The Priestly Garments

1 “Then (A)bring near to yourself Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, from among the sons of Israel, to minister as priest to Me—Aaron, (B)Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron’s sons.

1 And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons.

1 “Have your brother Aaron, with his sons, come to you from the Israelites to serve Me as priest—Aaron, his sons Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.(A)

1 "You are to bring your brother Aaron, along with his sons, from among the Israelis so they can serve as priests for me: that is, Aaron and his sons Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

1 “Now bring your brother Aaron near, and his sons with him from among the sons of Israel, so that he may serve as priest to Me—Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron’s sons.

2 You shall make (C)holy garments for Aaron your brother, for glory and for beauty.

2 And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother for glory and for beauty.

2 Make holy garments(B) for your brother Aaron, for glory and beauty.

2 You are to make holy garments for Aaron your brother, for dignity and beauty.

2 You are to make sacred garments [official clothing reserved for holy services] for Aaron your brother, for honor and for beauty (ornamentation).

3 You shall speak to all the (a)(D)skillful persons (E)whom I have endowed with (b)the spirit of wisdom, that they make Aaron’s garments to consecrate him, that he may minister as priest to Me.

3 And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron's garments to consecrate him, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office.

3 You are to instruct all the skilled craftsmen,(a)(C) whom I have filled with a spirit of wisdom, to make Aaron’s garments for consecrating him to serve Me as priest.

3 You are to speak to all who are skilled, whom I've endowed with talent, that they should make Aaron's garments for consecrating him to serve me as priest.

3 Tell all the skilled and talented people whom I have endowed with a spirit of wisdom, that they are to make Aaron’s garments to sanctify him and set him apart to serve as a priest for Me.

4 These are the garments which they shall make: a (c)(F)breastpiece and an ephod and a robe and a tunic of checkered work, a turban and a sash, and they shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother and his sons, that he may minister as priest to Me.

4 And these are the garments which they shall make; a breastplate, and an ephod, and a robe, and a broidered coat, a mitre, and a girdle: and they shall make holy garments for Aaron thy brother, and his sons, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office.

4 These are the garments that they must make: a breastpiece, an ephod, a robe, a specially woven tunic,(b) a turban, and a sash. They are to make holy garments for your brother Aaron and his sons so that they may serve Me as priests.

4 These are the garments that they are to make: a breast piece, an ephod, a robe, a checkered tunic, a turban, and a sash. They are to make holy garments for Aaron your brother and for his sons to serve me as priests.

4 These are the garments which they shall make: a breastpiece and an ephod [for the breastpiece] and a robe and a tunic of checkered work, a turban, and a sash. They shall make sacred garments for Aaron your brother and his sons, so that he may serve as a priest to Me.

5 They shall take (G)the gold and the (d)blue and the purple and the scarlet material and the fine linen.

5 And they shall take gold, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen.

5 They should use(c) gold; blue, purple, and scarlet yarn; and fine linen.

5 They are to use gold, blue, purple, and scarlet material, as well as fine linen."

5 They are to use the gold and the blue and the purple and the scarlet fabric and fine twisted linen [from the people],

The Ephod

6 “They shall also make (H)the ephod of gold, of (e)blue and purple and scarlet material and fine twisted linen, the work of the skillful workman.

6 And they shall make the ephod of gold, of blue, and of purple, of scarlet, and fine twined linen, with cunning work.

6 “They(D) are to make the ephod of finely spun linen embroidered with gold, and with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn.

6 "They are to make the ephod from gold, along with blue, purple, and scarlet material and fine woven linen, all of it skillfully worked.

6 and they shall make the ephod of gold and blue, purple, and scarlet fabric and fine twisted linen, skillfully woven and [beautifully] worked.

7 It shall have two shoulder pieces joined to its two ends, that it may be joined.

7 It shall have the two shoulderpieces thereof joined at the two edges thereof; and so it shall be joined together.

7 It must have two shoulder pieces attached to its two edges so that it can be joined together.

7 It is to have two shoulder-pieces attached to its two edges so it can be joined together.

7 It is to have two shoulder pieces joined to its two [back and front] ends, so that it may be joined together.

8 The skillfully woven band, which is on it, shall be like its workmanship, (f)of the same material: of gold, of (g)blue and purple and scarlet material and fine twisted linen.

