'Asleep' in the Bible
And he fell asleep and dreamed a second time, and behold, seven ears of grain, plump and good, were coming out of one stalk.
But Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, took in her hand a tent peg and a hammer, and she went softly to him and drove the peg into his temple, and it went through into the ground; he [was] fast asleep since he was exhausted, and he died.
So David and Abishai came to the army [by] night, and {there was} Saul lying asleep in the encampment with his spear thrust into the ground near his head, and Abner and the army [were] lying all around him.

So the disciples said to him, "Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will get well."
And falling to [his] knees, he cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them!" And [after he] said this, he fell asleep.
For David, [after] serving the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep and {was buried with} his fathers, and experienced decay.
then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at once, the majority of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep.
And as a further result, those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.
Behold, I tell you a mystery: we will not all fall asleep, but we will all be changed,

who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live at the same time with him.
And in greediness they will exploit you with false words, whose condemnation [from] long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.
and saying, "Where is the promise of his coming? For {ever since} the fathers fell asleep, all [things] have continued just as they have been from the beginning of creation."
