1 Chronicles 16

¹ They^(A) brought the ark of God and placed it inside the tent David had pitched for it.^(B) Then they offered burnt offerings and fellowship offerings in God’s presence.

⁵ Asaph was the chief and Zechariah was second to him. Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel played the harps and lyres, while Asaph sounded the cymbals

⁵ Asaph the chief, and second to him Zechariah, then ^(a)Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom and Jeiel, with musical instruments, harps, lyres; also Asaph played loud-sounding cymbals,

⁵ Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obededom: and Jeiel with psalteries and with harps; but Asaph made a sound with cymbals;

⁵ Their director Asaph played cymbals, and next to him was Zechariah, followed by Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel, who played harps and lyres.

⁵ Asaph the chief, and second to him Zechariah, then Jeiel (Jaaziel), Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel with musical instruments, harps and lyres; also Asaph played loud-sounding cymbals;

⁷ On that day David decreed for the first time that thanks be given to the Lord by Asaph and his relatives:

⁷ Then on that day David ^(B)first assigned ^(b)Asaph and his ^(c)relatives to give thanks to the Lord.

⁷ Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank the LORD into the hand of Asaph and his brethren.

⁷ On that very day, David composed this psalm of thanksgiving to the LORD just for Asaph and his companions:

⁷ Then on that day David first entrusted to Asaph and his relatives to give thanks to the Lord [as their chief task].

⁹ Sing to Him; sing praise to Him;tell about all His wonderful works!

⁹ Sing to Him, sing praises to Him;^(d)Speak of all His ^(e)wonders.

⁹ Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works.

⁹ Sing to him, sing psalms to him, and think about all of his miraculous deeds.

¹¹ Search for the Lord and for His strength;seek His face always.^(E)

¹³ you descendants of his servant Israel, you descendants of Jacob, the ones he has chosen.

¹⁵ Remember His covenant forever—the promise He ordained for a thousand generations,

¹⁵ Remember His covenant forever,The word which He commanded to a thousand generations,

¹⁵ Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;

¹⁵ Remember his covenant forever, his promise that he made to the thousandth generation,

¹⁵ Be mindful of His covenant forever,The promise which He commanded and established to a thousand generations,

¹⁷ and confirmed to Jacob as a decree,and to Israel as an everlasting covenant:^(J)

^{17 (J)}He also confirmed it to Jacob for a statute,To Israel as an everlasting covenant,

¹⁷ And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,

¹⁷ He confirmed it to Jacob in the form of an ordinance, an eternal covenant to Israel,

¹⁷ He confirmed it as a statute to Jacob,And to Israel as an everlasting covenant,^(A)

¹⁹ When they^(c) were few in number,very few indeed,^(L) and temporary residents in Canaan

²¹ he did not let anyone wrong them. He warned kings on their behalf,

²¹ He allowed no man to oppress or exploit them,And, He reproved and punished kings for their sakes, saying,^(B)

²³ Sing^(O) to the Lord, all the earth.Proclaim His salvation from day to day.

^{23 (O)}Sing to the Lord, all the earth;Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day.

²³ Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.

²³ Let all the earth sing to the LORD! Day after day proclaim his deliverance!

²³ Sing to the Lord, all the earth;Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.

²⁵ For the Lord is great and highly praised;^(P)He is feared above all gods.^(Q)

²⁵ For ^(P)great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;He also is ^(Q)to be feared above all gods.

²⁵ For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods.

²⁵ because the LORD is great, and he is praised greatly! He is feared above every god.

²⁵ For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;He is also to be feared [with awe-filled reverence] above all gods.

²⁷ Splendor and majesty are before Him;strength and joy are in His place.

²⁷ Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place.

²⁷ Splendor and majesty surround him, and strength and joy fill his palace.

²⁷ Splendor and majesty are [found] in His presence;Strength and joy are [found] in His place (sanctuary).

²⁹ Ascribe to Yahweh the glory of His name;bring an offering and come before Him.Worship the Lord in the splendor of His holiness;^(T)

²⁹ Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name;Bring an ^(h)offering, and come before Him;^(T)Worship the Lord in ⁽ⁱ⁾holy array.