8 And the curious girdle of the ephod, which is upon it, shall be of the same, according to the work thereof; even of gold, of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen.

8 The artistically woven waistband that is on the ephod(d) must be of one piece,(e) according to the same workmanship of gold, of blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and of finely spun linen.

8 The skillfully woven band that is on it is to be made like it, that is, of one piece with it, of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet material, and fine woven linen.

8 And the skillfully woven sash, which is on the ephod shall be made of the same material: of gold, of blue, purple, and scarlet fabric and fine twisted linen.

9 You shall take two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel,

9 And thou shalt take two onyx stones, and grave on them the names of the children of Israel:

9 “Take two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of Israel’s sons:

9 You are to take two onyx stones and engrave the names of the sons of Israel on them,

9 You shall take two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of the [twelve] sons of Israel,

10 six of their names on the one stone and the names of the remaining six on the (h)other stone, according to their birth.

10 Six of their names on one stone, and the other six names of the rest on the other stone, according to their birth.

10 six of their names on the first stone and the remaining six names on the second stone, in the order of their birth.

10 six of their names on one stone, and the six remaining names on the other stone. Engrave them according to their order of birth.

11 (i)As a jeweler engraves a signet, you shall engrave the two stones according to the names of the sons of Israel; you shall (j)set them in filigree settings of gold.

11 With the work of an engraver in stone, like the engravings of a signet, shalt thou engrave the two stones with the names of the children of Israel: thou shalt make them to be set in ouches of gold.

11 Engrave the two stones with the names of Israel’s sons as a gem cutter engraves a seal. Mount them, surrounded with gold filigree settings.

11 With work like a jeweler engraves on a signet, you are to inscribe the two stones with the names of the sons of Israel, and you are to mount them in settings of gold filigree.

11 With the work of a jeweler, like the engravings of a signet, you shall engrave the two stones according to the names of the sons of Israel. You shall have them set in (a)filigree [settings] of gold.

12 You shall put the two stones on the shoulder pieces of the ephod, as stones of memorial for the sons of Israel, and Aaron shall (I)bear their names before the Lord on his two shoulders (J)for a memorial.

12 And thou shalt put the two stones upon the shoulders of the ephod for stones of memorial unto the children of Israel: and Aaron shall bear their names before the LORD upon his two shoulders for a memorial.

12 Fasten both stones on the shoulder pieces of the ephod as memorial stones for the Israelites. Aaron will carry their names on his two shoulders before the Lord as a reminder.(E)

12 You are to put the two stones on the shoulder pieces of the ephod as stones of remembrance representing the sons of Israel, and Aaron is to carry their names into the LORD's presence on his two shoulders as a memorial.

12 You shall put the two stones on the [two] shoulder pieces of the ephod [of the high priest], as memorial stones for Israel; and Aaron shall bear their names on his two shoulders as a memorial before the Lord.

13 (K)You shall make filigree settings of gold,

13 And thou shalt make ouches of gold;

13 Fashion gold filigree settings

13 You are to make settings of gold filigree,

13 You shall make filigree [settings] of gold,

14 and two chains of pure gold; you shall make them of twisted cordage work, and you shall put the corded chains on the filigree settings.

14 And two chains of pure gold at the ends; of wreathen work shalt thou make them, and fasten the wreathen chains to the ouches.

14 and two chains of pure gold; you will make them of braided cord work, and attach the cord chains to the settings.

14 and you are to make two chains of pure gold twisted like cords, and then fasten the twisted chains to the filigree settings."

14 and you are to make two chains of pure gold like twisted cords, and fasten the corded chains to the settings.

The Breastpiece

15 (L)You shall make a (k)breastpiece of judgment, the work of a skillful workman; like the work of the ephod you shall make it: of gold, of (l)blue and purple and scarlet material and fine twisted linen you shall make it.

15 And thou shalt make the breastplate of judgment with cunning work; after the work of the ephod thou shalt make it; of gold, of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine twined linen, shalt thou make it.

15 “You(F) are to make an embroidered breastpiece for making decisions.(f) Make it with the same workmanship as the ephod; make it of gold, of blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and of finely spun linen.

15 "You are to make a breast piece to be worn by the high priest when he makes legal decisions. It is to be skillfully worked, made like the work of the ephod from gold, blue, purple, and scarlet material, and from fine woven linen.

