1 For this reason I Paul, I whom Jesus has made a prisoner for the sake of you Gentiles ??2 for surely you have heard how the grace of God which was vouchsafed me in your interests has ordered it,
1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,
1 For this reason I, Paul, am the prisoner of the Messiah Jesus for the sake of you gentiles.
2 how the divine secret was disclosed to me by a revelation (if you read what I have already written briefly about this,
2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:
2 you have heard, haven’t you, about the administration of God’s grace that He gave to me for you?
2 Surely you have heard about the responsibility of administering God's grace that was given to me on your behalf,
3 you can understand my insight into that secret of Christ
3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
3 and how this secret was made known to me through a revelation, just as I wrote about briefly in the past.
4 which was not disclosed to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his sacred apostles and prophets by the Spirit),
4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
4 By reading this, you will be able to grasp my understanding of the secret about the Messiah,
5 namely, that in Christ Jesus the Gentiles are co-heirs, companions, and co-partners in the Promise.
5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
5 which in previous generations was not made known to human beings as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God's holy apostles and prophets. This is that secret:
6 Such is the gospel which I was called to serve by the endowment of God's grace which was vouchsafed me, by the energy of his power;
6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:
6 The gentiles are heirs-in-common, members-in-common of the body, and common participants in what was promised by the Messiah Jesus through the gospel.
7 less than the least of all saints as I am, this grace was vouchsafed me, that I should bring the Gentiles the gospel of the fathomless wealth of Christ
7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.
7 I have become a servant of this gospel according to the gift of God's grace that was given me by the working of his power.
8 and enlighten all men upon the new order of that divine secret which God the Creator of all concealed from eternity ??10 intending to let the full sweep of the divine wisdom be disclosed now by the church to the angelic Rulers and Authorities in the heavenly sphere,
8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;
8 To me, the very least of all the saints, this grace was given so that I might proclaim to the gentiles the immeasurable wealth of the Messiah
9 in terms of the eternal purpose which he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord,
9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
9 and help everyone see how this secret that has been at work was hidden for ages by God, who created all things.
10 through whom, as we have faith in him, we enjoy our confidence of free access.
10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
10 He did this so that now, through the church, the wisdom of God in all its variety might be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realm
11 So I beg of you not to lose heart over what I am suffering on your behalf; my sufferings are an honour to you.
11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:
11 in keeping with the eternal purpose that God carried out through the Messiah Jesus our Lord,
12 For this reason, then, I kneel before the Father
12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
12 in whom we have boldness and confident access through his faithfulness.
13 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name and nature,
13 Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.
13 So then, I ask you not to become discouraged because of my troubles on your behalf, which work toward your glory.
14 praying Him out of the wealth of his glory to grant you a mighty increase of strength by his Spirit in the inner man.
14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
14 This is the reason I bow my knees before the Father of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah,
15 May Christ dwell in your hearts as you have faith!
15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named.
15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth receives its name.
16 May you be so fixed and founded in love that you can grasp with all the saints what is the meaning of 'the Breadth,' 'the Length,' 'the Depth' and 'the Height,'
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
16 I pray that he would give you, according to his glorious riches, strength in your inner being and power through his Spirit,
17 by knowing the love of Christ which surpasses all knowledge! May you be filled with the entire fulness of God!
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
17 and that the Messiah may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love,
17 and that the Messiah would make his home in your hearts through faith. Then, having been rooted and grounded in love,
18 Now to him who by the action of his power within us can do all things, aye far more than we ever ask or imagine,
18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
18 you will be able to understand, along with all the saints, what is wide, long, high, and deep
19 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations for ever and ever: Amen.
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
19 and to know the Messiah’s love that surpasses knowledge, so you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
19 that is, you will know the love of the Messiah which transcends knowledge, and will be filled with all the fullness of God.
