued passions, savage, having no love for what is good,read more.
traitors, headlong, of vain pretensions, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God;
And he said, This will I do: I will take away my granaries and build greater, and there I will lay up all my produce and my good things; and I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much good things laid by for many years; repose thyself, eat, drink, be merry. But God said to him, Fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee; and whose shall be what thou hast prepared?read more.
Thus is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
He that loveth mirth shall be a poor man; he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
