3 My God, my Rock, in him will I put my faith; my breastplate, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my safe place; my saviour, who keeps me safe from the violent man.
3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.

7 In my trouble my voice went up to the Lord, and my cry to my God: my voice came to his hearing in his holy Temple, and my prayer came to his ears.
7 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.
7 “(L)In my distress I called upon the Lord,Yes, I (h)cried to my God;And from His temple He heard my voice,And my cry for help came into His ears.
7 I called to the Lord in my distress;I called to my God.(I)From His temple He heard my voice, and my cry for help reached His ears.
7 I cried out to the LORD in the middle of my troubles; I cried out to my God. He listened to my voice from his sanctuary, and my call for help was heard.
8 Then the earth was moved with a violent shock; the bases of heaven were moved and shaking, because he was angry.
8 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was wroth.
8 “Then (M)the earth shook and quaked,(N)The foundations of heaven were tremblingAnd were shaken, because He was angry.
8 Then the earth shook and quaked;the foundations of the heavens(b) trembled;(J)they shook because He burned with anger.(K)
8 Just then the earth shook and trembled! The foundations of heaven reeled and quaked because the LORD was angry.
9 There went up a smoke from his nose, and a fire of destruction from his mouth: coals were lighted by it.
9 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.
9 “Smoke went up (i)out of His nostrils,(O)Fire from His mouth devoured;(P)Coals were kindled by it.
9 Smoke rose from His nostrils, and consuming fire came from His mouth;coals were set ablaze by it.(c)
9 Smoke poured out of his nostrils, and fire from his mouth kindling coals to flame by it.
16 Then the deep beds of the sea were seen, and the bases of the world were uncovered, because of the Lord's wrath, because of the breath of his mouth.
16 And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were discovered, at the rebuking of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils.
16 “Then the channels of the sea appeared,The foundations of the world were (m)laid bareBy the rebuke of the Lord,(X)At the blast of the breath of His nostrils.
16 The depths of the sea became visible, the foundations of the world were exposedat the rebuke of the Lord,at the blast of the breath(Q) of His nostrils.(R)
16 The currents of the sea were revealed and the foundations of the world were exposed at the rebuke of the LORD and at the blazing breath from his nostrils!
18 He made me free from my strong hater, from those who were against me, because they were stronger than I.
18 He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me.
18 “He delivered me from my strong enemy,From those who hated me, for they were too strong for me.
18 He rescued me from my powerful enemyand from those who hated me,for they were too strong for me.
18 He rescued me from my strong enemy from those who hate me continually, since they were stronger than I.
19 They came on me in the day of my trouble: but the Lord was my support.
19 They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.
19 They confronted me in the day of my distress, but the Lord was my support.
19 They confronted me when I was in trouble, but the LORD remained my support!
21 The Lord gives me the reward of my righteousness, because my hands are clean before him.
21 The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness: according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.
21 “(AD)The Lord has rewarded me according to my righteousness;(AE)According to the cleanness of my hands He has recompensed me.
21 The Lord rewarded meaccording to my righteousness;(U)He repaid meaccording to the cleanness of my hands.(V)
21 The LORD dealt with me according to my righteousness, rewarding me according to the degree of my innocence,
23 For all his decisions were before me, and I did not put away his laws from me.
23 For all his judgments were before me: and as for his statutes, I did not depart from them.
23 “(AG)For all His ordinances were before me,And as for His statutes, I did not depart from (n)them.
23 and because all of his decrees remain in my thoughts, I have not turned aside from his statutes,
25 Because of this the Lord has given me the reward of my righteousness, because my hands are clean in his eyes.
25 Therefore the LORD hath recompensed me according to my righteousness; according to my cleanness in his eye sight.
25 “(AI)Therefore the Lord has recompensed me according to my righteousness,According to my cleanness before His eyes.
25 The Lord has repaid me according to my righteousness, that is, according to my clean standing as he looks at me.
26 On him who has mercy you will have mercy; to the upright you will be upright;
26 With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful, and with the upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright.
26 “(AJ)With the (p)kind You show Yourself (q)kind,With the (r)blameless You show Yourself (s)blameless;
26 With the faithfulYou prove Yourself faithful;with the blameless manYou prove Yourself blameless;
26 In the company of the gracious you demonstrate your gracious love. In the company of the blamelessly valiant you demonstrate your blamelessness.
27 He who is holy will see that you are holy; but to the man whose way is not straight you will be a hard judge.
27 With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself unsavoury.
27 with the pureYou prove Yourself pure, but with the crookedYou prove Yourself shrewd.