15 “You are to make a breastpiece of judgment, the work of a skilled and talented craftsman; like the work of the ephod you shall make it: of gold, of blue, purple, and scarlet fabric and of fine twisted linen.

16 It shall be square and folded double, a span (m)in length and a span (n)in width.

16 Foursquare it shall be being doubled; a span shall be the length thereof, and a span shall be the breadth thereof.

16 It must be square and folded double, nine inches long and nine inches wide.(g)

16 It is to be square when folded double, one hand span long and one hand span wide.

16 The breastpiece shall be square and folded double; a span [about nine inches] in length and a span in width.

17 You shall (o)mount on it four rows of stones; the first row shall be a row of ruby, topaz and emerald;

17 And thou shalt set in it settings of stones, even four rows of stones: the first row shall be a sardius, a topaz, and a carbuncle: this shall be the first row.

17 Place a setting of gemstones(h) on it, four rows of stones:The first row should bea row of carnelian, topaz, and emerald;(i)

17 You are to mount on it a setting for four rows of stones. The first row is to contain carnelian, topaz, and emerald;

17 You shall mount on it four rows of stones: the first row shall be a row of ruby, topaz, and emerald;

18 and the second row a turquoise, a sapphire and a diamond;

18 And the second row shall be an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond.

18 the second row ruby, sapphire, and crystal;

18 the second row a turquoise, a sapphire, and a diamond;

19 and the third row a jacinth, an agate and an amethyst;

19 And the third row a ligure, an agate, and an amethyst.

20 and the fourth row a beryl and an onyx and a jasper; they shall be (p)set in gold filigree.

20 the fourth row beryl, onyx, and jasper, and they are to be set in gold filigree.

21 The stones shall be according to the names of the sons of Israel: twelve, according to their names; they shall be like the engravings of a seal, each (M)according to his name for the twelve tribes.

21 And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a signet; every one with his name shall they be according to the twelve tribes.

21 The 12 stones are to correspond to the names of Israel’s sons. Each stone must be engraved like a seal, with one of the names of the 12 tribes.

21 The stones are to correspond to the names of the sons of Israel, twelve stones corresponding to their names. They are to be engraved like a signet, each with the name of one of the twelve tribes.

21 The [engraved] stones shall be twelve, according to the names of [the twelve tribes of] the sons of Israel; they shall be like the engravings of a signet, each with its name for the twelve tribes.

22 You shall make on the (q)breastpiece chains of twisted cordage work in pure gold.

22 And thou shalt make upon the breastplate chains at the ends of wreathen work of pure gold.

22 “You are to make braided chains(n) of pure gold cord work for the breastpiece.

22 "You are to make chains of pure gold, twisted like cords, for the breast piece.

22 You shall make for the breastpiece chains of pure gold twisted like cords.

23 You shall make on the breastpiece two rings of gold, and shall put the two rings on the two ends of the breastpiece.

23 And thou shalt make upon the breastplate two rings of gold, and shalt put the two rings on the two ends of the breastplate.

23 Fashion two gold rings for the breastpiece and attach them to its two corners.

23 You are to make two gold rings for the breast piece, and put the two rings on the two edges of the breast piece.

23 You shall make on the breastpiece two rings of gold, and shall put the two rings on the two ends of the breastpiece.

24 You shall put the two cords of gold on the two rings at the ends of the breastpiece.

24 And thou shalt put the two wreathen chains of gold in the two rings which are on the ends of the breastplate.

24 Then attach the two gold cords to the two gold rings at the corners of the breastpiece.

24 You are to put the two gold cords on the two gold rings at the edges of the breast piece,

24 You shall put the two twisted cords of gold in the two rings which are on the ends of the breastpiece.

25 You shall put the other two ends of the two cords on the two filigree settings, and put them on the shoulder pieces of the ephod, at the front of it.

25 And the other two ends of the two wreathen chains thou shalt fasten in the two ouches, and put them on the shoulderpieces of the ephod before it.

25 Attach the other ends of the two cords to the two filigree settings, and in this way attach them to the ephod’s shoulder pieces in the front.

25 and you are to attach the other two ends of the two cords to the filigree settings and attach them to the shoulder pieces of the ephod in front.

25 The other two ends of the two cords you shall fasten in the two filigree settings in front, putting them on the shoulder pieces of the ephod.

