Jehu Continues Purging The House Of Ahab

1 Ahab had seventy sons living in Samaria. So Jehu wrote letters and sent them to Samaria to the leading officials of Jezreel and to the guardians of Ahab's dynasty. This is what the letters said,

1 And Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. And Jehu wrote letters, and sent to Samaria, unto the rulers of Jezreel, to the elders, and to them that brought up Ahab's children, saying,

1 Now Ahab had seventy sons in (A)Samaria. And Jehu wrote letters and sent them to Samaria, to the rulers of Jezreel, the elders, and to the guardians of the children of Ahab, saying,

1 Since Ahab had 70 sons in Samaria,(A) Jehu wrote letters and sent them to Samaria to the rulers of Jezreel,(B) to the elders, and to the guardians of Ahab’s sons,(a) saying:

1 Meanwhile, Ahab had 70 sons who lived in Samaria. So Jehu wrote letters and sent them to Samaria to the rulers of Jezreel, the elders, and the guardians of Ahab's children. He told them,

2 "You have with you the sons of your master, chariots and horses, a fortified city, and weapons. So when this letter arrives,

2 Now as soon as this letter cometh to you, seeing your master's sons are with you, and there are with you chariots and horses, a fenced city also, and armour;

2 “Now, (B)when this letter comes to you, since your master’s sons are with you, (a)as well as the chariots and horses and a fortified city and the weapons,

2 When this letter(C) arrives, since your master’s sons are with you and you have chariots, horses, a fortified city, and weaponry,

2 "As soon as you receive this letter (since your master's children are with you, you have chariots and horses there with you, and you are protected by a walled city and weaponry),

3 pick the best and most capable of your master's sons, place him on his father's throne, and defend your master's dynasty."

3 Look even out the best and meetest of your master's sons, and set him on his father's throne, and fight for your master's house.

3 select the best and (b)fittest of your master’s sons, and set him on his father’s throne, and fight for your master’s house.”

3 select the most qualified(b) of your master’s sons, set him on his father’s throne, and fight for your master’s house.

3 select the best and most qualified of your master's sons, set him in place on his father's throne, and fight for your master's dynasty!"

4 They were absolutely terrified and said, "Look, two kings could not stop him! How can we?"

4 But they were exceedingly afraid, and said, Behold, two kings stood not before him: how then shall we stand?

4 But they feared greatly and said, “Behold, (C)the two kings did not stand before him; how then can we stand?”

4 However, they were terrified and reasoned, “Look, two kings(D) couldn’t stand against him; how can we?”

4 But they were too terrified, and so they told one another, "Look! Two previous kings couldn't stand up to Jehu, so how can we?"

5 So the palace supervisor, the city commissioner, the leaders, and the guardians sent this message to Jehu, "We are your subjects! Whatever you say, we will do. We will not make anyone king. Do what you consider proper."

5 And he that was over the house, and he that was over the city, the elders also, and the bringers up of the children, sent to Jehu, saying, We are thy servants, and will do all that thou shalt bid us; we will not make any king: do thou that which is good in thine eyes.

5 And the one who was over the household, and he who was over the city, the elders, and the guardians of the children, sent word to Jehu, saying, “(D)We are your servants, all that you say to us we will do, we will not make any man king; do what is good in your sight.”

5 So the overseer of the palace, the overseer of the city, the elders, and the guardians sent a message to Jehu: “We are your servants, and we will do whatever you tell us. We will not make anyone king. Do whatever you think is right.”(c)(E)

5 So the household overseer and the city supervisor, along with the elders and the children's guardians, sent word to Jehu, telling him, "We will serve you and do everything you ask. We won't set up a king, so do what you want to do."

6 He wrote them a second letter, saying, "If you are really on my side and are willing to obey me, then take the heads of your master's sons and come to me in Jezreel at this time tomorrow." Now the king had seventy sons, and the prominent men of the city were raising them.

6 Then he wrote a letter the second time to them, saying, If ye be mine, and if ye will hearken unto my voice, take ye the heads of the men your master's sons, and come to me to Jezreel by to morrow this time. Now the king's sons, being seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, which brought them up.

