1 For take heed: in those days and at the same time, when I turn again the captivity of Juda and Jerusalem,
1 For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,
1 "Look, now! In those very days and at that time, when I restore prosperity to Judah and Jerusalem,
2 I shall gather all people together, and bring them into the valley of Jehoshaphat. And there will I reason with them: because of my people and heritage of Israel; whom they have scattered about in the nations, and parted my land.
2 I will (C)gather all the nationsAnd bring them down to the (D)valley of (b)Jehoshaphat. Then I will (E)enter into judgment with them thereOn behalf of My people and My inheritance, Israel,Whom they have (F)scattered among the nations; And they have (G)divided up My land.
2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.
2 I will gather all the nations(B)and take them to the Valley of Jehoshaphat.(b)(C)I will enter into judgment with them there(D)because of My people, My inheritance Israel. The nations have scattered the Israelitesin foreign countries(E)and divided up My land.(F)
2 I will gather all nations, bringing them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. I will set out my case against them there, on behalf of my people, my heritage Israel, whom they scattered among the nations, apportioning my land among themselves.
3 Yea, they have cast lots for my people, the young men have they set in the brothel house, and sold the damsels for wine, that they might have to drink.
3 And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink.
3 They cast lots for my people they sold a young boy in exchange for a prostitute, and a girl for wine, so they could drink."
4 Thou Tyre and Sidon and all the borders of the Philistines: what have ye to do with me? Will ye defy me? Well, if ye will needs defy me, I shall recompense you, even upon your head, and that right shortly:
4 Moreover, what are you to Me, O (J)Tyre, Sidon and all the regions of (K)Philistia? Are you rendering Me a recompense? But if you do recompense Me, swiftly and speedily I will (L)return your recompense on your head.
4 Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me a recompence? and if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head;
4 "Furthermore, what have you to do with me, Tyre, Sidon, and all the sea coasts of Philistia? Are you taking revenge on me? If you are taking revenge on me, I'll send it back on you swiftly and promptly,
5 for ye have taken away my silver and gold, my fair and goodly jewels, and brought them into your gods' houses.
5 Because ye have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried into your temples my goodly pleasant things:
5 since you took my silver and gold, carried my precious treasures into your temples,
6 The children also of Judah and Jerusalem have ye sold unto the Greeks, that ye might bring them the far from the borders of their own countries.
6 The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the Grecians, that ye might remove them far from their border.
6 and sold Judah's and Jerusalem's descendants to the Greeks, so you can remove them far from their homeland!
7 Behold, therefore, I will raise them out of the place, where ye have sold them, and will reward you even upon your head.
7 Behold, I will raise them out of the place whither ye have sold them, and will return your recompence upon your own head:
7 "Look, I will bring them up from where you sold them, I will turn your revenge back upon you,
8 Your sons and your daughters will I sell through the hands of the children of Judah, and so they shall give them forth to sell, unto them of Sheba, a people of a far country: for the LORD himself hath said it.
8 And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the Sabeans, to a people far off: for the LORD hath spoken it.
8 and I will sell your sons and daughters into the control of the people of Judah. And they will sell them to the people of Sheba, a country far away." Indeed, the LORD has spoken."
9 Cry out these things among the Gentiles, proclaim war; wake up the giants, let them draw nigh; let them come up, all the lusty warriors of them.
9 Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up:
9 "Declare this among the nations: "Prepare for war! Wake up your elite forces! Let all the soldiers draw near! Call them up!
10 Make you swords of your plowshares, and spears of your sickles and scythes. Let the weak man say, "I am strong."
10 Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.
10 Beat your plow blades into swords, and your pruning knives into spears! Let the frail say, "I am strong!"
11 Muster you, and come, all ye Heathen round about. Gather you together, there shall the LORD lay all thy giants to the ground.
11 Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD.
11 Hurry and come, all you gentiles! Gather yourselves together!'" "LORD, cause your mighty army to come down.
12 Let the people arise, and get them to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit, and judge all Heathen round about.
12 Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about.
12 "Let the nations be awakened and come to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; because I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations.
13 Lay to your scythes, for the harvest is ripe. Come, get you down: the winepress is full, yea the winepresses run over, for their wickedness is waxen great.
13 Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great.
13 Put in the sickle, because the harvest is ripe. Come and go down, because the winepress is full. The wine vats are overflowing, because their evil is great!
14 In the valley appointed, there shall be many, many people: for the day of the LORD is nigh in the valley appointed.
14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.
14 "Multitudes, multitudes in the Valley of Judgment! For the Day of the LORD is near in the Valley of Judgment!
15 The sun and moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their light.
15 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.
15 The sun and moon will grow dark, and the stars will stop shining.
16 The LORD shall roar out of Zion, a cry out of Jerusalem; that the heavens and the earth shall quake withal. But the LORD shall be a defense to his own people, and a refuge for the children of Israel.
16 The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.
16 "The LORD will roar from Zion, and shout from Jerusalem. The heavens and the earth will shake, but the LORD will be the refuge of his people, and the strength of the people of Israel."
17 And ye shall know that I, the LORD your God, dwell in Zion my holy mount. And Jerusalem shall be holy, and there shall no stranger pass through there any more.
17 So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.
17 "And truly you will know that I am the LORD your God, dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain. Then Jerusalem will be holy, and no foreigners will invade her again.
18 And at that day the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the brooks of Judah shall run with water. And a fountain shall go out of the house of the LORD and water the river of Shittim.
18 And in that dayThe (AS)mountains will drip with (j)sweet wine,And the hills will (AT)flow with milk,And all the (AU)brooks of Judah will flow with water; And a (AV)spring will go out from the house of the LordTo water the valley of (k)Shittim.
18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim.
18 In that daythe mountains will drip with sweet wine,(AM)and the hills will flow with milk.(AN)All the streams of Judah will flow with water,(AO)and a spring will issue from the Lord’s house,(AP)watering the Valley of Acacias.(e)(AQ)
18 It will come about at that time that the mountains will drip with newly pressed wine, the hills will flow with milk, and the streams of Judah will flow abundantly. A fountain will spring from the Temple of the LORD, to water the Valley of the Acacias.
19 Egypt shall go to ruin, and Edom shall be a desert and a wilderness, which oppressed the children of Israel, and which shed innocent blood in their land.
19 Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.
19 Egypt will be desolate, and Edom will be a desert, because of violence against the people of Judah since they shed innocent blood in their land.
20 And Judah shall continue ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.
20 But Judah shall dwell for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.
20 But Judah will live forever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.
21 And I will cleanse their blood which I have not cleansed. And the LORD shall dwell in Zion.
21 For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for the LORD dwelleth in Zion.
21 I will acquit their bloodguilt that has not yet been acquitted. For the LORD lives in Zion!"