26 You shall make two rings of gold and shall place them on the two ends of the breastpiece, on the edge of it, which is toward the inner side of the ephod.

26 And thou shalt make two rings of gold, and thou shalt put them upon the two ends of the breastplate in the border thereof, which is in the side of the ephod inward.

26 Make two other gold rings and put them at the two other corners of the breastpiece on the edge that is next to the inner border of the ephod.

26 "You are to make two gold rings and attach them to the two edges of the breast piece, on the side of it that is toward the inner side of the ephod.

26 You shall make two gold rings and put them at the two ends of the breastpiece, on its inside edge next to the ephod.

27 You shall make two rings of gold and put them on the bottom of the two shoulder pieces of the ephod, on the front of it close to the place where it is joined, above the skillfully woven band of the ephod.

27 And two other rings of gold thou shalt make, and shalt put them on the two sides of the ephod underneath, toward the forepart thereof, over against the other coupling thereof, above the curious girdle of the ephod.

27 Make two more gold rings and attach them to the bottom of the ephod’s two shoulder pieces on its front, close to its seam,(o) and above the ephod’s woven waistband.

27 You are to make two gold rings and attach them in front on the lower part of the two shoulder pieces of the ephod close to the place where it's joined, above the skillfully woven band of the ephod.

27 You are to make two gold rings and attach them to the lower part of the two shoulder pieces of the ephod in front, close to the place where it is joined, above the skillfully woven sash of the ephod.

28 They shall bind the breastpiece by its rings to the rings of the ephod with a (r)blue cord, so that it will be on the skillfully woven band of the ephod, and that the breastpiece will not come loose from the ephod.

28 And they shall bind the breastplate by the rings thereof unto the rings of the ephod with a lace of blue, that it may be above the curious girdle of the ephod, and that the breastplate be not loosed from the ephod.

28 The craftsmen are to tie the breastpiece from its rings to the rings of the ephod with a cord of blue yarn, so that the breastpiece is above the ephod’s waistband and does not come loose from the ephod.

28 They are to fasten the rings on the breast piece to the rings on the ephod with a blue cord so it will rest on the skillfully woven band of the ephod and so the breast piece won't come loose from the ephod.

28 They shall bind the breastpiece by its rings to the rings of the ephod with a blue cord, so that it will be above the skillfully woven sash of the ephod, so that the breastpiece will not come loose from the ephod.

29 Aaron shall carry the names of the sons of Israel in the breastpiece of judgment over his heart when he enters the holy place, for a memorial before the Lord continually.

29 And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment upon his heart, when he goeth in unto the holy place, for a memorial before the LORD continually.

29 “Whenever he enters the sanctuary, Aaron is to carry the names of Israel’s sons over his heart on the breastpiece for decisions, as a continual reminder before the Lord.

29 "Aaron is to carry the names of Israel's sons on his heart on the breast piece to be worn by the high priest when he makes legal decisions, that is, whenever he goes into the Holy Place in order to remember them continuously in the LORD's presence.

29 So Aaron shall carry the names of the sons of Israel (Jacob) in the breastpiece of judgment over his heart when he enters the Holy Place, to bring them in continual remembrance before the Lord.

30 (N)You shall put in the breastpiece of judgment the (s)(O)Urim and the Thummim, and they shall be over Aaron’s heart when he goes in before the Lord; and Aaron shall carry the judgment of the sons of Israel over his heart before the Lord continually.

30 And thou shalt put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim; and they shall be upon Aaron's heart, when he goeth in before the LORD: and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before the LORD continually.

30 Place the Urim and Thummim(G) in the breastpiece for decisions, so that they will also be over Aaron’s heart whenever he comes before the Lord. Aaron will continually carry the means of decisions for the Israelites over his heart before the Lord.

30 You are to put the Urim and Thummim into the breast piece of judgment, and they are to be on Aaron's heart when he goes into the LORD's presence. He is to carry the breast piece of decision that depicts Israel's sons on his heart in the LORD's presence continuously."

30 In the breastpiece of judgment you shall put the (b)Urim (Lights) and the Thummim (Perfections) [to be used for determining God’s will in a matter]. They shall be over Aaron’s heart whenever he goes before the Lord, and Aaron shall always carry the judgment (verdict, judicial decisions) of the sons of Israel over his heart before the Lord.