6 Then he wrote a letter to them a second time saying, “If you are on my side, and you will listen to my voice, take the heads of the men, your master’s sons, and come to me at Jezreel tomorrow about this time.” Now the king’s sons, seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, who were rearing them.

6 Then Jehu wrote them a second letter, saying: If you are on my side, and if you will obey me, bring me the heads of your master’s sons at this time tomorrow at Jezreel. All 70 of the king’s sons were being cared for by the city’s prominent men.

6 But Jehu wrote them another letter: "If you're loyal to me, and if you intend to obey my commands, then bring the heads of your master's sons and meet me in Jezreel about this time tomorrow."

7 When they received the letter, they seized the king's sons and executed all seventy of them. They put their heads in baskets and sent them to him in Jezreel.

7 And it came to pass, when the letter came to them, that they took the king's sons, and slew seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets, and sent him them to Jezreel.

7 When the letter came to them, they took the king’s sons and (E)slaughtered them, seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets, and sent them to him at Jezreel.

7 When the letter came to them, they took the king’s sons and slaughtered all 70, put their heads in baskets, and sent them to Jehu at Jezreel.

7 Now the king's sons, totaling 70 men, were living with the leading men of the city, who were their guardians. When the letter from Jehu arrived, the city leaders arrested the king's sons, slaughtered all 70 of them, put their heads in baskets, and sent them to Jehu at Jezreel.

8 The messenger came and told Jehu, "They have brought the heads of the king's sons." Jehu said, "Stack them in two piles at the entrance of the city gate until morning."

8 And there came a messenger, and told him, saying, They have brought the heads of the king's sons. And he said, Lay ye them in two heaps at the entering in of the gate until the morning.

8 When the messenger came and told him, saying, “They have brought the heads of the king’s sons,” he said, “Put them in two heaps at the entrance of the gate until morning.”

8 When the messenger came and told him, “They have brought the heads of the king’s sons,” the king said, “Pile them in two heaps at the entrance of the gate until morning.”

8 When the messenger arrived to report to the king, he said, "They have brought the heads of the king's sons."

9 In the morning he went out and stood there. Then he said to all the people, "You are innocent. I conspired against my master and killed him. But who struck down all of these men?

9 And it came to pass in the morning, that he went out, and stood, and said to all the people, Ye be righteous: behold, I conspired against my master, and slew him: but who slew all these?

9 Now in the morning he went out and stood and said to all the people, “You are (c)innocent; behold, (F)I conspired against my master and killed him, but (G)who (d)killed all these?

9 The next morning when he went out and stood at the gate, he said to all the people, “You are innocent. It was I who conspired against my master and killed him.(F) But who struck down all these?

9 Jehu replied, "Put them in two piles at the entrance of the city gate until morning." The next morning, Jehu went out, stood still, and announced to all the people: "Are you righteous? I conspired against my master and killed him, but who slaughtered all of these?

10 Therefore take note that not one of the judgments the Lord announced against Ahab's dynasty has failed to materialize. The Lord had done what he announced through his servant Elijah."

10 Know now that there shall fall unto the earth nothing of the word of the LORD, which the LORD spake concerning the house of Ahab: for the LORD hath done that which he spake by his servant Elijah.

10 Know then that (H)there shall fall to the earth nothing of the word of the Lord, which the Lord spoke concerning the house of Ahab, for the Lord has done (I)what He spoke (e)through His servant Elijah.”

10 Know, then, that not a word the Lord spoke against the house of Ahab will fail,(G) for the Lord has done what He promised through His servant Elijah.”(H)

10 Keep this in mind not a single statement by the LORD will fail to come about that he spoke concerning Ahab's dynasty, because the LORD has accomplished what he predicted by his servant Elijah."

11 Then Jehu killed all who were left of Ahab's family in Jezreel, and all his nobles, close friends, and priests. He left no survivors.

11 So Jehu slew all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men, and his kinsfolks, and his priests, until he left him none remaining.

11 So Jehu (f)killed all who remained of the house of Ahab in (J)Jezreel, and all his great men and his acquaintances and his priests, until he left him without a survivor.

11 So Jehu killed all who remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel—all his great men, close friends, and priests—leaving him no survivors.

