6 But make your way rather to the lost sheep of Israel.

6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

6 but rather go to (O)the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

6 Instead, go to the lost sheep(F) of the house of Israel.(G)

6 Instead, go to the lost sheep of the nation of Israel.

10 Not even with a bag for the journey, or a change of clothes, or sandals, or even a staff; for the worker is worth his food.

10 Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.

11 Whatever town or village you visit, find out who is worthy in that place, and remain there till you leave.

11 And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.

11 And whatever city or village you enter, inquire who is worthy in it, and stay (m)at his house until you leave that city.

12 Greet a household when you enter it,(L)

12 As you enter the house, greet its occupants.

13 Then, if the house is worthy, let your blessing rest upon it, but, if it is unworthy, let your blessing return upon yourselves.

13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

13 If the house is worthy, (p)give it your blessing of peace. But if it is not worthy, (q)take back your blessing of peace.

15 I tell you, the doom of the land of Sodom and Gomorrah will be more bearable in the 'Day of Judgment' than the doom of that town.

15 Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

15 Truly I say to you, (U)it will be more tolerable for the land of (V)Sodom and Gomorrah in (W)the day of judgment than for that city.

15 I assure you: It will be more tolerable on the day of judgment(O) for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town.(P)

15 I tell all of you with certainty, it will be more bearable for the region of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town!"

Persecution Of Disciples Predicted

16 Remember, I am sending you out as my Messengers like sheep among wolves. So be as wise as serpents, and as blameless as doves.

16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

16 (X)Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so (r)be (Y)shrewd as serpents and (Z)innocent as doves.

16 “Look, I’m sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as serpents and as harmless as doves.(Q)

16 "Pay attention, now! I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. So be as cunning as serpents and as innocent as doves.

17 Be on your guard against your fellow men, for they will betray you to courts of law, and scourge you in their Synagogues;

17 But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

17 But beware of men, for they will hand you over to the (AA)courts and scourge you (AB)in their synagogues;

17 Because people will hand you over to sanhedrins(f) and flog you in their synagogues,(R) beware of them.

17 Watch out for people who will hand you over to the local councils and whip you in their synagogues.

18 And you will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, that you may witness for me before them and the nations.

18 And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

18 and you will even be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.

18 You will even be brought before governors and kings because of Me, to bear witness to them and to the nations.(S)

18 You will be brought before governors and kings because of me, to testify to them and to unbelievers.

19 Whenever they betray you, do not be anxious as to how you shall speak or what you shall say, for what you shall say will be given you at the moment;

19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

19 (AC)But when they hand you over, (AD)do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say.

19 But when they hand you over, don’t worry about how or what you should speak.(T) For you will be given what to say at that hour,

19 When they hand you over, don't worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say, because in that hour what you are to say will be given to you.

20 For it will not be you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father that speaks within you.

20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

20 For (AE)it is not you who speak, but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.

20 because you are not speaking, but the Spirit(U) of your Father is speaking through you.(V)

20 It won't be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

21 Brother will betray brother to death, and the father his child; and children will turn against their parents, and cause them to be put to death;

21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.

21 (AF)Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and (AG)children will rise up against parents and (s)cause them to be put to death.

21 “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will even rise up against their parents and have them put to death.(W)

21 "Brother will hand brother over for execution, and a father his child. Children will rebel against parents and have them put to death.

22 And you will be hated by every one on account of my Name. Yet the man that endures to the end shall be saved.

22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

22 (AH)You will be hated by all because of My name, but (AI)it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved.

22 You will be hated by everyone because of My name.(X) But the one who endures to the end will be delivered.(g)(Y)

22 You will be hated by everyone because of my name. But the person who endures to the end will be saved.

23 But, when they persecute you in one town, escape to the next; for, I tell you, you will not have come to the end of the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

23 “But whenever they (AJ)persecute you in (t)one city, flee to (u)the next; for truly I say to you, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel (AK)until the Son of Man comes.

23 When they persecute you in one town, escape to another.(Z) For I assure you: You will not have covered the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

23 So when they persecute you in one town, flee to the next, because I tell all of you with certainty that you will not have gone through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

24 A scholar is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master.

24 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.

24 (AL)A (v)disciple is not above his teacher, nor a slave above his master.

24 A disciple(h) is not above his teacher, or a slave above his master.(AA)

24 "A disciple is not above his teacher, and a slave is not above his master.

25 It is enough for a scholar to be treated like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If the head of the house has been called Baal-zebub, how much more the members of his household!

25 It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?

25 It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, and the slave like his master. (AM)If they have called the head of the house (w)(AN)Beelzebul, how much more will they malign the members of his household!

25 It is enough for a disciple to become like his teacher and a slave like his master. If they called the head of the house ‘Beelzebul,’ how much more the members of his household!(AB)

25 It is enough for a disciple to be like his teacher and a slave to be like his master. If they have called the head of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they do the same to those of his household!"

Fear God Rather Than People

26 Do not, therefore, be afraid of them. There is nothing concealed which will not be revealed, nor anything hidden which will not become known.

26 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

26 “Therefore do not (AO)fear them, (AP)for there is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.

26 “Therefore,(AC) don’t be afraid of them, since there is nothing covered that won’t be uncovered and nothing hidden that won’t be made known.(AD)

26 "So never be afraid of them, because there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed, and nothing secret that will not be made known.

