1 On account of this I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles
1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,
1 For this reason I, Paul, am the prisoner of the Messiah Jesus for the sake of you gentiles.
2 --if indeed you have heard [about] the stewardship of God's grace given to me for you.
2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:
2 you have heard, haven’t you, about the administration of God’s grace that He gave to me for you?
2 Surely you have heard about the responsibility of administering God's grace that was given to me on your behalf,
3 According to revelation the mystery was made known to me, just as I wrote beforehand in brief,
3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
3 and how this secret was made known to me through a revelation, just as I wrote about briefly in the past.
4 so that you may be able when you read to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ
4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
4 By reading this, you will be able to grasp my understanding of the secret about the Messiah,
5 (which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit):
5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
5 which in previous generations was not made known to human beings as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God's holy apostles and prophets. This is that secret:
6 [that] the Gentiles are fellow heirs, and fellow members of the body, and fellow sharers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel,
6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:
6 The gentiles are heirs-in-common, members-in-common of the body, and common participants in what was promised by the Messiah Jesus through the gospel.
7 of which I became a servant, according to the gift of God's grace given to me, according to the working of his power.
7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.
7 I have become a servant of this gospel according to the gift of God's grace that was given me by the working of his power.
8 To me, the least of all the saints, was given this grace: to proclaim the good news of the fathomless riches of Christ to the Gentiles,
8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;
8 To me, the very least of all the saints, this grace was given so that I might proclaim to the gentiles the immeasurable wealth of the Messiah
9 and to enlighten everyone [as to] what [is] the administration of the mystery hidden from the ages by God, who created all [things],
9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
9 and help everyone see how this secret that has been at work was hidden for ages by God, who created all things.
10 in order that the many-sided wisdom of God might be made known now to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly [places] through the church,
10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
10 He did this so that now, through the church, the wisdom of God in all its variety might be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realm
11 according to the purpose of the ages which he carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord,
11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:
11 in keeping with the eternal purpose that God carried out through the Messiah Jesus our Lord,
12 in whom we have boldness and access in confidence through faith in him.
12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
12 in whom we have boldness and confident access through his faithfulness.
13 Therefore I ask [you] not to be discouraged at my afflictions on behalf of you, which are your glory.
13 Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.
13 So then, I ask you not to become discouraged because of my troubles on your behalf, which work toward your glory.
14 On account of this, I bend my knees before the Father,
14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
14 This is the reason I bow my knees before the Father of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah,
15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,
15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named.
15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth receives its name.
16 that he may grant you according to the riches of his glory to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner person,
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
16 I pray that he would give you, according to his glorious riches, strength in your inner being and power through his Spirit,
17 [that] Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith (you having been firmly rooted and established in love),
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
17 and that the Messiah may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love,
17 and that the Messiah would make his home in your hearts through faith. Then, having been rooted and grounded in love,
18 in order that you may be strong enough to grasp together with all the saints what [is] the breadth, and length, and height, and depth,
18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
18 you will be able to understand, along with all the saints, what is wide, long, high, and deep
19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, in order that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
19 and to know the Messiah’s love that surpasses knowledge, so you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
19 that is, you will know the love of the Messiah which transcends knowledge, and will be filled with all the fullness of God.
20 Now to the one who is able to do beyond all measure more than all that we ask or think, according to the power that is at work in us,
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
20 Now to the one who can do infinitely more than all we can ask or imagine according to the power that is working among us
21 to him [be] the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.
21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
21 to him be glory in the church and in the Messiah Jesus to all generations, forever and ever! Amen.
