Difficult Times Ahead In The Last Days
2 For men will be selfish, fond of money, boastful, haughty, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, irreverent,
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
2 For men will be (B)lovers of self, (C)lovers of money, (D)boastful, (E)arrogant, (F)revilers, (G)disobedient to parents, (H)ungrateful, (I)unholy,
2 For people will be lovers of self,(B) lovers of money,(C) boastful, proud,(D) blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,(E)
2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,
3 callous, relentless, scurrilous, dissolute, and savage; they will hate goodness,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
3 (J)unloving, irreconcilable, (K)malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, (a)(L)haters of good,
3 unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers,(F) without self-control, brutal, without love for what is good,(G)
3 unfeeling, uncooperative, slanderous, degenerate, brutal, hateful of what is good,
4 they will be treacherous, reckless and conceited, preferring pleasure to God ??5 for though they keep up a form of religion, they will have nothing to do with it as a force. Avoid all such.
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
4 traitors, reckless, conceited, and lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.
5 Some of them worm their way into families and get hold of the women-folk who feel crushed by the burden of their sins ??wayward creatures of impulse,
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
5 holding to a form of (b)(Q)godliness, although they have (R)denied its power; (S)Avoid such men as these.
5 They will hold to an outward form of godliness but deny its power. Stay away from such people.
6 who are always curious to learn and never able to attain the knowledge of the Truth.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
6 For among them are those who (c)(T)enter into households and captivate (d)(U)weak women weighed down with sins, led on by (V)various impulses,
6 For among them are those who worm their way into households and capture idle women burdened down with sins, led along by a variety of passions,(N)
6 For some of these men go into homes and deceive foolish women who are burdened with sins and swayed by all kinds of desires.
7 For these guides of theirs are hostile to the Truth, just as Jannes and Jambres were hostile to Moses; they are depraved in mind and useless for all purposes of faith.
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

8 However, they will get no further, for their aberration will be detected by everyone, as was the case with these magicians.
8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
8 Just as (X)Jannes and Jambres (Y)opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, (Z)men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith.
8 Just as Jannes and Jambres(P) resisted Moses,(Q) so these also resist the truth, men who are corrupt in mind,(R) worthless(S) in regard to the faith.
8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men oppose the truth. They are depraved in mind and their faith is a counterfeit.
The Value Of The Scriptures
9 Now you have followed my teaching, my practice, my aims, my faith, my patience, my love, my stedfastness,
9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.

11 Yes, and all who want to live the religious life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

16 to make the man of God proficient and equip him for good work of every kind.
