9 God said further to Abraham, “Now as for you, (P)you shall keep My covenant, you and your (i)descendants after you throughout their generations.

9 And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.

9 God also said to Abraham, “As for you, you and your offspring after you throughout their generations are to keep My covenant.

9 God continued to speak to Abraham, "You and your descendants who are born in the future are to keep my covenant that is, you and your descendants, generation after generation.

10 This is my covenant which ye shall keep between me and you and thy seed after thee: that ye circumcise all your men children.

10 (Q)This is My covenant, which you shall keep, between Me and you and your (j)descendants after you: every male among you shall be circumcised.

10 This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.

10 This is My covenant, which you are to keep, between Me and you and your offspring after you: Every one of your males must be circumcised.

10 Here is my covenant that you are to observe, between me and you and your descendants: Every male among you is to be circumcised.

11 Ye shall circumcise the foreskin of your flesh, and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.

11 And (R)you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin, and it shall be the sign of the covenant between Me and you.

11 And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.

11 You must circumcise the flesh of your foreskin to serve as a sign of the covenant between Me and you.(d)(H)

11 You are all to be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin, and this is to be the sign of the covenant between me and you.

12 And every manchild when it is eight days old, shall be circumcised among you in your generations, and all servants also born at home or bought with money, though they be strangers and not of thy seed.

12 And every male among you who is (S)eight days old shall be circumcised throughout your generations, a servant who is born in the house or who is bought with money from any foreigner, who is not of your (k)descendants.

12 And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.

13 A servant who is born in your house or (T)who is bought with your money shall surely be circumcised; thus shall My covenant be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.

14 If there be any uncircumcised manchild, that hath not the foreskin of his flesh cut off, his soul shall perish from his people: because he hath broken my covenant."

14 But an uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that person shall be (U)cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant.”

14 And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.

14 If any male is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that man will be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant.”

14 Any uncircumcised male who does not have the foreskin of his flesh circumcised on the eighth day after his birth is to be eliminated from his people because he has broken my covenant."

Isaac's Birth Promised

15 And God said unto Abraham, "Sarai, thy wife, shall no more be called Sarai: but Sara shall her name be.

15 Then God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but (l)Sarah shall be her name.

15 And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.

15 God said to Abraham, “As for your wife Sarai, do not call her Sarai, for Sarah(e) will be her name.

15 God told Abraham, "As for Sarai your wife, you are not to call her Sarai any longer, because her name is to be Sarah.

16 For I will bless her and give thee a son of her; and will bless her so that people, yea and kings of people, shall spring of her."

16 I will bless her, and indeed I will give you (V)a son by her. Then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; (W)kings of peoples will (m)come from her.”

16 And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.

16 I will bless her; indeed, I will give you a son by her.(J) I will bless her, and she will produce nations; kings of peoples will come from her.”

16 I will bless her. Furthermore, I will give you a son from her. I will bless her, so that nations, kings, and people will come from her."

17 And Abraham fell upon his face and laughed, and said in his heart, "Shall a child be born unto him that is a hundred years old? And shall Sara, that is ninety years old, bear?"

17 Then Abraham (X)fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, “Will a child be born to a man one hundred years old? And (Y)will Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?”

17 Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?

17 Abraham fell facedown. Then he laughed(K) and said to himself, “Can a child be born to a hundred-year-old man? Can Sarah, a ninety-year-old woman, give birth?”

17 Abraham fell to the ground, laughed, and told himself, "Can a child be born to a 100-year-old man? Can a 90-year-old Sarah give birth?"

18 And Abraham said unto God, "O that Ishmael might live in thy sight!"

18 And Abraham said to God, “Oh that Ishmael might live before You!”

18 And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee!

18 So Abraham said to God, “If only Ishmael were acceptable to You!”(f)

18 So Abraham responded to God, "If only Ishmael would live in constant awareness that you're always with him!"

19 Then said God, "Nay. Sara thy wife shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name Isaac. And I will make my covenant with him, that it shall be an everlasting covenant unto his seed after him.

19 But God said, “No, but Sarah your wife will bear you (Z)a son, and you shall call his name (n)Isaac; and (AA)I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his (o)descendants after him.

19 And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.

19 But God said, “No. Your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will name him Isaac.(g) I will confirm My covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his future offspring.

19 But God replied, "No, but your wife Sarah will give birth to your son, and you are to name him Isaac. I'll confirm my covenant with him as an eternal covenant for his descendants.

20 And as concerning Ishmael also, I have heard thy request: lo, I will bless him and increase him, and multiply him exceedingly. Twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make a great nation of him.

20 As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I will bless him, and (AB)will make him fruitful and will multiply him exceedingly. (AC)He shall (p)become the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a (AD)great nation.

20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.

20 As for Ishmael, I have heard you. I will certainly bless him; I will make him fruitful and will multiply him greatly. He will father 12 tribal leaders,(L) and I will make him into a great nation.

20 And as for Ishmael, I've heard you. I'll bless him, and he'll have many descendants. I will multiply him greatly, he'll father twelve tribal leaders, and I'll cause his descendants to become a great nation.

21 But my covenant will I make with Isaac, which Sara shall bear unto thee: even this time, twelve month."

21 But My covenant I will establish with (AE)Isaac, whom (AF)Sarah will bear to you at this season next year.”

21 But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.

21 But I will confirm My covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this time next year.”(M)

21 Now as to Isaac, I'll confirm my covenant with him, to whom Sarah will give birth as your son at this time next year."

22 And God left off talking with him, and departed up from Abraham.

22 When He finished talking with him, (AG)God went up from Abraham.

22 And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.

22 When He finished talking with him, God withdrew(h) from Abraham.(N)

22 With that, God finished talking to Abraham, and ascended, leaving him.
