God Tests Abraham

11 Now it came about after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."

11 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.

11 After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" "Here I am," he answered.

11 Sometime later, God tested Abraham. He called out to him, "Abraham!" "Here I am!" he answered.

11 After these events, God tested and proved Abraham and said to him, Abraham! And he said, Here I am.

22 He said, "Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you."

22 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

22 "Take your son," He said, "your only [son] Isaac, whom you love, go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about."

22 God said, "Please take your son, your unique son whom you love Isaac and go to the land of Moriah. Offer him as a burnt offering there on one of the mountains that I will point out to you."

22 [God] said, Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah; and offer him there as a burnt offering upon one of the mountains of which I will tell you.

33 So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him and Isaac his son; and he split wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.

33 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.

33 So early in the morning Abraham got up, saddled his donkey, and took with him two of his young men and his son Isaac. He split wood for a burnt offering and set out to go to the place God had told him about.

33 So Abraham got up early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took two of his male servants with him, along with his son Isaac. He cut the wood for the burnt offering and set out to go to the place about which God had spoken to him.

33 So Abraham rose early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him and his son Isaac; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and then began the trip to the place of which God had told him.

44 On the third day Abraham raised his eyes and saw the place from a distance.

44 Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.

44 On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance.

44 On the third day he looked ahead and saw the place from a distance.

44 On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance.

55 Abraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey, and I and the lad will go over there; and we will worship and return to you."

55 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.

55 Then Abraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go over there to worship; then we'll come back to you."

55 Abraham ordered his two servants, "Both of you are to stay here with the donkey. Now as for the youth and me, we'll go up there, we'll worship, and then we'll return to you."

55 And Abraham said to his servants, Settle down and stay here with the donkey, and I and the young man will go yonder and worship and come again to you.

66 Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son, and he took in his hand the fire and the knife. So the two of them walked on together.

66 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.

66 Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and laid it on his son Isaac. In his hand he took the fire and the sacrificial knife, and the two of them walked on together.

66 Then Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac. Abraham carried the fire and the knife. And so the two of them went on together.

66 Then Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and laid it on [the shoulders of] Isaac his son, and he took the fire (the firepot) in his own hand, and a knife; and the two of them went on together.

77 Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, "My father!" And he said, "Here I am, my son." And he said, "Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?"

77 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?

77 Then Isaac spoke to his father Abraham and said, "My father." And he replied, "Here I am, my son." Isaac said, "The fire and the wood are here, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?"

77 Isaac addressed his father Abraham: "My father!" "I'm here, my son," Abraham replied. Isaac asked, "The fire and the wood are here, but where's the lamb for the burnt offering?"

77 And Isaac said to Abraham, My father! And he said, Here I am, my son. [Isaac] said, See, here are the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt sacrifice?

88 Abraham said, "God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." So the two of them walked on together.

88 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

88 Abraham answered, "God Himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." Then the two of them walked on together.

88 Abraham answered, "God will provide himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son."

88 Abraham said, My son, God Himself will provide a lamb for the burnt offering. So the two went on together.

99 Then they came to the place of which God had told him; and Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood, and bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood.

99 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.

99 When they arrived at the place that God had told him about, Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood. He bound his son Isaac and placed him on the altar, on top of the wood.

99 The two of them went on together and came to the place about which God had spoken. Abraham built an altar there, arranged the wood, tied up his son Isaac, and placed him on the altar on top of the wood.

99 When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham built an altar there; then he laid the wood in order and bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar on the wood.

1010 Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.

1010 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.

1010 Then Abraham reached out and took the knife to slaughter his son.

1010 Then he stretched out his hand and grabbed the knife to slaughter his son.

1010 And Abraham stretched forth his hand and took hold of the knife to slay his son.

1111 But the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."

1111 And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.

1111 But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" He replied, "Here I am."

1111 Just then, an angel of the LORD called out to him from heaven and said, "Abraham! Abraham!" "Here I am," he answered.

1111 But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, Abraham, Abraham! He answered, Here I am.

1212 He said, "Do not stretch out your hand against the lad, and do nothing to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me."

1212 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.

1212 Then He said, "Do not lay a hand on the boy or do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your only son from Me."

1212 "Don't lay your hand on the youth!" he said. "Don't do anything to him, because I've just demonstrated that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only unique one, from me."

1212 And He said, Do not lay your hand on the lad or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear and revere God, since you have not held back from Me or begrudged giving Me your son, your only son.

1313 Then Abraham raised his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him a ram caught in the thicket by his horns; and Abraham went and took the ram and offered him up for a burnt offering in the place of his son.

1313 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.

1313 Abraham looked up and saw a ram caught by its horns in the thicket. So Abraham went and took the ram and offered it as a burnt offering in place of his son.

1313 Then Abraham looked up and behind him to see a ram caught by its horns in the thicket. So Abraham went over, grabbed the ram, and offered it as a burnt offering in place of his son.

1313 Then Abraham looked up and glanced around, and behold, behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by his horns. And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up for a burnt offering and an ascending sacrifice instead of his son!

1414 Abraham called the name of that place The LORD Will Provide, as it is said to this day, "In the mount of the LORD it will be provided."

1414 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.

1414 And Abraham named that place The Lord Will Provide, so today it is said: "It will be provided on the Lord's mountain."

1414 Abraham named that place, "The LORD Will Provide," as it is told this day, "On the LORD's mountain, he will provide."

1414 So Abraham called the name of that place The Lord Will Provide. And it is said to this day, On the mount of the Lord it will be provided.

The Lord's Seventh Promise To Abraham

1515 Then the angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time from heaven,

1515 And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,

1515 Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time from heaven

1515 The angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time from heaven

1515 The Angel of the Lord called to Abraham from heaven a second time

1616 and said, "By Myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only son,

1616 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:

1616 and said, "By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord: Because you have done this thing and have not withheld your only son,

1616 and said, "I have taken an oath to swear by myself," declares the LORD, "that since you have carried this out and have not withheld your only unique son,

1616 And said, I have sworn by Myself, says the Lord, that since you have done this and have not withheld [from Me] or begrudged [giving Me] your son, your only son,

1717 indeed I will greatly bless you, and I will greatly multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your seed shall possess the gate of their enemies.

1717 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

1717 I will indeed bless you and make your offspring as numerous as the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore. Your offspring will possess the gates of their enemies.

1717 I will certainly bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in heaven and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the gates of their enemies.

1717 In blessing I will bless you and in multiplying I will multiply your descendants like the stars of the heavens and like the sand on the seashore. And your Seed (Heir) will possess the gate of His enemies,

1818 "In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice."

1818 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

1818 And all the nations of the earth will be blessed by your offspring because you have obeyed My command."

1818 Furthermore, through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed my command."

1818 And in your Seed [ Christ] shall all the nations of the earth be blessed and [by Him] bless themselves, because you have heard and obeyed My voice.

1919 So Abraham returned to his young men, and they arose and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham lived at Beersheba.

1919 So Abraham returned unto his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beersheba.

1919 Abraham went back to his young men, and they got up and went together to Beer-sheba. And Abraham settled in Beer-sheba.

1919 After this, Abraham returned to his servants and they set out together for Beer-sheba, where Abraham settled.

1919 So Abraham returned to his servants, and they rose up and went with him to Beersheba; there Abraham lived.