11 So Jehu executed all those who remained from Ahab's dynasty in Jezreel, including all of Ahab's men, his friends, and his priests, until there remained not even one survivor.

The Relatives Of King Ahaziah Are Killed

12 Jehu then left there and set out for Samaria. While he was traveling through Beth Eked of the Shepherds,

12 And he arose and departed, and came to Samaria. And as he was at the shearing house in the way,

12 Then he arose and departed and went to Samaria. On the way while he was at (g)Beth-eked of the shepherds,

12 Then he set out and went on his way to Samaria. On the way, while he was at Beth-eked of the Shepherds,

12 Then Jehu got up, left the city, and went to Samaria. When he arrived at the shearing house that was located on the way,

13 Jehu encountered the relatives of King Ahaziah of Judah. He asked, "Who are you?" They replied, "We are Ahaziah's relatives. We have come down to see how the king's sons and the queen mother's sons are doing."

13 Jehu met with the brethren of Ahaziah king of Judah, and said, Who are ye? And they answered, We are the brethren of Ahaziah; and we go down to salute the children of the king and the children of the queen.

13 (K)Jehu (h)met the (i)relatives of Ahaziah king of Judah and said, “Who are you?” And they (j)answered, “We are the (k)relatives of Ahaziah; and we have come down (l)to greet the sons of the king and the sons of the queen mother.”

13 Jehu met the relatives of Ahaziah king of Judah and asked, “Who are you?”They answered, “We’re Ahaziah’s(I) relatives. We’ve come down to greet the king’s sons and the queen mother’s(J) sons.”

13 Jehu met up with the relatives of King Ahaziah of Judah. He asked them, "Who are you?" They answered, "We're Ahaziah's relatives, and we've come down to greet the king's sons and the sons of the queen mother."

14 He said, "Capture them alive!" So they captured them alive and then executed all forty-two of them in the cistern at Beth Eked. He left no survivors.

14 And he said, Take them alive. And they took them alive, and slew them at the pit of the shearing house, even two and forty men; neither left he any of them.

14 He said, “Take them alive.” So they took them alive and killed them at the pit of Beth-eked, forty-two men; and he left none of them.

14 Then Jehu ordered, “Take them alive.” So they took them alive and then slaughtered them at the pit of Beth-eked—42 men. He didn’t spare any of them.(K)

14 Jehu ordered, "Take them alive!" So Jehu's soldiers captured them and executed all 42 of them near the pit at the shearing house. He left none of them alive.

All Remaining Relatives Of Ahab Are Killed

15 When he left there, he met Jehonadab, son of Rekab, who had been looking for him. Jehu greeted him and asked, "Are you as committed to me as I am to you?" Jehonadab answered, "I am!" Jehu replied, "If so, give me your hand." So he offered his hand and Jehu pulled him up into the chariot.

15 And when he was departed thence, he lighted on Jehonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him: and he saluted him, and said to him, Is thine heart right, as my heart is with thy heart? And Jehonadab answered, It is. If it be, give me thine hand. And he gave him his hand; and he took him up to him into the chariot.

15 Now when he had departed from there, he (m)met (L)Jehonadab the son of (M)Rechab coming to meet him; and he (n)greeted him and said to him, “Is your heart right, as my heart is with your heart?” And Jehonadab (o)answered, “It is.” Jehu said, “If it is, (N)give me your hand.” And he gave him his hand, and he took him up to him into the chariot.

15 When he left there, he found Jehonadab son of Rechab(L) coming to meet him. He greeted him and then asked, “Is your heart one with mine?”(d)“It is,” Jehonadab replied.Jehu said, “If it is,(e) give me your hand.”(M)So he gave him his hand, and Jehu pulled him up into the chariot with him.

15 After he left there, he encountered Rechab's son Jehonadab. After he greeted him, Jehu asked him, "Is your heart right, as my heart is with yours?" "It is," Jehonadab answered.

