But some men from what was called the Synagogue of the Freedmen, including both Cyrenians and Alexandrians, and some from Cilicia and

Asia, rose up and argued with Stephen.

and they sent this letter by them, “The apostles and the brethren who are elders, to the brethren in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia who are from the Gentiles, greetings.

But Paul said, “I am a Jew of Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no insignificant city; and I beg you, allow me to speak to the people.”

“I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city, educated under Gamaliel,

strictly according to the law of our fathers, being zealous for God just as you all are today.

Then I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia.

Pamphylia

Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya around Cyrene, and

visitors from Rome, both Jews and

proselytes,

Now Paul and his companions put out to sea from Paphos and came to Perga in Pamphylia; but John left them and returned to Jerusalem.

But Paul kept insisting that they should not take him along who had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not gone with them to the work.
