Covenant Stipulations

¹⁴ Do not worship any other god but Jehovah for his reputation is filled with zeal, and he is a God who demands exclusive devotion. ¹⁵ otherwise you might make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land and they would play the harlot with their gods and sacrifice to their gods, and someone might invite you to eat of his sacrifice, ¹⁶ You might take some of his daughters for your sons, and his daughters might commit spiritual immorality (fornication) with their gods and cause your sons also to commit spiritual immorality with their gods.

Numbers 25:2

The Moabites invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods. The people ate and bowed down to their gods.

Judges 2:17

Yet they would not listen to their judges, but prostituted themselves to other gods. They worshiped them. They turned quickly, out of the way in which their fathers walked obeying the commandments of Jehovah.

1 Corinthians 8:4

Concerning the eating of food offered in sacrifice to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one.

Exodus 34:12

Watch yourself that you make no covenant with the inhabitants of the land into which you are going. It will become a snare in your midst.

Leviticus 17:7

The people must stop sacrificing to goat idols (demons) and chasing after them as though they were prostitutes. This is a long lasting law for the people and for future generations.

Deuteronomy 31:16

Jehovah said to Moses: You are about to lie down with your fathers in death. This people will arise and play the harlot with the strange gods of the land. They will plunge into the midst of it. They will forsake me and break my covenant that I made with them.

Psalm 106:28

They joined in worshiping the god Baal while they were at Peor. They ate what was sacrificed to the dead.

1 Corinthians 8:7

Not all people know this. Some eat food offered to idols and their conscience being weak is defiled.

1 Corinthians 8:10

If any man with knowledge sees you having a meal from an idol's temple, will the conscience of the weak one be emboldened (encouraged) to eat food offered to idols?

1 Corinthians 10:27

If a nonbeliever invites you to a feast and you feel you must go eat whatever is set before you, asking no question for conscience sake.

Exodus 23:32

Do not make any agreement with them or with their gods.

Exodus 34:10

Jehovah said: Behold! I offer a covenant (promise) to perform signs and miracles for you that have never been done in all the earth. Neighboring nations will stand in fear and know that I was the one who did these marvelous things.

Leviticus 20:5-6

I will condemn them and their families. I will exclude them from the people. I will exclude from the people everyone who chases after Molech as if he were a prostitute.

Numbers 15:39

When you look at the threads in the tassel, you will remember all Jehovah's commandments and obey them. Then you will not do whatever you want and go after whatever you see, as if you were chasing after prostitutes.

Deuteronomy 7:2

Jehovah your God will deliver them to you. You must crush them! Completely destroy them. You should make no covenant with them. Do not show them mercy.