16 Jehu said, "Come with me and see how zealous I am for the Lord's cause." So he took him along in his chariot.

16 And he said, Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD. So they made him ride in his chariot.

16 He said, “Come with me and (O)see my zeal for the Lord.” So (p)he made him ride in his chariot.

16 Then he said, “Come with me and see my zeal(N) for the Lord!” So he let him ride with him in his chariot.

16 "If it is," Jehu replied, "Put out your hand." So Jehonadab stuck out his hand, and Jehu took him up to stand in his chariot. He told him, "Come with me and see my enthusiasm for the LORD!" So Jehu had Jehonadab ride in his chariot.

17 He went to Samaria and exterminated all the members of Ahab's family who were still alive in Samaria, just as the Lord had announced to Elijah.

17 And when he came to Samaria, he slew all that remained unto Ahab in Samaria, till he had destroyed him, according to the saying of the LORD, which he spake to Elijah.

17 When he came to Samaria, (P)he (q)killed all who remained to Ahab in Samaria, until he had destroyed him, (Q)according to the word of the Lord which He spoke to Elijah.

17 When Jehu came to Samaria, he struck down all who remained from the house of Ahab in Samaria until he had annihilated his house, according to the word of the Lord spoken to Elijah.(O)

17 When Jehu arrived in Samaria, he executed everyone who remained of Ahab's household in Samaria, until he had utterly destroyed Ahab in accordance with the message from the LORD that he spoke to Elijah.

Jehu Purges The Baal Worshipers

18 Jehu assembled all the people and said to them, "Ahab worshiped Baal a little; Jehu will worship him with great devotion.

18 And Jehu gathered all the people together, and said unto them, Ahab served Baal a little; but Jehu shall serve him much.

18 Then Jehu gathered all the people and said to them, “(R)Ahab served Baal a little; Jehu will serve him much.

18 Then Jehu brought all the people together and said to them, “Ahab served Baal(P) a little, but Jehu will serve him a lot.

18 Then Jehu assembled all the people and announced to them, "Ahab served Baal a little, but Jehu will serve him a lot!

19 So now, bring to me all the prophets of Baal, as well as all his servants and priests. None of them must be absent, for I am offering a great sacrifice to Baal. Any of them who fail to appear will lose their lives." But Jehu was tricking them so he could destroy the servants of Baal.

19 Now therefore call unto me all the prophets of Baal, all his servants, and all his priests; let none be wanting: for I have a great sacrifice to do to Baal; whosoever shall be wanting, he shall not live. But Jehu did it in subtilty, to the intent that he might destroy the worshippers of Baal.

19 Now, (S)summon all the prophets of Baal, all his worshipers and all his priests; let no one be missing, for I have a great sacrifice for Baal; whoever is missing shall not live.” But Jehu did it in (r)cunning, so that he might destroy the worshipers of Baal.

19 Now, therefore, summon to me all the prophets of Baal, all his servants, and all his priests.(Q) None must be missing, for I have a great sacrifice for Baal. Whoever is missing will not live.” However, Jehu was acting deceptively in order to destroy the servants of Baal.

19 Therefore summon all of Baal's prophets to me, including all his worshipers and all his priests. Don't leave even one out, because I've prepared a great sacrifice for Baal. Whoever doesn't show up doesn't live!" But Jehu did this deceptively, intending to destroy Baal's worshippers.

20 Then Jehu ordered, "Make arrangements for a celebration for Baal." So they announced it.

20 And Jehu said, Proclaim a solemn assembly for Baal. And they proclaimed it.

20 And Jehu said, “(T)Sanctify a solemn assembly for Baal.” And (U)they proclaimed it.

20 Jehu commanded, “Consecrate a solemn assembly(R) for Baal.” So they called one.

20 Jehu ordered, "Set aside a solemn assembly for Baal!"

21 Jehu sent invitations throughout Israel, and all the servants of Baal came; not one was absent. They arrived at the temple of Baal and filled it up from end to end.

21 And Jehu sent through all Israel: and all the worshippers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left that came not. And they came into the house of Baal; and the house of Baal was full from one end to another.

21 Then Jehu sent (s)throughout Israel and all the worshipers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left who did not come. And when they went into (V)the house of Baal, the house of Baal was filled from one end to the other.

21 Then Jehu sent messengers throughout all Israel, and all the servants of Baal(f) came; there was not a man left who did not come.(S) They entered the temple of Baal,(T) and it was filled from one end to the other.

