David Defeats The Philistines At Keilah

11 Then they told David, saying, "Behold, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah and are plundering the threshing floors."

11 Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshingfloors.

11 It was reported to David: "Look, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah and raiding the threshing floors."

11 Someone told David, "Look, the Philistines are fighting at Keilah and are plundering the threshing floors."

11 Then they told David, Behold, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah and are robbing the threshing floors.

22 So David inquired of the LORD, saying, "Shall I go and attack these Philistines?" And the LORD said to David, "Go and attack the Philistines and deliver Keilah."

22 Therefore David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.

22 So David inquired of the Lord: "Should I launch an attack against these Philistines?" The Lord answered David, "Launch an attack against the Philistines and rescue Keilah."

22 David inquired of the LORD: "Shall I go and strike down these Philistines?" The LORD told David, "Go strike down the Philistines and deliver Keilah."

22 So David inquired of the Lord, Shall I go and attack these Philistines? And the Lord said to David, Go, smite the Philistines and save Keilah.

33 But David's men said to him, "Behold, we are afraid here in Judah. How much more then if we go to Keilah against the ranks of the Philistines?"

33 And David's men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?

33 But David's men said to him, "Look, we're afraid here in Judah; how much more if we go to Keilah against the Philistine forces!"

33 David's men told him, "Look, we're afraid here in Judah. How much then, if we go to Keilah against the Philistine army?"

33 David's men said to him, Behold, we are afraid here in Judah. How much more, then, if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?

44 Then David inquired of the LORD once more. And the LORD answered him and said, "Arise, go down to Keilah, for I will give the Philistines into your hand."

44 Then David inquired of the LORD yet again. And the LORD answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand.

44 Once again, David inquired of the Lord, and the Lord answered him: "Go at once to Keilah, for I will hand the Philistines over to you.

44 David inquired of the LORD again, and the LORD answered him: "Get up, go down to Keilah. I'll give the Philistines into your control."

44 Then David inquired of the Lord again. And the Lord answered him, Arise, go down to Keilah, for I will deliver the Philistines into your hand.

55 So David and his men went to Keilah and fought with the Philistines; and he led away their livestock and struck them with a great slaughter. Thus David delivered the inhabitants of Keilah.

55 So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.

55 Then David and his men went to Keilah, fought against the Philistines, drove their livestock away, and inflicted heavy losses on them. So David rescued the inhabitants of Keilah.

55 David and his men went to Keilah and fought the Philistines. He carried off their livestock and defeated them decisively, and so David delivered the inhabitants of Keilah.

55 So David and his men went to Keilah and fought the Philistines with a great slaughter and brought away their cattle. So David delivered the people of Keilah.

David Flees From Saul At Keilah

66 Now it came about, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David at Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.

66 And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.

66 Abiathar son of Ahimelech fled to David at Keilah, and he brought an ephod with him.

66 Now when Ahimelech's son Abiathar had fled to David in Keilah, the ephod had come down with him.

66 When Abiathar son of Ahimelech fled to David at Keilah, he came with an ephod in his hand.

Saul Chases David

77 When it was told Saul that David had come to Keilah, Saul said, "God has delivered him into my hand, for he shut himself in by entering a city with double gates and bars."

77 And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars.

77 When it was reported to Saul that David had gone to Keilah, he said, "God has handed him over to me, for he has trapped himself by entering a town with barred gates."

77 It was reported to Saul that David had come to Keilah, and Saul said, "The LORD has delivered him into my hand because he has shut himself in by going into a town with double gates and bars."

77 Now it was told Saul that David had come to Keilah. Saul said, God has delivered him into my hand, for he is shut in by going into a town that has gates and bars.

88 So Saul summoned all the people for war, to go down to Keilah to besiege David and his men.

88 And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.

88 Then Saul summoned all the troops to go to war at Keilah and besiege David and his men.

88 Saul summoned for battle all his forces to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.

88 Saul summoned all the men for war, to go to Keilah to besiege David and his men.

99 Now David knew that Saul was plotting evil against him; so he said to Abiathar the priest, "Bring the ephod here."

99 And David knew that Saul secretly practised mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.

99 When David learned that Saul was plotting evil against him, he said to Abiathar the priest, "Bring the ephod."

99 David knew that Saul was devising evil plans against him, and so he told Abiathar the priest, "Bring the ephod."

99 David knew that Saul was plotting evil against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring the ephod here.

1010 Then David said, "O LORD God of Israel, Your servant has heard for certain that Saul is seeking to come to Keilah to destroy the city on my account.

1010 Then said David, O LORD God of Israel, thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake.

1010 Then David said, "Lord God of Israel, Your servant has heard that Saul intends to come to Keilah and destroy the town because of me.

1010 David said, "LORD God of Israel. Your servant has definitely heard that Saul intends to come to Keilah to destroy the town because of me.

1010 Then David said, O Lord, the God of Israel, Your servant has surely heard that Saul intends to come and destroy the city of Keilah on my account.

1111 "Will the men of Keilah surrender me into his hand? Will Saul come down just as Your servant has heard? O LORD God of Israel, I pray, tell Your servant." And the LORD said, "He will come down."