The Robe

31 (P)You shall make the robe of the ephod all of (t)blue.

31 And thou shalt make the robe of the ephod all of blue.

31 “You(H) are to make the robe of the ephod entirely of blue yarn.

31 "You are to make the robe of the ephod entirely of blue.

31 “And you shall make the (c)robe of the ephod all of blue.

32 There shall be an opening (u)at its top in the middle of it; around its opening there shall be a binding of woven work, like the opening of a coat of mail, so that it will not be torn.

32 And there shall be an hole in the top of it, in the midst thereof: it shall have a binding of woven work round about the hole of it, as it were the hole of an habergeon, that it be not rent.

32 There should be an opening at its top in the center of it. Around the opening, there should be a woven collar with an opening like that of body armor(p) so that it does not tear.

32 There is to be an opening at its top, in the middle, with a woven binding around the opening like the opening of a coat of mail so that it cannot be torn.

32 There shall be an opening at its top in the center [for the head], with a binding of woven work around the opening, like the opening in a coat of armor, so that it will not tear or fray.

33 You shall make on its hem pomegranates of blue and purple and scarlet material, all around on its hem, and bells of gold between them all around:

33 And beneath upon the hem of it thou shalt make pomegranates of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, round about the hem thereof; and bells of gold between them round about:

33 Make pomegranates of blue, purple, and scarlet yarn(q) on its lower hem and all around it. Put gold bells between them all the way around,

33 On its hem you are to make blue and purple and scarlet pomegranates, all around the skirt, with gold bells between them all the way around.

33 You shall make pomegranates of blue, purple, and scarlet fabric all around its hem, with gold bells between them;

34 a golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, all around on the hem of the robe.

34 A golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, upon the hem of the robe round about.

34 so that gold bells and pomegranates alternate around the lower hem of the robe.

34 You are to have a gold bell and a pomegranate, then a gold bell and a pomegranate, on the hem of the robe all the way around it.

34 a golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, all around the [bottom] hem of the robe.

35 It shall be on Aaron (v)when he ministers; and (w)its tinkling shall be heard when he enters and (x)leaves the holy place before the Lord, so that he will not die.

35 And it shall be upon Aaron to minister: and his sound shall be heard when he goeth in unto the holy place before the LORD, and when he cometh out, that he die not.

35 The robe must be worn by Aaron whenever he ministers, and its sound will be heard when he enters the sanctuary before the Lord and when he exits, so that he does not die.

35 Aaron is to wear the robe when he ministers so its sound may be heard when he enters and leaves the Holy Place in the LORD's presence, so that he won't die.

35 Aaron shall wear the robe when he ministers, and its sound shall be heard when he goes [alone] into the Holy Place before the Lord, and when he comes out, so that he will not die there.

The Turban

36 “You shall also make (Q)a plate of pure gold and shall engrave on it, like the engravings of a seal, ‘(R)Holy to the Lord.’

36 And thou shalt make a plate of pure gold, and grave upon it, like the engravings of a signet, HOLINESS TO THE LORD.

36 “You are to make a pure gold medallion and engrave it, like the engraving of a seal:(I)HOLY TO THE LORD.

36 "You are to make a medallion of pure gold, and engrave on it "Holy to the LORD,' like the engravings of a signet.

36 “You shall also make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it, like the engravings of a signet, ‘Holy to the Lord.’(A)

37 You shall (y)fasten it on a (z)blue cord, and it shall be on the turban; it shall be at the front of the turban.

37 And thou shalt put it on a blue lace, that it may be upon the mitre; upon the forefront of the mitre it shall be.

37 Fasten it to a cord of blue yarn so it can be placed on the turban; the medallion is to be on the front of the turban.

37 You are to put it on a blue cord and place it on the turban. It is to be on the front of the turban

37 You shall fasten it on the front of the turban with a blue cord.

38 It shall be on Aaron’s forehead, and Aaron shall (aa)(S)take away the iniquity of the holy things which the sons of Israel consecrate, with regard to all their holy gifts; and it shall always be on his forehead, that (T)they may be accepted before the Lord.

38 And it shall be upon Aaron's forehead, that Aaron may bear the iniquity of the holy things, which the children of Israel shall hallow in all their holy gifts; and it shall be always upon his forehead, that they may be accepted before the LORD.