²⁹ Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

²⁹ Recognize the glory that is due the LORD! Bring your offering, and come into his presence, worshiping the LORD in all of his holy splendor.

²⁹ Ascribe to the Lord the glory and honor due His name;Bring an offering [of thanksgiving], and come before Him;Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.

³¹ Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice,^(V)and let them say among the nations, “The Lord is King!”

^{31 (U)}Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;And let them say among the nations, “^(V)The Lord reigns.”

³¹ Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The LORD reigneth.

³¹ Let the heavens rejoice, and the earth be glad! Say to the nations, "The LORD reigns!"

³¹ Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;And let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.”

³³ Then the trees of the forest will shout for joy before the Lord,for He is coming to judge the earth.

³³ Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy before the Lord;For He is coming to judge the earth.

³³ Then shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the LORD, because he cometh to judge the earth.

³³ Then let the trees in the forest sing out in praise, for the LORD is coming to judge the world.

³³ Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy before the Lord;For He comes to judge and govern the earth.

³⁵ And say:^(Y) “Save us, God of our salvation;gather us and rescue us from the nationsso that we may give thanks to Your holy nameand rejoice in Your praise.

^{35 (Y)}Then say, “Save us, O God of our salvation,And gather us and deliver us from the nations,To give thanks to Your holy name,And ^(l)glory in Your praise.”

³⁵ And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.

³⁵ Call out, "Save us, God, you who delivers us! Gather us and rescue us from the nations! We will thank your holy name and rejoice as we praise you!

³⁵ Then say, “Save us, O God of our salvation;Gather us together and rescue us from the nations,That we may give thanks to Your holy name,And glory in Your praise.”

³⁷ So David left Asaph and his relatives there before the ark of the Lord’s covenant to minister regularly^(AA) before the ark according to the daily requirements.^(AB)

³⁷ So he left Asaph and his ^(m)relatives there ^(AB)before the ark of the covenant of the Lord to minister before the ark continually, ^(AC)as every day’s work required;

³⁷ So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day's work required:

³⁷ Later David left the presence of the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD so Asaph and his fellow descendants of Levi could serve the ark there continually each day, doing whatever was required.

³⁷ So David left Asaph and his relatives there before the ark of the covenant of the Lord to minister before the ark continually, as each day’s work required;

³⁹ David left Zadok the priest and his fellow priests before the tabernacle of the Lord at the high place in Gibeon^(AE)

³⁹ He left ^(AF)Zadok the priest and his ^(o)relatives the priests ^(AG)before the ^(p)tabernacle of the Lord in the high place which was at Gibeon,

³⁹ And Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that was at Gibeon,

³⁹ He left Zadok the priest and his relatives at the Tent of the LORD at the high place in Gibeon, where they ministered in the LORD's presence,

³⁹ David left Zadok the priest and his relatives the priests before the dwelling place (tabernacle) of the Lord in the high place which was at Gibeon,^(D)

⁴¹ With them were Heman,^(AG) Jeduthun, and the rest who were chosen and designated by name^(AH) to give thanks to the Lord—for His faithful love endures forever.^(AI)

⁴¹ With them were ^(AI)Heman and Jeduthun, and ^(AJ)the rest who were chosen, who were designated by name, to ^(AK)give thanks to the Lord, because His lovingkindness is everlasting.

⁴¹ And with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because his mercy endureth for ever;

⁴¹ David also appointed Heman, Jeduthun, and others chosen by name to give thanks to the LORD, because "his gracious love is eternal."

⁴¹ With them were Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest who were chosen and designated by name, to give thanks to the Lord, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

⁴³ Then all the people left for their homes, and David returned home to bless his household.^(AK)

^{43 (AM)}Then all the people departed each to his house, and David returned to bless his household.

⁴³ And all the people departed every man to his house: and David returned to bless his house.

⁴³ After this, everyone left for their own homes and David went home to bless his own household.