21 And so they proclaimed it. Jehu sent the proclamation throughout Israel, and all the Baal worshipers came. There wasn't a single man left who failed to come. When they entered Baal's temple, it was filled from one end to the other.

22 Jehu ordered the one who was in charge of the wardrobe, "Bring out robes for all the servants of Baal." So he brought out robes for them.

22 And he said unto him that was over the vestry, Bring forth vestments for all the worshippers of Baal. And he brought them forth vestments.

22 He said to the one who was (t)in charge of the wardrobe, “Bring out garments for all the worshipers of Baal.” So he brought out garments for them.

22 Then he said to the custodian of the wardrobe, “Bring out the garments for all the servants of Baal.” So he brought out their garments.

22 Then Jehu ordered the one in charge of the wardrobe, "Bring out garments for all of the worshipers of Baal." So he brought out garments for them.

23 Then Jehu and Jehonadab son of Rekab went to the temple of Baal. Jehu said to the servants of Baal, "Make sure there are no servants of the Lord here with you; there must be only servants of Baal."

23 And Jehu went, and Jehonadab the son of Rechab, into the house of Baal, and said unto the worshippers of Baal, Search, and look that there be here with you none of the servants of the LORD, but the worshippers of Baal only.

23 Jehu went into the house of Baal with Jehonadab the son of Rechab; and he said to the worshipers of Baal, “Search and see that there is here with you none of the servants of the Lord, but only the worshipers of Baal.”

23 Then Jehu and Jehonadab son of Rechab entered the temple of Baal, and Jehu said to the servants of Baal, “Look carefully to see that there are no servants of the Lord here among you—only servants of Baal.”

23 Jehu and Rechab's son Jehonadab entered Baal's temple, and Jehu told the Baal worshipers, "Look around and be sure that no servant of the LORD is here among you, but only worshipers of Baal."

24 They went inside to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings. Now Jehu had stationed eighty men outside. He had told them, "If any of the men inside get away, you will pay with your lives!"

24 And when they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings, Jehu appointed fourscore men without, and said, If any of the men whom I have brought into your hands escape, he that letteth him go, his life shall be for the life of him.

24 Then they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings. Now Jehu had stationed for himself eighty men outside, and he had said, “(W)The one who permits any of the men whom I bring into your hands to escape (u)shall give up his life in exchange.”

24 Then they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings. Now Jehu had stationed 80 men outside, and he warned them, “Whoever allows any of the men I am delivering into your hands to escape will forfeit his life for theirs.”(U)

24 Then they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings. Meanwhile, Jehu had stationed 80 men outside, ordering them, "If any of these men whom I've brought into your control escape, the one who allows it will forfeit his life."

25 When he finished offering the burnt sacrifice, Jehu ordered the royal guard and officers, "Come in and strike them down! Don't let any escape!" So the royal guard and officers struck them down with the sword and left their bodies lying there. Then they entered the inner sanctuary of the temple of Baal.

25 And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, Go in, and slay them; let none come forth. And they smote them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast them out, and went to the city of the house of Baal.

25 Then it came about, as soon as he had finished offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the (v)(X)guard and to the royal officers, “(Y)Go in, (w)kill them; let none come out.” And they (x)killed them with the edge of the sword; and the (y)guard and the royal officers threw them out, and went to the (z)inner room of the house of Baal.

25 When he finished offering the burnt offering, Jehu said to the guards and officers, “Go in and kill them. Don’t let anyone out.”(V) So they struck them down with the sword. Then the guards and officers threw the bodies out and went into the inner room of the temple of Baal.

25 As soon as he had completed the burnt offering, Jehu ordered the guards and the officers, "Go in and execute them. Don't let even one man escape." So they executed them with swords, and the guards and the officers threw the bodies out and proceeded into the inner room of Baal's temple,

26 They hauled out the sacred pillar of the temple of Baal and burned it.

26 And they brought forth the images out of the house of Baal, and burned them.

26 They brought out the sacred (Z)pillars of the house of Baal and burned them.

26 They brought out the pillars of the temple of Baal and burned them

26 from which they brought out the sacred pillars and burned them.