38 It will be on Aaron’s forehead so that Aaron may bear the guilt(J) connected with the holy offerings that the Israelites consecrate as all their holy gifts. It is always to be on his forehead, so that they may find acceptance with the Lord.

38 and worn on Aaron's forehead in order to take away any guilt contained in the holy things which the Israelis consecrate as holy gifts. It is to remain on his forehead continuously, so they may be accepted in the LORD's presence.

38 It shall be on Aaron’s forehead, and Aaron shall take away the guilt from the holy things which the sons of Israel dedicate, with regard to all their holy gifts. It shall always be on his forehead, so that they may be accepted before the Lord.(B)

Other Priestly Garments

39 “You shall weave (U)the tunic of checkered work of fine linen, and shall make a turban of fine linen, and you shall make a sash, the work of a (ab)weaver.

39 And thou shalt embroider the coat of fine linen, and thou shalt make the mitre of fine linen, and thou shalt make the girdle of needlework.

39 “You are to weave the tunic from fine linen, make a turban of fine linen, and make an embroidered sash.

39 "You are to weave the checkered tunic of fine linen, you are to make a turban of fine linen, and you are to make an embroidered sash.

39 “You shall weave the tunic of checkered work of fine linen, and make a turban of fine linen. You shall make a sash, the work of an embroiderer.

40 “For Aaron’s sons you shall make (V)tunics; you shall also make sashes for them, and you shall make (ac)(W)caps for them, for glory and for beauty.

40 And for Aaron's sons thou shalt make coats, and thou shalt make for them girdles, and bonnets shalt thou make for them, for glory and for beauty.

40 Make tunics, sashes, and headbands for Aaron’s sons to give them glory and beauty.(K)

40 "You are to make tunics for the sons of Aaron, you are to make sashes for them, and you are to make head coverings for them for dignity and beauty.

40 “For Aaron’s sons you shall make tunics and sashes and [ornamental] caps, for glory and honor and beauty.

41 You shall put them on Aaron your brother and on his sons with him; and you shall (X)anoint them and (ad)ordain them and consecrate them, that they may serve Me as priests.

41 And thou shalt put them upon Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him; and shalt anoint them, and consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office.

41 Put these on your brother Aaron and his sons; then anoint,(L) ordain,(r) and consecrate(M) them, so that they may serve Me as priests.

41 You are to put them on Aaron your brother, and on his sons with him, and you are to anoint them, ordain them, and consecrate them to serve as my priests.

41 You shall put the various articles of clothing on Aaron your brother and on his sons with him, and shall anoint them and ordain and sanctify them, so that they may serve Me as priests.

42 You shall make for them (Y)linen breeches to cover their bare flesh; they shall (ae)reach from the loins even to the thighs.

42 And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness; from the loins even unto the thighs they shall reach:

42 Make them linen undergarments(N) to cover their naked bodies; they must extend from the waist(s) to the thighs.

42 "You are to make linen undergarments for them to cover their naked flesh, and they are to reach from the loins to the thighs.

42 You shall make for them [white] linen undergarments to cover their bare flesh, reaching from the waist to the thighs.

43 They shall be on Aaron and on his sons when they enter the tent of meeting, or (Z)when they approach the altar to minister in the holy place, so that they do not incur (af)guilt and die. (AA)It shall be a statute forever to him and to his (ag)descendants after him.

43 And they shall be upon Aaron, and upon his sons, when they come in unto the tabernacle of the congregation, or when they come near unto the altar to minister in the holy place; that they bear not iniquity, and die: it shall be a statute for ever unto him and his seed after him.

43 These must be worn by Aaron and his sons whenever they enter the tent of meeting or approach the altar to minister in the sanctuary area, so that they do not incur guilt(O) and die. This is to be a permanent statute(P) for Aaron and for his future descendants.

43 They shall be on Aaron and his sons when they enter the Tent of Meeting or when they approach the altar to minister in the Holy Place so they don't incur guilt and die. This is to be a perpetual ordinance for him and for his descendants after him."

43 The various articles of clothing shall be on Aaron and on his sons when they enter the Tent of Meeting, or when they approach the altar [of incense] to minister in the Holy Place, so that they do not incur guilt and die. It shall be a statute forever to Aaron and to his descendants after him.
