A History Lesson From Israel
1 For I would not have you, brothers, to be ignorant of the fact that though our forefathers were all made safe by the cloud, and all went securely through the sea, and in the cloud and the sea
1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
1 For (A)I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that our fathers were all (B)under the cloud and all (C)passed through the sea;

Instructions For Public Worship
4 and all drank the same spiritual drink -- for they continued to drink the water from the spiritual Rock which accompanied them, and that Rock was the Christ --
4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

8 Let us stop practicing immorality, as some of them did, and on one day twenty-three thousand fell dead.
8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

11 Those things continued to befall them as warnings to others, and they were written down for the purpose of instructing us, in whose lives the climax of the ages has been reached.

13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Warning Against Idolatry
15 I am speaking to sensible men; decide for yourselves about what I say.

16 Is not the consecrated cup which we consecrate a sign of our sharing in the blood of Christ? Is not the loaf which we break a sign of our sharing in the body of Christ?
16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

Order At The Lord's Supper
17 Because there is only one loaf, so we, though many, are only one body, for we all partake of one loaf.
17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

18 Look at the Israelites in their practices. Are not those who eat the sacrifices in spiritual fellowship with the altar?

18 Look at the people of Israel.(h) Do not those who eat the sacrifices participate in what is offered on the altar?(AD)
18 Look at the Israelis from a human point of view. Those who eat the sacrifices share in what is on the altar, don't they?
19 Then what do I mean? That the sacrifice to an idol is a reality, or that an idol itself is a reality? Of course not!
19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?
19 What do I mean then? That a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or (AF)that an idol is anything?
19 What am I saying then? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
19 Am I suggesting that an offering made to idols means anything, or that an idol itself means anything?
20 I mean that what the heathen sacrifice they sacrifice to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be in fellowship with demons.
20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
20 No, but I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they (AG)sacrifice to demons and not to God; and I do not want you to become sharers in demons.

21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot eat at the table of the Lord and at the table of demons.
21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.

Freedom In Christ
23 Everything is permissible for people, but not everything is good for them. Everything is permissible for people, but not everything builds up their personality.
