22 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

22 Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

22 May grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, be yours!

22 Grace (favor and spiritual blessing) to you and [heart] peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

Thanksgiving For God's Compassion And Comfort

33 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,

33 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;

33 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort.

33 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah! He is our merciful Father and the God of all comfort,

33 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of sympathy (pity and mercy) and the God [Who is the Source] of every comfort (consolation and encouragement),

44 who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

44 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

44 He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

44 who comforts us in all our suffering, so that we may be able to comfort others in all their suffering, as we ourselves are being comforted by God.

44 Who comforts (consoles and encourages) us in every trouble (calamity and affliction), so that we may also be able to comfort (console and encourage) those who are in any kind of trouble or distress, with the comfort (consolation and encouragement) with which we ourselves are comforted (consoled and encouraged) by God.

55 For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ.

55 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.

55 For as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so our comfort overflows through Christ.

55 For as the Messiah's sufferings overflow into us, so also our comfort overflows through the Messiah.

55 For just as Christ's [ own] sufferings fall to our lot [as they overflow upon His disciples, and we share and experience them] abundantly, so through Christ comfort (consolation and encouragement) is also [shared and experienced] abundantly by us.

66 But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which is effective in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer;

66 And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.

66 If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which is experienced in the endurance of the same sufferings that we suffer.

66 If we suffer, it is for your comfort and salvation. If we are comforted, it is for your comfort when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we are suffering.

66 But if we are troubled (afflicted and distressed), it is for your comfort (consolation and encouragement) and [for your] salvation; and if we are comforted (consoled and encouraged), it is for your comfort (consolation and encouragement), which works [in you] when you patiently endure the same evils (misfortunes and calamities) that we also suffer and undergo.

77 and our hope for you is firmly grounded, knowing that as you are sharers of our sufferings, so also you are sharers of our comfort.

77 And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.

77 And our hope for you is firm, because we know that as you share in the sufferings, so you will share in the comfort.

77 Our hope for you is unshaken, because we know that as you share our sufferings, you also share our comfort.

77 And our hope for you [our joyful and confident expectation of good for you] is ever unwavering (assured and unshaken); for we know that just as you share and are partners in [our] sufferings and calamities, you also share and are partners in [our] comfort (consolation and encouragement).

God Rescued Paul When He Was Suffering

88 For we do not want you to be unaware, brethren, of our affliction which came to us in Asia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life;

88 For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:

88 For we don't want you to be unaware, brothers, of our affliction that took place in the province of Asia: we were completely overwhelmed-beyond our strength-so that we even despaired of life.

88 For we do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, about the suffering we experienced in Asia. We were so crushed beyond our ability to endure that we even despaired of living.

88 For we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about the affliction and oppressing distress which befell us in [the province of] Asia, how we were so utterly and unbearably weighed down and crushed that we despaired even of life [itself].

99 indeed, we had the sentence of death within ourselves so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead;

99 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:

99 However, we personally had a death sentence within ourselves so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead.

99 In fact, we felt that we had received a death sentence so we would not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.

99 Indeed, we felt within ourselves that we had received the [very] sentence of death, but that was to keep us from trusting in and depending on ourselves instead of on God Who raises the dead.

1010 who delivered us from so great a peril of death, and will deliver us, He on whom we have set our hope. And He will yet deliver us,

1010 Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;

1010 He has delivered us from such a terrible death, and He will deliver us; we have placed our hope in Him that He will deliver us again.

1010 He has rescued us from a terrible death, and he will continue to rescue us. Yes, he is the one on whom we have set our hope, and he will rescue us again,

1010 [For it is He] Who rescued and saved us from such a perilous death, and He will still rescue and save us; in and on Him we have set our hope (our joyful and confident expectation) that He will again deliver us [from danger and destruction and draw us to Himself],

1111 you also joining in helping us through your prayers, so that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the favor bestowed on us through the prayers of many.

1111 Ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf.

1111 And you can join in helping with prayer for us, so that thanks may be given by many on our behalf for the gift that came to us through [the prayers of] many.

1111 as you also help us by your prayers for us. Then many people will thank God on our behalf because of the favor shown us through the prayers of many.

1111 While you also cooperate by your prayers for us [helping and laboring together with us]. Thus [the lips of] many persons [turned toward God will eventually] give thanks on our behalf for the grace (the blessing of deliverance) granted us at the request of the many who have prayed.

Paul's Clear Conscience

1212 For our proud confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you.

1212 For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.

1212 For our boast is this: the testimony of our conscience that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you, with God-given sincerity and purity, not by fleshly wisdom but by God's grace.

1212 For this is what we boast about: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world with pure motives and godly sincerity, without earthly wisdom but with God's grace especially toward you.

1212 It is a reason for pride and exultation to which our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world [generally] and especially toward you, with devout and pure motives and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God (the unmerited favor and merciful kindness by which God, exerting His holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, and keeps, strengthens, and increases them in Christian virtues).

1313 For we write nothing else to you than what you read and understand, and I hope you will understand until the end;

1313 For we write none other things unto you, than what ye read or acknowledge; and I trust ye shall acknowledge even to the end;

1313 Now we are writing you nothing other than what you can read and also understand. I hope you will understand completely-

1313 For what we are writing you is nothing more than what you can read and also understand. I hope you will understand completely,

1313 For we write you nothing else but simply what you can read and understand [there is no double meaning to what we say], and I hope that you will become thoroughly acquainted [with divine things] and know and understand [them] accurately and well to the end,

1414 just as you also partially did understand us, that we are your reason to be proud as you also are ours, in the day of our Lord Jesus.

