1 Chronicles 16

¹ Then they took in the ark of God and put it inside the tent which David had put up for it; and they made offerings, burned offerings and peace-offerings before God.

³ He distributed to everyone of Israel, both man and woman, to everyone a loaf of bread and a portion of meat and a raisin cake.

³ Then he distributed to each and every Israelite, both men and women, a loaf of bread, a date cake, and a raisin cake.

³ and distributed a loaf of bread, a date bar, and a raisin bar to every person in Israel that is, to each man and to each woman.

⁵ Asaph the chief, and second to him Zechariah, Uzziel and Shemiramoth and Jehiel and Mattithiah and Eliab and Benaiah and Obed-edom and Jeiel, with corded instruments of music; and Asaph, with brass instruments sounding loudly;

⁵ Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obededom: and Jeiel with psalteries and with harps; but Asaph made a sound with cymbals;

⁵ Their director Asaph played cymbals, and next to him was Zechariah, followed by Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel, who played harps and lyres.

⁷ Then on that day David first made the giving of praise to the Lord the work of Asaph and his brothers.

⁷ Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank the LORD into the hand of Asaph and his brethren.

⁷ Then on that day David ^(B)first assigned ^(b)Asaph and his ^(c)relatives to give thanks to the Lord.

⁷ On that day David decreed for the first time that thanks be given to the Lord by Asaph and his relatives:

⁷ On that very day, David composed this psalm of thanksgiving to the LORD just for Asaph and his companions:

⁹ Let your voice be sounded in songs and melody; let all your thoughts be of the wonder of his works.

⁹ Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works.

⁹ Sing to Him, sing praises to Him;^(d)Speak of all His ^(e)wonders.

⁹ Sing to Him; sing praise to Him;tell about all His wonderful works!

⁹ Sing to him, sing psalms to him, and think about all of his miraculous deeds.

¹¹ Let your search be for the Lord and for his strength; let your hearts ever be turned to him.

¹¹ Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.

¹³ you offspring of Israel His servant,Jacob’s descendants—His chosen ones.

¹⁵ He has kept his agreement in mind for ever, the word which he gave for a thousand generations;

¹⁵ Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;

¹⁵ Remember His covenant forever,The word which He commanded to a thousand generations,

¹⁵ Remember His covenant forever—the promise He ordained for a thousand generations,

¹⁵ Remember his covenant forever, his promise that he made to the thousandth generation,

¹⁷ And he gave it to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an eternal agreement;

¹⁷ And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,

^{17 (J)}He also confirmed it to Jacob for a statute,To Israel as an everlasting covenant,

¹⁷ and confirmed to Jacob as a decree,and to Israel as an everlasting covenant:^(J)

¹⁷ He confirmed it to Jacob in the form of an ordinance, an eternal covenant to Israel,

¹⁹ When you were still small in number, and strange in the land;

¹⁹ When ye were but few, even a few, and strangers in it.

¹⁹ When they^(c) were few in number,very few indeed,^(L) and temporary residents in Canaan

²¹ He would not let anyone do them wrong; he even kept back kings because of them,

²¹ He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes,

²¹ He permitted no man to oppress them,And ^(M)He reproved kings for their sakes, saying,

²¹ He allowed no one to oppress them;He rebuked kings on their behalf:^(M)

²¹ he did not let anyone wrong them. He warned kings on their behalf,

²³ Make songs to the Lord, all the earth; give the good news of his salvation day by day.

²³ Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.

^{23 (O)}Sing to the Lord, all the earth;Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day.

²³ Sing^(O) to the Lord, all the earth.Proclaim His salvation from day to day.

²³ Let all the earth sing to the LORD! Day after day proclaim his deliverance!

²⁵ For the Lord is great, and greatly to be praised; and he is more to be feared than all other gods.

²⁵ For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods.

²⁵ For ^(P)great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;He also is ^(Q)to be feared above all gods.

²⁵ because the LORD is great, and he is praised greatly! He is feared above every god.

²⁷ Honour and glory are before him: strength and joy are in his holy place.

²⁷ Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place.

²⁷ Splendor and majesty are before Him,Strength and joy are in His place.

²⁷ Splendor and majesty are before Him;strength and joy are in His place.

²⁷ Splendor and majesty surround him, and strength and joy fill his palace.