1111 Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O LORD God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the LORD said, He will come down.

1111 Will the citizens of Keilah hand me over to him? Will Saul come down as Your servant has heard? Lord God of Israel, please tell Your servant." The Lord answered, "He will come down."

1111 Will the people of Keilah hand me over to him? Will Saul come down just as your servant has heard? LORD God of Israel, please inform your servant." The LORD said, "He will come down."

1111 Will the men of Keilah deliver me into his hand? Will Saul come down, as Your servant has heard? O Lord, God of Israel, I beseech You, tell Your servant. And the Lord said, He will come down.

1212 Then David said, "Will the men of Keilah surrender me and my men into the hand of Saul?" And the LORD said, "They will surrender you."

1212 Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the LORD said, They will deliver thee up.

1212 Then David asked, "Will the citizens of Keilah hand me and my men over to Saul?" "They will," the Lord responded.

1212 Then David said, "Will the people of Keilah hand me over to Saul?"

1212 Then David asked, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into Saul's hand? The Lord said, They will deliver you up.

David Hides In The Wilderness

1313 Then David and his men, about six hundred, arose and departed from Keilah, and they went wherever they could go. When it was told Saul that David had escaped from Keilah, he gave up the pursuit.

1313 Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth.

1313 So David and his men, numbering about 600, left Keilah at once and moved from place to place. When it was reported to Saul that David had escaped from Keilah, he called off the expedition.

1313 The LORD said, "They'll hand you over." David and his men, about 600 strong, got up and left Keilah. They moved around wherever they could go. Saul was advised that David had escaped from Keilah, so he stopped the campaign.

1313 Then David and his men, about 600, arose and left Keilah, going wherever they could go. When Saul was told that David had escaped from Keilah, he gave up going there.

David Eludes Saul's Pursuit

1414 David stayed in the wilderness in the strongholds, and remained in the hill country in the wilderness of Ziph And Saul sought him every day, but God did not deliver him into his hand.

1414 And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.

1414 David then stayed in the wilderness strongholds and in the hill country of the Wilderness of Ziph. Saul searched for him every day, but God did not hand David over to him.

1414 David stayed in the wilderness in the strongholds, and he lived in the hill country in the wilderness of Ziph. Saul sought him every day, but God did not let David slip into Saul's control.

1414 David remained in the wilderness strongholds in the hill country of the Wilderness of Ziph. Saul sought him every day, but God did not give him into his hands.

A Renewed Covenant

1515 Now David became aware that Saul had come out to seek his life while David was in the wilderness of Ziph at Horesh.

1515 And David saw that Saul was come out to seek his life: and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in a wood.

1515 David was in the Wilderness of Ziph in Horesh when he saw that Saul had come out to take his life.

1515 David was afraid because Saul had come out to seek his life while David was in the wilderness of Ziph at Horesh.

1515 David saw that Saul had come out to seek his life. David was in the Wilderness of Ziph in the wood [at Horesh].

1616 And Jonathan, Saul's son, arose and went to David at Horesh, and encouraged him in God.

1616 And Jonathan Saul's son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.

1616 Then Saul's son Jonathan came to David in Horesh and encouraged him in [his faith in] God,

1616 Saul's son Jonathan got up and went to David at Horesh, and he encouraged him to trust in God.

1616 And Jonathan, Saul's son, rose and went into the wood to David [at Horesh] and strengthened his hand in God.

1717 Thus he said to him, "Do not be afraid, because the hand of Saul my father will not find you, and you will be king over Israel and I will be next to you; and Saul my father knows that also."

1717 And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth.

1717 saying, "Don't be afraid, for my father Saul will never lay a hand on you. You yourself will be king over Israel, and I'll be your second-in-command. Even my father Saul knows it is true."

1717 Jonathan told him, "Don't be afraid. My father Saul won't find you, and you will be king over Israel. I'll be your second-in-command. My father Saul also knows this."

1717 He said to him, Fear not; the hand of Saul my father shall not find you. You shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to you. Saul my father knows that too.

1818 So the two of them made a covenant before the LORD; and David stayed at Horesh while Jonathan went to his house.

1818 And they two made a covenant before the LORD: and David abode in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house.

1818 Then the two of them made a covenant in the Lord's presence. Afterwards, David remained in Horesh, while Jonathan went home.

David's Narrow Escape

1919 Then Ziphites came up to Saul at Gibeah, saying, "Is David not hiding with us in the strongholds at Horesh, on the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?

1919 Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?

1919 Some Ziphites came up to Saul at Gibeah and said, "David is hiding among us in the strongholds in Horesh on the hill of Hachilah south of Jeshimon.

1919 People from Ziph came up to Saul at Gibeah and informed him, "David is hiding with us in the strongholds in Horesh and on the hill of Hachilah south of Jeshimon, isn't he?

1919 Then the Ziphites came to Saul at Gibeah, saying, Does not David hide himself with us in strongholds in the wood [at Horesh], on the hill of Hachilah, which is south of Jeshimon?

2020 "Now then, O king, come down according to all the desire of your soul to do so; and our part shall be to surrender him into the king's hand."

