But we see Jesus humiliated somewhat in comparison with the angels, having been crowned with glory and honor on account of the suffering of death, in order that by the grace of God he might taste death for every one.

In this we know the divine love, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

No one has greater love than this, that he may lay down his soul for his friends.
For I would pray, that I myself might be an offering from Christ; in behalf of my brethren, my kindred according to the flesh:
