And immediately the Spirit drove him into the wilderness. And he was there in the wilderness forty days and forty nights and was tempted of Satan and was with the wild beasts, and the angels ministered unto him.

Then Jesus was led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterwards he was hungry. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou art the Son of God, command that these stones be made into bread.read more.
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Then the devil took him up into the holy city and set him on a pinnacle of the temple and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down, for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee, and in their hands they shall bear thee up lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Again, the devil took him up into an exceeding high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them and said unto him, All these things I will give thee if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then Jesus said unto him, Get thee hence, Satan, for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil left him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

And Jesus being full of the Holy Spirit returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness for forty days and was tempted of the devil. And in those days he ate nothing; and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. Then the devil said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.read more.
And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. And the devil took him up into a high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the sphere of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, All this authority I will give thee and the glory of them, for that is delivered unto me, and to whomsoever I will I give it. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan; for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. And he brought him to Jerusalem and set him on a pinnacle of the temple and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down from here; for it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee, and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. And having finished all temptation, the devil departed from him for a season.

and I will put enmity between thee and the woman and between thy seed and her seed; that seed shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Then Peter, taking him aside, began to rebuke him, saying, Lord, be it far from thee; in no wise shall this happen unto thee. But he turned and said unto Peter, Remove thyself from before me, Satan; thou art an offence unto me, for thou dost not understand that which is of God, but that which is of men.

Then Satan entered into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.

When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit and testified and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spoke. And one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was seated at the table beside Jesus.read more.
Simon Peter therefore beckoned to this one that he should ask him who it was of whom he spoke. He then, reclining on Jesus' breast, said unto him, Lord, who is it? Jesus answered, He it is to whom I shall give a sop when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then Jesus said unto him, That which thou shalt do, do it more quickly.

Then the Pharisees went out and took council against him that they might destroy him.

And as the Pharisees went forth, they took counsel with the Herodians against him, to kill him.

And they were filled with madness and talked one with another about what they might do to Jesus.

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his anointed, saying,

He is despised and rejected among men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with weakness; and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

When the morning was come, all the princes of the priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death,

Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God.

After these things Jesus walked in Galilee, for he would not walk in Judea because the Jews sought to kill him.

So that from that day forth they took counsel together to kill him.

Because for this were ye called: for the Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps who did no sin neither was guile found in his mouth, who, when he was cursed, did not return the curse; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but committed himself to him that judges righteously;read more.
he himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose wound ye were healed.

But this comes to pass that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

Let not those that are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me; neither let those that hate me wink with the eye without a cause.

Those that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head; those that would destroy me, being my enemies wrongfully, are mighty; then I restored that which I did not take away.

Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the princes of the priests and said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

For the son dishonours the father, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man's enemies are those of his own house.

And as they ate, he said, Verily I say unto you that one of you shall betray me. And they were exceeding sorrowful and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I? And he answered and said, He that dips his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.read more.
The Son of man goes as it is written of him, but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! It had been good for that man if he had not been born. Then Judas, who was betraying him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.

He then, reclining on Jesus' breast, said unto him, Lord, who is it? Jesus answered, He it is to whom I shall give a sop when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then Jesus said unto him, That which thou shalt do, do it more quickly.

him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken and by wicked hands have crucified and slain,

Pilate said unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus who is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.

And straightway in the morning the princes of the priests having held a consultation with the elders and with the scribes and with the whole council, took Jesus away bound and delivered him to Pilate.

Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment, and it was early; and they themselves did not go into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the passover. Pilate then went out unto them and said, What accusation bring ye against this man? They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee.read more.
Then Pilate said unto them, Take him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death; that the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spoke, signifying what death he should die.

The God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Son Jesus, whom ye delivered up and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he had judged to let him go.

Then Jesus said, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment and cast lots.

but they had only heard, That he who persecuted us in time past now preaches the faith which he once destroyed.

And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, came unto the prince of the priests and asked him for letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. And as he proceeded, he came near Damascus; and suddenly there shone round about him a light from heaven;read more.
and falling to the earth, he heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why dost thou persecute me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I AM Jesus whom thou dost persecute; it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what it behooves thee to do.

And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women. As also the prince of the priests bears me witness, and all the estate of the elders, from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus to bring those who were bound there unto Jerusalem to be punished.

I verily had thought that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth. Which things I also did in Jerusalem, and I shut up many of the saints in prison, having received authority from the princes of the priests, and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them. And I punished them often in every synagogue and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto foreign cities.

For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled with God by the death of his Son, much more, now reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

(For many walk, of whom I have told you often and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ;

who now rejoice in my sufferings for you and fulfill in my flesh that which is lacking of the tribulations of the Christ for his body's sake, which is the congregation ,

For he must reign until he has put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

But who may abide the time of his coming? and who shall stand when he appears? for he shall be like a refiner's fire and like fullers' soap:

The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand until I make thine enemies thy footstool?

The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand

Therefore, God also has highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things in earth and things under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that the Lord Jesus Christ is Lord in the glory of God the Father.

seeing it is a just thing with God to recompense tribulation to those that trouble you and to give you, who are troubled, rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with the angels of his power, with flaming fire, to take vengeance on those that do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ,read more.
who shall be punished with eternal destruction by the presence of the Lord and by the glory of his power, when he shall come to be glorified in his saints and to be admired in all those that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

Let no one deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come except there come a falling away first and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition, opposing and exalting himself against all that is called God, or divinity, so that he as God sits in the temple of God, making himself appear to be God. Remember ye not, that when I was yet with you, I told you these things?read more.
And ye know what impedes this now, that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity is already working, except that he who dominates now will dominate until he is taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked one be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the Spirit of his mouth and remove with the clarity of his coming:

But to which of the angels did he say at any time, Sit on my right hand until I make thine enemies thy footstool?

waiting for that which follows, that is, until his enemies are made his footstool.
