3 I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.

5 And I shall lift up mine eyes and see, and behold, one man being clothed with linen garments, and his loins being girded with gold of Uphaz:
5 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:
5 I lifted my eyes and looked, and behold, there was a certain man (H)dressed in linen, whose waist was (I)girded with a belt of pure (J)gold of Uphaz.
5 I looked up, and there was a man dressed in linen,(G) with a belt of gold(H) from Uphaz(b)(I) around his waist.

6 And his body as topaz, and his face as the sight of lightning, and his eyes as flames of fire, and his arms and his feet as the eye of polished brass, and the voice of his words as the voice of a multitude.
6 His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.
6 His body also was like (g)beryl, his face (h)had the appearance of lightning, (K)his eyes were like flaming torches, his arms and feet like the gleam of polished bronze, and the sound of his words like the sound of a (i)tumult.

7 And I saw, I Daniel alone, the sight: and the men that were with me saw not the sight, but a great trembling fell upon them, and they will flee in hiding themselves.
7 And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.
7 Now I, Daniel, (L)alone saw the vision, while the (M)men who were with me did not see the vision; nevertheless, a great (N)dread fell on them, and they ran away to hide themselves.
7 Only I, Daniel, saw the vision.(L) The men who were with me did not see it,(M) but a great terror fell on them,(N) and they ran and hid.
7 "Now I, Daniel, was the only one to receive the vision the men who were with me didn't see it. However, an enormous fear overwhelmed them, so they ran away to hide,
8 And I was left alone, and I shall see this great sight, and strength was not left in me: and my honor was turned upon me into destruction, and I retained not strength.
8 Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.
8 So I was (O)left alone and saw this great vision; yet (P)no strength was left in me, for my (j)natural color turned to (k)a deathly pallor, and I retained no strength.
8 I was left alone, looking at this great vision.(O) No strength was left in me; my face grew deathly pale,(d)(P) and I was powerless.
8 and I was left alone to observe this magnificent vision. Nevertheless, no strength remained in me my face lost its color, and I became weak.
9 And I shall hear the voice of his words: and in my hearing the voice of his words, and I was lying in a deep sleep upon my face, and my face to the earth.
9 Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.
9 But I heard the sound of his words; and as soon as I heard the sound of his words, I (Q)fell into a deep sleep on my face, with my face to the ground.
9 I heard the words he said, and when I heard them I fell into a deep sleep,(e)(Q) with my face to the ground.
9 As I listened to the sound of his words, I fell down on my face unconscious, with my face to the ground."

10 And behold, a hand touched upon me, and it will move me upon my knees, and the palms of my hands.
10 And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.
10 Suddenly, a hand touched me and raised me to my hands and knees.

11 And he will say to me, O Daniel, a man of desires, understand thou in the words which I speak to thee, and stand upon thy standing: for now was I sent to thee. And in his speaking with me this word I stood trembling.
11 And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.
11 He said to me, “O (S)Daniel, man of (m)high esteem, (T)understand the words that I am about to tell you and (U)stand (n)upright, for I have now been sent to you.” And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up (V)trembling.
11 He said to me, “Daniel, you are a man treasured by God.(R) Understand the words that I’m saying to you. Stand on your feet,(S) for I have now been sent to you.”(T) After he said this to me, I stood trembling.
11 He told me, "Daniel, man highly regarded, understand the message that I'm about to relate to you. Stand up, because I've been sent to you.' When he spoke this statement to me, I stood there trembling.
12 And he will say to me, Thou shalt not fear, Daniel: for from the first day that thou gavest thy heart to understand, and to humble thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I came for thy words.
12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.
12 Then he said to me, “(W)Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on (X)humbling yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response (Y)to your words.
12 “Don’t be afraid,(U) Daniel,” he said to me, “for from the first day that you purposed to understand and to humble yourself before your God,(V) your prayers were heard. I have come because of your prayers.(W)