²⁹ Give to the Lord the glory of his name; take with you an offering and come before him; give worship to the Lord in holy robes.

²⁹ Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

²⁹ Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name;Bring an ^(h)offering, and come before Him;^(T)Worship the Lord in ⁽ⁱ⁾holy array.

²⁹ Ascribe to Yahweh the glory of His name;bring an offering and come before Him.Worship the Lord in the splendor of His holiness;^(T)

²⁹ Recognize the glory that is due the LORD! Bring your offering, and come into his presence, worshiping the LORD in all of his holy splendor.

³¹ Let the heavens have joy and let the earth be glad; let them say among the nations, The Lord is King.

³¹ Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The LORD reigneth.

^{31 (U)}Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;And let them say among the nations, “^(V)The Lord reigns.”

³¹ Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice,^(V)and let them say among the nations, “The Lord is King!”

³¹ Let the heavens rejoice, and the earth be glad! Say to the nations, "The LORD reigns!"

³³ Then let all the trees of the wood be sounding with joy before the Lord, for he is come to be the judge of the earth.

³³ Then shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the LORD, because he cometh to judge the earth.

³³ Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy before the Lord;For He is coming to judge the earth.

³³ Then the trees of the forest will shout for joy before the Lord,for He is coming to judge the earth.

³³ Then let the trees in the forest sing out in praise, for the LORD is coming to judge the world.

³⁵ And say, Be our saviour, O God of our salvation, and let us come back, and give us salvation from the nations, so that we may give honour to your holy name and have glory in your praise.

³⁵ And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.

^{35 (Y)}Then say, “Save us, O God of our salvation,And gather us and deliver us from the nations,To give thanks to Your holy name,And ^(l)glory in Your praise.”

³⁵ And say:^(Y) “Save us, God of our salvation;gather us and rescue us from the nationsso that we may give thanks to Your holy nameand rejoice in Your praise.

³⁵ Call out, "Save us, God, you who delivers us! Gather us and rescue us from the nations! We will thank your holy name and rejoice as we praise you!

³⁷ So he made Asaph and his brothers keep their places there before the ark of the agreement of the Lord, to do whatever had to be done before the ark at all times day by day:

³⁷ So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day's work required:

³⁷ So he left Asaph and his ^(m)relatives there ^(AB)before the ark of the covenant of the Lord to minister before the ark continually, ^(AC)as every day’s work required;

³⁷ So David left Asaph and his relatives there before the ark of the Lord’s covenant to minister regularly^(AA) before the ark according to the daily requirements.^(AB)

³⁷ Later David left the presence of the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD so Asaph and his fellow descendants of Levi could serve the ark there continually each day, doing whatever was required.

³⁹ And Zadok the priest, with his brothers the priests, before the House of the Lord in the high place at Gibeon;

³⁹ And Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that was at Gibeon,

³⁹ He left ^(AF)Zadok the priest and his ^(o)relatives the priests ^(AG)before the ^(p)tabernacle of the Lord in the high place which was at Gibeon,

³⁹ David left Zadok the priest and his fellow priests before the tabernacle of the Lord at the high place in Gibeon^(AE)

³⁹ He left Zadok the priest and his relatives at the Tent of the LORD at the high place in Gibeon, where they ministered in the LORD's presence,

⁴¹ And with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest who were marked out by name to give praise to the Lord, for his mercy is unchanging for ever;

⁴¹ And with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because his mercy endureth for ever;

⁴¹ With them were ^(AI)Heman and Jeduthun, and ^(AJ)the rest who were chosen, who were designated by name, to ^(AK)give thanks to the Lord, because His lovingkindness is everlasting.

⁴¹ With them were Heman,^(AG) Jeduthun, and the rest who were chosen and designated by name^(AH) to give thanks to the Lord—for His faithful love endures forever.^(AI)

⁴¹ David also appointed Heman, Jeduthun, and others chosen by name to give thanks to the LORD, because "his gracious love is eternal."

⁴³ And all the people went away, every man to his house; and David went back to give a blessing to his family.

⁴³ And all the people departed every man to his house: and David returned to bless his house.

^{43 (AM)}Then all the people departed each to his house, and David returned to bless his household.

⁴³ Then all the people left for their homes, and David returned home to bless his household.^(AK)

⁴³ After this, everyone left for their own homes and David went home to bless his own household.