27 They demolished the sacred pillar of Baal and the temple of Baal; it is used as a latrine to this very day.

27 And they brake down the image of Baal, and brake down the house of Baal, and made it a draught house unto this day.

27 They also broke down the sacred pillar of Baal and broke down the house of Baal, and (AA)made it a latrine to this day.

27 and tore down the pillar(W) of Baal. Then they tore down the temple of Baal and made it a latrine(X)—which it is to this day.

27 They also cut down the pillar to Baal, tore apart Baal's temple, and turned it into a latrine and it remains that way today.

Evaluation Of Jehu's Reign

28 So Jehu eradicated Baal worship from Israel.

28 Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.

28 Thus Jehu eradicated Baal out of Israel.

28 Jehu eliminated Baal worship from Israel,

28 That's how Jehu eradicated Baal from Israel.

A Summary Of Jehu's Reign

29 However, Jehu did not repudiate the sins which Jeroboam son of Nebat had encouraged Israel to commit; the golden calves remained in Bethel and Dan.

29 Howbeit from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, Jehu departed not from after them, to wit, the golden calves that were in Bethel, and that were in Dan.

29 However, (AB)as for the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which he made Israel sin, from these Jehu did not depart, even the (AC)golden calves that were at Bethel and that were at Dan.

29 but he did not turn away from the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit—worshiping the gold calves that were in Bethel and Dan.(Y)

29 Even so, Jehu never abandoned the sins of Nebat's son Jeroboam, who caused Israel to sin, regarding the golden calves that were at Bethel and Dan.

30 The Lord said to Jehu, "You have done well. You have accomplished my will and carried out my wishes with regard to Ahab's dynasty. Therefore four generations of your descendants will rule over Israel."

30 And the LORD said unto Jehu, Because thou hast done well in executing that which is right in mine eyes, and hast done unto the house of Ahab according to all that was in mine heart, thy children of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.

30 The Lord said to Jehu, “Because you have done well in executing what is right in My eyes, and have done to the house of Ahab according to all that was in My heart, (AD)your sons of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.”

30 Nevertheless, the Lord said to Jehu, “Because you have done well in carrying out what is right in My sight and have done to the house of Ahab all that was in My heart, four generations of your sons will sit on the throne of Israel.”(Z)

30 Nevertheless, the LORD told Jehu, "Because you have done well in carrying out what I saw as the right thing to do by completing everything I had in mind regarding Ahab's dynasty, your sons will sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation."

31 But Jehu did not carefully and wholeheartedly obey the law of the Lord God of Israel. He did not repudiate the sins which Jeroboam had encouraged Israel to commit.

31 But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin.

31 But Jehu (aa)(AE)was not careful to walk in the law of the Lord, the God of Israel, with all his heart; (AF)he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam, which he made Israel sin.

31 Yet Jehu was not careful to follow the instruction of the Lord God of Israel with all his heart. He did not turn from the sins that Jeroboam had caused Israel to commit.

31 But Jehu did not remain careful to walk in the instruction of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart. He never abandoned the sins of Jeroboam that had caused Israel to sin.

The Death Of Jehu

32 In those days the Lord began to reduce the size of Israel's territory. Hazael attacked their eastern border.

32 In those days the LORD began to cut Israel short: and Hazael smote them in all the coasts of Israel;

32 In those days the (AG)Lord began to cut off portions (ab)from Israel; and (AH)Hazael (ac)defeated them throughout the territory of Israel:

32 In those days the Lord began to reduce the size of Israel.(AA) Hazael(AB) defeated the Israelites throughout their territory:

33 from the Jordan River eastward, all the territory of Gilead, the descendants of Gad, the descendants of Reuben, and the descendants of Manasseh, from Aroer by the Valley of the Arnon, including Gilead and Bashan.

34 The rest of the events of Jehu's reign, including all his accomplishments and successes, are recorded in the scroll called the Annals of the Kings of Israel.

34 Now the rest of the acts of Jehu, and all that he did, and all his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

34 Now as to the rest of Jehu's activities, including his valiant deeds, they are recorded in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel, are they not?