13 And the chief of the kingdom of Persia stood against me twenty and one days: and behold, Michael, one of the first chiefs, came, to help me;: and I was left there near the kings of Persia.
13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia was (o)withstanding me for twenty-one days; then behold, (Z)Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia.
13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia opposed me for 21 days. Then Michael,(X) one of the chief princes, came to help me after I had been left there with the kings of Persia.(Y)
13 ""Don't be afraid, Daniel,' he told me, "because from the first day that you committed yourself to understand and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard. I've come in answer to your prayers.
14 And I came to cause thee to understand what shall happen to thy people in the last of the days: for yet the vision for days.
14 Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.
14 Now I have come to (AA)give you an understanding of what will happen to your people in the (p)(AB)latter days, for the vision pertains to (AC)the days yet future.”
14 Now I have come to help you understand what will happen to your people in the last days,(Z) for the vision refers to those days.”(AA)
14 However, the prince of the kingdom of Persia opposed me for 21 days. Then all of a sudden, Michael, one of the chief angels, came to assist me! I had been detained there near the kings of Persia.
15 And in his speaking with me according to these words I gave my face to the earth, and I was dumb.
15 And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb.
15 When he had spoken to me according to these words, I (q)turned my face toward the ground and became (AD)speechless.
15 While he was saying these words to me, I turned my face toward the ground and was speechless.(AB)
15 Now I've come to help you understand what will happen to your people in the days to come, because the vision pertains to those days.'
16 And behold, as the likeness of the sons of man touched upon my lips: and I shall open my mouth and speak and say to him standing before me, O my lord, by the sight my straights were turned upon me, and I retained not strength.
16 And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength.
16 And behold, (r)(AE)one who resembled a human being was (AF)touching my lips; then I opened my mouth and spoke and said to him who was standing before me, “O my lord, as a result of the vision (s)(AG)anguish has come upon me, and I have retained no strength.
16 Suddenly one with human likeness(AC) touched my lips.(AD) I opened my mouth and said to the one standing in front of me, “My lord, because of the vision, anguish overwhelms me and I am powerless.(AE)
16 "After he had spoken to me like this, I bowed my face to the ground, unable to speak.
17 And how shall this servant of my lord be able to speak with this my lord and I, from this time no strength will stand in me, and breath was not left in me.
17 For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me.
17 For (AH)how can such a servant of my lord talk with such as my lord? As for me, there remains just now (AI)no strength in me, nor has any breath been left in me.”
17 How can someone like me,(AF) your servant,(f) speak with someone like you, my lord? Now I have no strength, and there is no breath in me.”
17 But suddenly someone who resembled a human being touched my lips, so addressing the one who was standing in front of me, I opened my mouth and said, "Sir, I'm overwhelmed with anguish by this vision. I have no strength left.
18 And there will add and will touch upon me as the sight of man, and he will strengthen me.
18 Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me,
18 So how can a servant of my lord talk with someone like you, sir? And as for me, there's no strength left in me, and I can hardly breathe.'
19 And he will say, Thou shalt not fear, O man of desires: peace to thee; be strong, and be strong. And in his speaking with me I was strengthened, and saying, My lord shall speak; for thou didst strengthen me.
19 And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.
19 He said, “O man of (t)high esteem, (AK)do not be afraid. Peace (u)be with you; take (AL)courage and be courageous!” Now as soon as he spoke to me, I received strength and said, “May my lord speak, for you have (AM)strengthened me.”
19 He said, “Don’t be afraid,(AH) you who are(g) treasured by God.(AI) Peace to you; be very strong!”(AJ)As he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.”(AK)
19 "Then this person who looked like a man touched me again and strengthened me
20 And he will say, Knewest thou wherefore I came to thee? and now I will turn back to war with the chief of Persia: and I shall go forth, and behold, the chief of Grecia coming.
20 Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.
20 Then he said, “Do you (v)understand why I came to you? But I shall now return to fight against the (w)prince of Persia; so I am going forth, and behold, the (x)(AN)prince of (y)Greece is about to come.
20 He said, “Do you know why I’ve come to you? I must return at once to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I leave, the prince of Greece will come.(AL)
20 and said, "Don't be afraid, man highly regarded. Be at peace, and be strong.' "As soon as he spoke to me, I gained strength and replied, "Sir, please speak, now that you've strengthened me.'
21 But I will announce to thee that recorded in the writing of truth: and not one strengthening himself with me upon these things but Michael your chief.
21 But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.
21 However, I will tell you what is inscribed in the writing of (AO)truth. Yet there is no one who (z)stands firmly with me against these forces except (AP)Michael your prince.
21 No one has the courage to support me against them except Michael,(AM) your prince. However, I will tell you what is recorded in the book of truth. >
21 "Then he said, "Do you understand why I came to you? Soon I'll return to fight the prince of Persia. I'm going forth to war and take note the prince of Greece is coming!
