1 And the Pharisees and Sadducees having come, tempting, asked him to shew them a sign from heaven.

1 When the Pharisees and Sadducees arrived, in order to test Jesus they asked him to show them a sign from heaven.
2 And he having answered, said to them, It being evening, ye say, Calm weather: for the heaven is fiery red.
2 But He replied to them, “(b)(D)When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’
2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.

2 He replied to them, "You say, "Red sky at night, what a delight!
3 And in the morning, Today, wintry weather: for heaven, being sad, is fiery red. Hypocrites, truly ye know to decide the face of heaven, but the signs of the times ye cannot.
3 And in the morning, ‘There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ (E)Do you know how to discern the (c)appearance of the sky, but cannot discern the signs of the times?
3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
3 And in the morning, ‘Today will be stormy because the sky is red and threatening.’ You(a) know how to read the appearance of the sky, but you can’t read the signs of the times.(b)

4 An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign; and no sign shall be given her, except the sign of Jonas the prophet. And having left them, he departed.
4 (F)An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a (d)sign; and a (e)sign will not be given it, except the sign of Jonah.” And He left them and went away.
4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

4 You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, yet you can't interpret the signs of the times? An evil and adulterous generation craves a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah." Then he left them and went away.
5 And his disciples having come to the other side, forgot to take loaves.
5 And the disciples came to the other side of the sea, but they had forgotten to bring any bread.

6 And Jesus said to them, Attend and keep from the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.

6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, Because we took no loaves.
7 They began to discuss this among themselves, saying, “He said that because we did not bring any bread.”

8 And Jesus having known, said to them, Why reason ye among yourselves, O ye of little faith, because ye have taken no loaves

8 Knowing this, Jesus asked them, "You who have little faith, why are you discussing among yourselves the fact that you don't have any bread?
9 Do ye not yet understand, nor remember the five loaves of five thousand, and how many baskets ye took?

12 Then understood they that he spake, not to keep from the leaven of bread, but from the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

18 And I say to thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock will I build my church; and the gates of hell shall not overcome her.
18 I also say to you that you are (l)(Y)Peter, and upon this (m)rock I will build My church; and the gates of (Z)Hades will not overpower it.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

19 And I will give thee the keys of the kingdom of the heavens: and whatever thou shalt bind upon earth shall be bound in the heavens: and whatever thou shalt loose upon earth shall be loosed in the heavens.
19 I will give you (AA)the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and (AB)whatever you bind on earth (n)shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth (o)shall have been loosed in heaven.”
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven,(O) and whatever you bind on earth is already bound(l) in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth is already loosed(m) in heaven.”
19 I will give you the keys to the kingdom from heaven. Whatever you prohibit on earth will have been prohibited in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will have been permitted in heaven."
21 From then Jesus began to shew to his disciples, that he must depart to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised in the third day.
21 (AE)From that time (r)Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and (AF)suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised up on the third day.
21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

21 From that time on, Jesus began to show his disciples that he would have to go to Jerusalem and suffer a great deal because of the elders, the high priests, and the scribes. Then he would be killed, but on the third day he would be raised.
22 And Peter having taken him, began to reproach him, saying, Be propitious to thyself, Lord: this shall not be to thee.
22 Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “(s)God forbid it, Lord! This shall never (t)happen to You.”
22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.

23 And having turned, he said to Peter, Retire behind me, Satan: thou art an offence, to me: for thou hast not in mind the things of God, but the things of men.
23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, (AG)Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on (u)God’s interests, but man’s.”
23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
23 But He turned and told Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me because you’re not thinking about God’s concerns,(p) but man’s.”(S)
23 But Jesus turned and told Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are an offense to me, because you are not thinking God's thoughts but human thoughts!"
24 Then said Jesus to his disciples, If any wish to come after me, let him deny himself absolutely, and lift up his cross, and follow me.
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and (AH)take up his cross and follow Me.

27 For the Son of man is about to come in the glory of his Father with his messengers; and then he will give back to each according to his deed.
