Difficult Times Ahead In The Last Days

11 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.

11 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

11 But know this: difficult times will come in the last days.

11 You must realize, however, that in the last days difficult times will come.

11 But understand this, that in the last days will come (set in) perilous times of great stress and trouble [hard to deal with and hard to bear].

22 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,

22 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

22 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,

22 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,

22 For people will be lovers of self and [utterly] self-centered, lovers of money and aroused by an inordinate [greedy] desire for wealth, proud and arrogant and contemptuous boasters. They will be abusive (blasphemous, scoffing), disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane.

33 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good,

33 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

33 unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, without love for what is good,

33 unfeeling, uncooperative, slanderous, degenerate, brutal, hateful of what is good,

33 [They will be] without natural [human] affection (callous and inhuman), relentless (admitting of no truce or appeasement); [they will be] slanderers (false accusers, troublemakers), intemperate and loose in morals and conduct, uncontrolled and fierce, haters of good.

44 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

44 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

44 traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

44 traitors, reckless, conceited, and lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.

44 [They will be] treacherous [betrayers], rash, [and] inflated with self-conceit. [They will be] lovers of sensual pleasures and vain amusements more than and rather than lovers of God.

55 holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.

55 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

55 holding to the form of religion but denying its power. Avoid these people!

55 They will hold to an outward form of godliness but deny its power. Stay away from such people.

55 For [although] they hold a form of piety (true religion), they deny and reject and are strangers to the power of it [their conduct belies the genuineness of their profession]. Avoid [all] such people [turn away from them].

66 For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses,

66 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

66 For among them are those who worm their way into households and capture idle women burdened down with sins, led along by a variety of passions,

66 For some of these men go into homes and deceive foolish women who are burdened with sins and swayed by all kinds of desires.

66 For among them are those who worm their way into homes and captivate silly and weak-natured and spiritually dwarfed women, loaded down with [the burden of their] sins [and easily] swayed and led away by various evil desires and seductive impulses.

77 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

77 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

77 always learning and never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.

77 These women are always studying but are never able to arrive at a full knowledge of the truth.

77 [These weak women will listen to anybody who will teach them]; they are forever inquiring and getting information, but are never able to arrive at a recognition and knowledge of the Truth.

88 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith.

88 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

88 Just as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so these also resist the truth, men who are corrupt in mind, worthless in regard to the faith.

88 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men oppose the truth. They are depraved in mind and their faith is a counterfeit.

88 Now just as Jannes and Jambres were hostile to and resisted Moses, so these men also are hostile to and oppose the Truth. They have depraved and distorted minds, and are reprobate and counterfeit and to be rejected as far as the faith is concerned.

99 But they will not make further progress; for their folly will be obvious to all, just as Jannes's and Jambres's folly was also.

99 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.

99 But they will not make further progress, for their lack of understanding will be clear to all, as theirs was also.

99 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those two men, their stupidity will be plain to everyone.

99 But they will not get very far, for their rash folly will become obvious to everybody, as was that of those [magicians mentioned].

The Value Of The Scriptures

1010 Now you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance,

1010 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

1010 But you have followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, and endurance,

1010 But you have observed my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, my faith, my patience, my love, my endurance,

1010 Now you have closely observed and diligently followed my teaching, conduct, purpose in life, faith, patience, love, steadfastness,

1111 persecutions, and sufferings, such as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium and at Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and out of them all the Lord rescued me!

1111 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.

1111 along with the persecutions and sufferings that came to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. What persecutions I endured! Yet the Lord rescued me from them all.

1111 and how I was persecuted and suffered in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. What persecutions I endured! Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them.

1111 Persecutions, sufferings -- "such as occurred to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra, persecutions I endured, but out of them all the Lord delivered me.

1212 Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

1212 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

1212 In fact, all those who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

1212 Indeed, all who want to live a godly life in union with the Messiah Jesus will be persecuted.

1212 Indeed all who delight in piety and are determined to live a devoted and godly life in Christ Jesus will meet with persecution [will be made to suffer because of their religious stand].

1313 But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

1313 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

1313 Evil people and imposters will become worse, deceiving and being deceived.

1313 But evil people and impostors will go from bad to worse as they deceive others and are themselves deceived.

1313 But wicked men and imposters will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and leading astray others and being deceived and led astray themselves.

1414 You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them,

1414 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

1414 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed, knowing those from whom you learned,

1414 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and found to be true, because you know from whom you learned it.

1414 But as for you, continue to hold to the things that you have learned and of which you are convinced, knowing from whom you learned [them],

1515 and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

1515 From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures that are able to give you the wisdom you need for salvation through faith in the Messiah Jesus.

1515 And how from your childhood you have had a knowledge of and been acquainted with the sacred Writings, which are able to instruct you and give you the understanding for salvation which comes through faith in Christ Jesus [through the leaning of the entire human personality on God in Christ Jesus in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness].
