The priests took up
When Aaron and his sons have finished covering the holy objects and all the furnishings of the sanctuary, when the camp is to set out, after that the sons of Kohath shall come to carry them, so that they will not touch the holy objects
and die. These are the things in the tent of meeting which the sons of Kohath are to carry.
So Moses wrote this law and gave it to the priests, the sons of Levi
who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and to all the elders of Israel.
And Joshua spoke to the priests, saying, “Take up the ark of the covenant and cross over ahead of the people.” So they took up the ark of the covenant and went ahead of the people.
Then Joshua set up twelve
stones in the middle of the Jordan at the place where the feet of the priests who carried the ark of the covenant were standing, and they are there to this day.
So Joshua the son of Nun called the priests and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests carry seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the Lord.”
1 Chronicles 15:2
Then David said, “
No one is to carry the ark of God but the Levites; for the Lord chose them to carry the ark of God and to minister to Him forever.”
2 Chronicles 5:5
They brought up the ark and the tent of meeting and all the holy utensils which were in the tent; the Levitical priests brought them up.