27 What I tell you in the dark, say again in the light; and what is whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops.

27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

27 (AQ)What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim (AR)upon the housetops.

27 What I tell you in the dark, speak in the light. What you hear in a whisper,(i) proclaim on the housetops.(AE)

27 What I tell you in darkness you must speak in the daylight, and what is whispered in your ear you must shout from the housetops.

28 And do not be afraid of those who kill the body, but are unable to kill the soul; rather be afraid of him who is able to destroy both soul and body in the Pit.

28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

28 Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather (AS)fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in (x)(AT)hell.

28 Don’t fear those who kill the body but are not able to kill the soul;(AF) rather, fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.(AG)

28 Stop being afraid of those who kill the body but can't kill the soul. Instead, be afraid of the one who can destroy both body and soul in hell.

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a half-penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father's knowledge.

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

29 (AU)Are not two sparrows sold for a (y)cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.

29 Aren’t two sparrows sold for a penny?(j) Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s(AH) consent.(k)

29 "Two sparrows are sold for a penny, aren't they? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father's permission.

30 While as for you, the very hairs of your head are numbered.

30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

30 But (AV)the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

30 But even the hairs of your head have all been counted.(AI)

30 Indeed, even the hairs on your head have all been counted!

31 Do not, therefore, be afraid; you are of more value than many sparrows.

31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

31 So do not fear; (AW)you are more valuable than many sparrows.

31 So don’t be afraid therefore; you are worth more than many sparrows.(AJ)

31 So stop being afraid. You are worth more than a bunch of sparrows."

Acknowledging Christ

32 Every one, therefore, who shall acknowledge me before his fellow men, I, too, will acknowledge before my Father who is in Heaven;

32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

32 “Therefore (AX)everyone who (z)confesses Me before men, I will also confess (aa)him before My Father who is in heaven.

32 “Therefore, everyone who will acknowledge Me before men, I will also acknowledge him before My Father in heaven.(AK)

32 "Therefore, everyone who acknowledges me before people I, too, will acknowledge before my Father in heaven.

33 But, if any one disowns me before his fellow men, I, too, will disown him before my Father who is in Heaven.

33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

33 But (AY)whoever (ab)denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.

33 But whoever denies Me before men,(AL) I will also deny him before My Father in heaven.

33 But whoever denies me before people I, too, will deny before my Father in heaven."

Not Peace, But A Sword Of Divisiveness

34 Do not imagine that I have come to bring peace upon the earth. I have come to bring, not peace, but the sword.

34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

34 (AZ)Do not think that I came to (ac)bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

34 Don’t assume that I came to bring peace on the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.(AM)

34 "Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword!

35 For I have come to set--'a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

35 For I came to (BA)set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;

35 For I came to turna man against his father,a daughter against her mother,a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;

35 I came to turn "a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

36 A man's enemies will be the members of his own household.'

36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

36 and (BB)a man’s enemies will be the members of his household.

36 and a man’s enemies will bethe members of his household.(AN)(l)

36 A person's enemies will include members of his own family.'

37 He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

37 (BC)He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

37 The person who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me;(AO) the person who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

37 "The one who loves his father or mother more than me isn't worthy of me, and the one who loves a son or daughter more than me isn't worthy of me.

38 And the man who does not take his cross and follow in my steps is not worthy of me.

38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

38 And (BD)he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.

38 And whoever doesn’t take up his cross and follow(m) Me is not worthy of Me.

38 The one who doesn't take up his cross and follow me isn't worthy of me.

39 He who has found his life will lose it, while he who, for my sake, has lost his life shall find it.

39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

39 (BE)He who has found his (ad)life will lose it, and he who has lost his (ae)life for My sake will find it.

39 Anyone finding(n) his life will lose it,(AP) and anyone losing(o) his life because of Me will find it.(AQ)

39 The one who finds his life will lose it, and the one who loses his life because of me will find it."

On Rewards

40 He who welcomes you is welcoming me; and he who welcomes me is welcoming him who sent me as his Messenger.

40 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

40 (BF)He who receives you receives Me, and (BG)he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.

40 “The one who welcomes you welcomes Me,(AR) and the one who welcomes Me welcomes Him who sent Me.(AS)

40 "The one who receives you receives me, and the one who receives me receives the one who sent me.

41 He who welcomes a Prophet, because he is a Prophet, shall receive a Prophet's reward; and he who welcomes a good man, because he is a good man, shall receive a good man's reward.

41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

41 (BH)He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.

41 Anyone who(p) welcomes a prophet(AT) because he is a prophet(q) will receive a prophet’s reward. And anyone who(r) welcomes a righteous person because he’s righteous(s) will receive a righteous person’s reward.

41 The one who receives a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and the one who receives a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person's reward.

42 And, if any one gives but a cup of cold water to one of these lowly ones because he is a disciple, I tell you that he shall assuredly not lose his reward."

42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

42 And (BI)whoever in the name of a disciple gives to one of these (af)little ones even a cup of cold water to drink, truly I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.”

42 And whoever gives(AU) just a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is a disciple(t)(AV)—I assure you: He will never lose his reward!”

42 I tell all of you with certainty, whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is a disciple will never lose his reward."
