1 Just at that time some people had come to tell Jesus about the Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with the blood of their sacrifices.
1 Now on the same occasion there were some present who reported to Him about the Galileans whose blood (A)Pilate had (a)mixed with their sacrifices.

3 No, I tell you; but, unless you repent, you will all perish as they did.

4 Or those eighteen men at Siloam on whom the tower fell, killing them all, do you suppose that they were worse offenders than any other inhabitants of Jerusalem?

6 And Jesus told them this parable-- "A man, who had a fig tree growing in his vineyard, came to look for fruit on it, but could not find any.
6 And He began telling this parable: “A man had (E)a fig tree which had been planted in his vineyard; and he came looking for fruit on it and did not find any.
6 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.

7 So he said to his gardener 'Three years now I have come to look for fruit on this fig tree, without finding any! Cut it down. Why should it rob the soil?'
7 And he said to the vineyard-keeper, ‘Behold, for three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree (d)without finding any. (F)Cut it down! Why does it even use up the ground?’
7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
7 He told the vineyard worker, ‘Listen, for three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down!(H) Why should it even waste the soil?’(I)
7 So he told the gardener, "Look here! For three years I've been coming to look for fruit on this tree but I haven't found any. Cut it down! Why should it waste the soil?'
8 'Leave it this one year more, Sir,' the man answered, 'till I have dug round it and manured it.
8 And he answered and said to him, ‘Let it alone, sir, for this year too, until I dig around it and put in fertilizer;
8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
8 “But he replied to him, ‘Sir,(b) leave it this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it.(J)
8 But the gardener replied, "Sir, leave it alone for one more year, until I dig around it and fertilize it.
9 Then, if it bears in future, well and good; but if not, you can have it cut down.'"
9 and if it bears fruit next year, fine; but if not, cut it down.’”

11 And he saw before him a woman who for eighteen years had suffered from weakness owing to her having an evil spirit in her. She was bent double, and was wholly unable to raise herself.
11 And there was a woman who for eighteen years had had (H)a sickness caused by a spirit; and she was bent double, and could not straighten up at all.
11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.

14 But (K)the synagogue official, indignant because Jesus (L)had healed on the Sabbath, began saying to the crowd in response, “(M)There are six days in which work should be done; so come during them and get healed, and not on the Sabbath day.”
14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.
14 But the leader of the synagogue, indignant(P) because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, responded by telling the crowd, “There are six days when work should be done;(Q) therefore come on those days and be healed and not on the Sabbath day.”
14 But the synagogue leader, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, told the crowd, "There are six days when work is to be done. So come on those days to be healed, and not on the Sabbath day."
15 "You hypocrites!" the Master answered him. "Does not every one of you let his ox or his ass loose from its manger, and take it out to drink, on the Sabbath?
15 But (N)the Lord answered him and said, “You hypocrites, (O)does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the stall and lead him away to water him?
15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?
15 But the Lord answered him and said, “Hypocrites!(R) Doesn’t each one of you untie his ox(S) or donkey from the feeding trough(T) on the Sabbath and lead it to water?(U)
15 The Lord replied to him, "You hypocrites! Doesn't each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or donkey and lead it out of its stall to give it some water?
16 But this woman, a daughter of Abraham, who has been kept in bondage by Satan for now eighteen years, ought not she to have been released from her bondage on the Sabbath?"
16 And this woman, (P)a daughter of Abraham as she is, whom (Q)Satan has bound for eighteen long years, should she not have been released from this bond on the Sabbath day?”
16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

17 As he said this, his opponents all felt ashamed; but all the people rejoiced to see all the wonderful things that he was doing.
17 As He said this, all His opponents were being humiliated; and (R)the entire crowd was rejoicing over all the glorious things being done by Him.
17 And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.

19 It is like a mustard-seed which a man took and put in his garden. The seed grew and became a tree, and 'the wild birds roosted in its branches.'"

24 "Strive to go in by the small door. Many, I tell you, will seek to go in, but they will not be able,
24 “(Z)Strive to enter through the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able.
24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
24 “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door,(AG) because I tell you, many will try to enter and won’t be able
24 He told them, "Keep on struggling to enter through the narrow door, because I tell you that many people will try to enter, but won't be able to do so.
25 When once the master of the house has got up and shut the door, while you begin to say, as you stand outside and knock, 'Sir, open the door for us.' His answer will be--'I do not know where you come from.'
25 Once the head of the house gets up and (AA)shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, ‘(AB)Lord, open up to us!’ then He will answer and say to you, ‘(AC)I do not know where you are from.’
25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
25 once the homeowner gets up and shuts the door.(AH) Then you will stand(i) outside and knock on the door, saying, ‘Lord, open up for us!’ He will answer you, ‘I don’t know you or where you’re from.’
25 After the homeowner gets up and closes the door, you can stand outside, knock on the door, and say again and again, "Lord, open the door for us!' But he will answer you, "I don't know where you come from.'
26 Then you will begin to say 'We have eaten and drunk in your presence, and you have taught in our streets,' and his reply will be--
26 Then you will (AD)begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets’;
26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.

27 'I do not know where you come from. Leave my presence, all you who are living in wickedness.'
27 and He will say, ‘I tell you, (AE)I do not know where you are from; (AF)depart from Me, all you evildoers.’
27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.

28 There, there will be weeping and grinding of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and all the Prophets, in the Kingdom of God, while you yourselves are being driven outside.
28 (AG)In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrown out.
28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.

32 And He said to them, “Go and tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I (g)(AK)reach My goal.’
32 And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.
32 He said to them, “Go tell that fox, ‘Look! I’m driving out demons and performing healings today and tomorrow, and on the third day(k) I will complete My work.’(l)(AQ)
32 He told them, "Go and tell that fox, "Listen! I am driving out demons and healing today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will finish my work.
33 But to-day and to-morrow and the day after I must go on my way, because it cannot be that a Prophet should meet his end outside Jerusalem.
33 Nevertheless (AL)I must journey on today and tomorrow and the next day; for it cannot be that a (AM)prophet would perish outside of Jerusalem.
33 Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.

34 Jerusalem! Jerusalem! she who slays the Prophets and stones the messengers sent to her--Oh, how often have I wished to gather your children round me, as a hen takes her brood under her wings, and you would not come!
34 (AN)O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, (AO)just as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not have it!
34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!

35 Verily your House is left to you desolate! and never, I tell you, shall you see me, until you say--'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.'"
35 Behold, your house is left to you desolate; and I say to you, you will not see Me until the time comes when you say, ‘(AP)Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’”
35 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
35 See, your house(m) is abandoned to you.(BA) And I tell you, you will not see Me until the time comes when you say, ‘He who comes in the name of the Lord is the blessed One’!”(BB)(n)
35 Look! Your house is left vacant to you. I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, "How blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!'"