2020 Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king's hand.

2020 Now, whenever the king wants to come down, let him come down. Our part will be to hand him over to the king."

2020 Now, your majesty, whenever you want to come down, come down, and our part will be to hand him over to the king."

2020 Now come down, O king, according to all your heart's desire to come down, and our part shall be to deliver him into the king's hands.

2121 Saul said, "May you be blessed of the LORD, for you have had compassion on me.

2121 And Saul said, Blessed be ye of the LORD; for ye have compassion on me.

2121 "May you be blessed by the Lord," replied Saul, "for you have taken pity on me

2121 Saul said, "May you be blessed by the LORD, because you have been gracious to me.

2121 And Saul said, The Lord bless you, for you have compassion on me.

2222 "Go now, make more sure, and investigate and see his place where his haunt is, and who has seen him there; for I am told that he is very cunning.

2222 Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who hath seen him there: for it is told me that he dealeth very subtilly.

2222 Go and check again. Investigate and watch carefully where he goes and who has seen him there; they tell me he is extremely cunning.

2222 Go and again make sure, find out and investigate where he is and who has seen him there, for people tell me that he's very clever.

2222 Go, make yet more sure; and know and see where his haunt is and who has seen him there; for I am told he deals very craftily.

2323 "So look, and learn about all the hiding places where he hides himself and return to me with certainty, and I will go with you; and if he is in the land, I will search him out among all the thousands of Judah."

2323 See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hideth himself, and come ye again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah.

2323 Look and find out all the places where he hides. Then come back to me with accurate information, and I'll go with you. If it turns out he really is in the region, I'll search for him among all the clans of Judah."

2323 Investigate and find out all the hiding places there where he hides, and return to me with reliable information. Then I'll go down with you, and if he's in the land, I'll search him out among all the thousands of Judah."

2323 See and take note of all his hiding places and come back to me with the certain facts, and I will go with you. If he is in the land, I will search him out among all the thousands of Judah.

2424 Then they arose and went to Ziph before Saul. Now David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the Arabah to the south of Jeshimon.

2424 And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon.

2424 So they went to Ziph ahead of Saul. Now David and his men were in the wilderness near Maon in the Arabah south of Jeshimon,

2424 The people from Ziph got up and left Saul, while David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon in the Arabah south of Jeshimon.

2424 So they arose and went to Ziph ahead of Saul. Now David and his men were in the Wilderness of Maon, in the Arabah south of Jeshimon.

David In The Desert Of Maon

2525 When Saul and his men went to seek him, they told David, and he came down to the rock and stayed in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard it, he pursued David in the wilderness of Maon.

2525 Saul also and his men went to seek him. And they told David: wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.

2525 and Saul and his men went to look for [him]. When David was told about it, he went down to the rock and stayed in the Wilderness of Maon. Saul heard of this and pursued David there.

2525 When Saul and his men went to search for David, some people told David, and he went down to the Rock of Escape and remained in the wilderness of Maon. Saul heard this and he pursued David into the wilderness of Maon.

2525 Saul and his men went to seek him. And David was told; so he went down to the rock in the Wilderness of Maon and stayed. When Saul heard that, he pursued David in the Wilderness of Maon.

2626 Saul went on one side of the mountain, and David and his men on the other side of the mountain; and David was hurrying to get away from Saul, for Saul and his men were surrounding David and his men to seize them.

2626 And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.

2626 Saul went along one side of the mountain and David and his men went along the other side. Even though David was hurrying to get away from Saul, Saul and his men were closing in on David and his men to capture them.

2626 Saul went on one side of the mountain while David and his men went on the other side of the mountain. David was hurrying to get away from Saul while Saul and his men were closing in on David and his men to capture them.

2626 And Saul went on one side of the mountain, and David and his men on the other side of the mountain. And David made haste to get away for fear of Saul, for Saul and his men were surrounding [him] and his men to capture them.

2727 But a messenger came to Saul, saying, "Hurry and come, for the Philistines have made a raid on the land."

2727 But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land.

2727 Then a messenger came to Saul saying, "Come quickly, because the Philistines have raided the land!"

2727 Then a messenger came to Saul with this news: "Come quickly, because the Philistines have made a raid on the land!"

2727 But a messenger came to Saul, saying, Make haste and come, for the Philistines have made a raid on the land.

2828 So Saul returned from pursuing David and went to meet the Philistines; therefore they called that place the Rock of Escape.

2828 Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Selahammahlekoth.

2828 So Saul broke off his pursuit of David and went to engage the Philistines. Therefore, that place was named the Rock of Separation.

2828 So Saul turned around from pursuing David and went to meet the Philistines. Therefore, they call that place the Rock of Escape.

2828 So Saul returned from pursuing David and went against the Philistines. So they called that place the Rock of Escape.

2929 David went up from there and stayed in the strongholds of Engedi.

2929 And David went up from thence, and dwelt in strong holds at Engedi.

2929 From there David went up and stayed in the strongholds of En-gedi.

2929 David went up from there and stayed in the strongholds of En-gedi.

2929 David went up from there and dwelt in the strongholds of En-gedi.