27 In the company of the pure you demonstrate your purity. In the company of the perverted you will appear to be perverse.
28 For you are the saviour of those who are in trouble; but your eyes are on men of pride, to make them low.
28 And the afflicted people thou wilt save: but thine eyes are upon the haughty, that thou mayest bring them down.
28 You save the nation who is humble but your eyes watch the proud, to bring them down.
31 As for God, his way is all good: the word of the Lord is tested; he is a safe cover for all those who put their faith in him.
31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.
31 “(AQ)As for God, His way is (v)blameless;(AR)The word of the Lord is tested;(AS)He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
31 God—His way is perfect;(AC)the word of the Lord is pure.(AD)He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
31 This God! His way is perfect! What the LORD declares proves true. He shields everyone who flees for protection to him!
38 I go after my haters and overtake them; not turning back till they are all overcome.
38 I have pursued mine enemies, and destroyed them; and turned not again until I had consumed them.
38 I pursue my enemies and destroy them;I do not turn back until they are wiped out.
38 I pursued my enemies and conquered them; I didn't return until they were consumed.
39 I have sent destruction on them and given them wounds, so that they are not able to get up: they are stretched under my feet.
39 And I have consumed them, and wounded them, that they could not arise: yea, they are fallen under my feet.
39 “And I have devoured them and shattered them, so that they did not rise; And (BD)they fell under my feet.
39 I wipe them out and crush them, and they do not rise;they fall beneath my feet.
39 I devoured them, striking them down until they could not get up again. They fell beneath my feet.
40 For I have been armed by you with strength for the fight: you have made low under me those who came out against me.
40 For thou hast girded me with strength to battle: them that rose up against me hast thou subdued under me.
40 “For You have girded me with strength for battle; You have (ac)subdued under me (BE)those who rose up against me.
40 You strengthened me with valor sufficient for the battle; you made those who rebelled against me fall beneath me.
41 By you their backs are turned in flight, so that my haters are cut off.
41 Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me.
41 “You have also (BF)made my enemies turn their backs to me,And I (ad)destroyed those who hated me.
41 You made my enemies turn and run that is, those who hate me and I destroyed them!
42 They were crying out, but there was no one to come to their help: even to the Lord, but he gave them no answer.
42 They looked, but there was none to save; even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.
42 They look, but there is no one to save them—they look to the Lord, but He does not answer them.(AH)
42 They looked around, but there was no one to save them they looked to the LORD, but he paid no attention!
43 Then they were crushed as small as the dust of the earth, stamped down under my feet like the waste of the streets.
43 Then did I beat them as small as the dust of the earth, I did stamp them as the mire of the street, and did spread them abroad.
43 “(BI)Then I pulverized them as the dust of the earth;(BJ)I crushed and stamped them as the mire of the streets.
43 I pulverize them like dust of the earth;I crush them and trample them like mud in the streets.(AI)
43 I pulverized them to powder, like the dust of the earth; I crushed them, stomping on them like mud on a street.
44 You have made me free from the fightings of my people; you have made me the head of the nations: a people of whom I had no knowledge will be my servants.
44 Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people, thou hast kept me to be head of the heathen: a people which I knew not shall serve me.
44 “(BK)You have also delivered me from the contentions of my people;(BL)You have kept me as head of the nations;(BM)A people whom I have not known serve me.

45 Men of other countries will, with false hearts, put themselves under my authority: from the time when my name comes to their ears, they will be ruled by me.
45 Strangers shall submit themselves unto me: as soon as they hear, they shall be obedient unto me.
45 Foreigners submit to me grudgingly;as soon as they hear, they obey me.
45 Foreigners came cringing to me; they obeyed as soon as they heard me.
49 He makes me free from my haters: I am lifted up over those who come up against me: you have made me free from the violent man.
49 And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.
49 Who also brings me out from my enemies; You even lift me above (BS)those who rise up against me;(BT)You rescue me from the violent man.
49 He frees me from my enemies. You exalt me above my adversaries; You rescue me from violent men.(AO)
49 delivering me from my enemies. You exalted me above those who rebelled against me, delivering me from violent men.
50 Because of this I will give you praise, O Lord, among the nations, and will make a song of praise to your name.
50 Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name.
50 “(BU)Therefore I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the nations,And I will sing praises to Your name.
50 Because of all of this I will praise you among the nations, LORD, and I will sing praises to your name!
