Children And Parents

11 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

11 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

11 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, because this is right.

11 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is the right thing to do.

11 Children, obey your parents in the Lord [as His representatives], for this is just and right.

22 HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER (which is the first commandment with a promise),

22 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)

22 Honor your father and mother -which is the first commandment with a promise-

22 "Honor your father and mother"" (This is a very important commandment with a promise.)

22 Honor (esteem and value as precious) your father and your mother -- "this is the first commandment with a promise -- "

33 SO THAT IT MAY BE WELL WITH YOU, AND THAT YOU MAY LIVE LONG ON THE EARTH.

33 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

33 that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life in the land.

33 ""so that it may go well for you, and that you may have a long life on the earth."

33 That all may be well with you and that you may live long on the earth.

44 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

44 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

44 And fathers, don't stir up anger in your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

44 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up by training and instructing them about the Lord.

44 Fathers, do not irritate and provoke your children to anger [do not exasperate them to resentment], but rear them [tenderly] in the training and discipline and the counsel and admonition of the Lord.

Slaves And Masters

55 Slaves, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ;

55 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;

55 Slaves, obey your human masters with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ.

55 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with fear, trembling, and sincerity, as when you obey the Messiah.

55 Servants (slaves), be obedient to those who are your physical masters, having respect for them and eager concern to please them, in singleness of motive and with all your heart, as [service] to Christ [Himself] -- "

66 not by way of eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.

66 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

66 Don't [work only] while being watched, in order to please men, but as slaves of Christ, do God's will from your heart.

66 Do not do this only while you're being watched in order to please them, but be like slaves of the Messiah, who are determined to obey God's will.

66 Not in the way of eye-service [as if they were watching you] and only to please men, but as servants (slaves) of Christ, doing the will of God heartily and with your whole soul;

77 With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men,

77 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:

77 Render service with a good attitude, as to the Lord and not to men,

77 Serve willingly, as if you were serving the Lord and not merely people,

77 Rendering service readily with goodwill, as to the Lord and not to men,

88 knowing that whatever good thing each one does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether slave or free.

88 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

88 knowing that whatever good each one does, slave or free, he will receive this back from the Lord.

88 because you know that everyone will receive a reward from the Lord for whatever good he has done, whether he is a slave or free.

88 Knowing that for whatever good anyone does, he will receive his reward from the Lord, whether he is slave or free.

99 And masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him.

99 And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

99 And masters, treat them the same way, without threatening them, because you know that both their and your Master is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with Him.

99 Masters, treat your slaves the same way. Do not threaten them, for you know that both of you have the same Master in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.

99 You masters, act on the same [principle] toward them and give up threatening and using violent and abusive words, knowing that He Who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and that there is no respect of persons (no partiality) with Him.

Spiritual Warfare

1010 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.

1010 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

1010 Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by His vast strength.

1010 Finally, be strong in the Lord, relying on his mighty strength.

1010 In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides].

1111 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.

1111 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

1111 Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the tactics of the Devil.

1111 Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the Devil's strategies.

1111 Put on God's whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil.

1212 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

1212 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

1212 For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens.

1212 For our struggle is not against human opponents, but against rulers, authorities, cosmic powers in the darkness around us, and evil spiritual forces in the heavenly realm.

1212 For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.

1313 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.

1313 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

1313 This is why you must take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand.

1313 For this reason, take up the whole armor of God so that you may be able to take a stand whenever evil comes. And when you have done everything you could, you will be able to stand firm.

1313 Therefore put on God's complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place].

1414 Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS,

1414 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

1414 Stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest,

1414 Stand firm, therefore, having fastened the belt of truth around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

1414 Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God,

1515 and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE;

1515 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

1515 and your feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace.

1515 and being firm-footed in the gospel of peace.

1515 And having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace.

1616 in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

1616 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

1616 In every situation take the shield of faith, and with it you will be able to extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one.

1616 In addition to having clothed yourselves with these things, having taken up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to put out all the flaming arrows of the evil one,

1616 Lift up over all the [covering] shield of saving faith, upon which you can quench all the flaming missiles of the wicked [one].

1717 And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

1717 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

1717 Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is God's word.

1717 also take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

1717 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God.

1818 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,

1818 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

1818 With every prayer and request, pray at all times in the Spirit, and stay alert in this, with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.

1818 Pray in the Spirit at all times with every kind of prayer and request. Likewise, be alert with your most diligent efforts and pray for all the saints.

1818 Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God's consecrated people).

1919 and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel,

1919 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

1919 Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel.

1919 Pray also for me, so that, when I begin to speak, the right words will come to me. Then I will boldly make known the secret of the gospel,

1919 And [pray] also for me, that [freedom of] utterance may be given me, that I may open my mouth to proclaim boldly the mystery of the good news (the Gospel),

2020 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

2020 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

2020 For this I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I might be bold enough in Him to speak as I should.

2020 for whose sake I am an ambassador in chains, desiring to declare the gospel as boldly as I should.

2020 For which I am an ambassador in a coupling chain [in prison. Pray] that I may declare it boldly and courageously, as I ought to do.