1414 As also ye have acknowledged us in part, that we are your rejoicing, even as ye also are ours in the day of the Lord Jesus.

1414 as you have partially understood us-that we are your reason for pride, as you are ours, in the day of our Lord Jesus.

1414 just as you have already understood us partially, so that on the Day of our Lord Jesus we can be your reason to boast, even as you are ours.

1414 [Just] as you have [already] partially known and understood and acknowledged us and recognized that you can [honestly] be proud of us, even as we [can be proud] of you on the day of our Lord Jesus.

Paul Delays His Visit To Corinth

1515 In this confidence I intended at first to come to you, so that you might twice receive a blessing;

1515 And in this confidence I was minded to come unto you before, that ye might have a second benefit;

1515 In this confidence, I planned to come to you first, so you could have a double benefit,

1515 Because I was confident, I planned to come to you first so you might receive a double blessing.

1515 It was with assurance of this that I wanted and planned to visit you first [of all], so that you might have a double favor and token of grace (goodwill).

1616 that is, to pass your way into Macedonia, and again from Macedonia to come to you, and by you to be helped on my journey to Judea.

1616 And to pass by you into Macedonia, and to come again out of Macedonia unto you, and of you to be brought on my way toward Judaea.

1616 and to go on to Macedonia with your help, then come to you again from Macedonia and be given a start by you on my journey to Judea.

1616 I planned to leave you in order to go to Macedonia, and then come back to you from Macedonia, and let you send me on to Judea.

1616 [I wanted] to visit you on my way to Macedonia, and [then] to come again to you [on my return trip] from Macedonia and have you send me forward on my way to Judea.

1717 Therefore, I was not vacillating when I intended to do this, was I? Or what I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, so that with me there will be yes, yes and no, no at the same time?

1717 When I therefore was thus minded, did I use lightness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be yea yea, and nay nay?

1717 So when I planned this, was I irresponsible? Or what I plan, do I plan in a purely human way so that I say "Yes, yes" and "No, no" [simultaneously]?

1717 When I planned this, I did not do it lightly, did I? Are my plans so fickle that I can say "Yes" and "No" at the same time?

1717 Now because I changed my original plan, was I being unstable and capricious? Or what I plan, do I plan according to the flesh [like a worldly man], ready to say Yes, yes, [when it may mean] No, no?

1818 But as God is faithful, our word to you is not yes and no.

1818 But as God is true, our word toward you was not yea and nay.

1818 As God is faithful, our message to you is not "Yes and no."

1818 As certainly as God is faithful, we haven't talked to you with mixed messages like that.

1818 As surely as God is trustworthy and faithful and means what He says, our speech and message to you have not been Yes [that might mean] No.

1919 For the Son of God, Christ Jesus, who was preached among you by us--by me and Silvanus and Timothy--was not yes and no, but is yes in Him.

1919 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea.

1919 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us-by me and Silvanus and Timothy-did not become "Yes and no"; on the contrary, "Yes" has come about in Him.

1919 For God's Son, Jesus the Messiah, who was preached among you by us by me, Silvanus, and Timothy was not "Yes" and "No." But with him it is always "Yes."

1919 For the Son of God, Christ Jesus (the Messiah), Who has been preached among you by us, by myself, Silvanus, and Timothy, was not Yes and No; but in Him it is [always the divine] Yes.

2020 For as many as are the promises of God, in Him they are yes; therefore also through Him is our Amen to the glory of God through us.

2020 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

2020 For every one of God's promises is "Yes" in Him. Therefore the "Amen" is also through Him for God's glory through us.

2020 For all God's promises are "Yes" in him. And so through him we can say "Amen," to the glory of God.

2020 For as many as are the promises of God, they all find their Yes [answer] in Him [Christ]. For this reason we also utter the Amen (so be it) to God through Him [in His Person and by His agency] to the glory of God.

2121 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God,

2121 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;

2121 Now the One who confirms us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, is God;

2121 Now the one who makes us and you as well secure in union with the Messiah and has anointed us is God,

2121 But it is God Who confirms and makes us steadfast and establishes us [in joint fellowship] with you in Christ, and has consecrated and anointed us [ enduing us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit];

2222 who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge.

2222 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

2222 He has also sealed us and given us the Spirit as a down payment in our hearts.

2222 who has placed his seal on us and has given us the Spirit in our hearts as a down payment.

2222 [He has also appropriated and acknowledged us as His by] putting His seal upon us and giving us His [Holy] Spirit in our hearts as the security deposit and guarantee [of the fulfillment of His promise].

2323 But I call God as witness to my soul, that to spare you I did not come again to Corinth.

2323 Moreover I call God for a record upon my soul, that to spare you I came not as yet unto Corinth.

2323 I call on God as a witness against me: it was to spare you that I did not come to Corinth.

2323 I call upon God as a witness on my behalf that it was in order to spare you that I did not return to Corinth.

2323 But I call upon God as my soul's witness: it was to avoid hurting you that I refrained from coming to Corinth -- "

2424 Not that we lord it over your faith, but are workers with you for your joy; for in your faith you are standing firm.

2424 Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.

2424 Not that we have control of your faith, but we are workers with you for your joy, because you stand by faith.

2424 It is not that we are trying to rule over your faith, but rather to work with you for your joy, because you have been standing firm in the faith.

2424 Not that we have dominion [over you] and lord it over your faith, but [rather that we work with you as] fellow laborers [to promote] your joy, for in [your] faith ( in your strong and welcome conviction or belief that Jesus is the Messiah, through Whom we obtain eternal salvation in the kingdom of God) you stand firm.
