Matthew 24

¹ AND Jesus went out and departed from the temple; and his disciples came to him to show him the buildings of the temple.

^{1 (A)}Jesus ^(B)came out from the temple and was going away ^(a)when His disciples came up to point out the temple buildings to Him.

¹ And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.

¹ As Jesus left and was going out of the temple complex,^(A) His disciples^(B) came up and called His attention to the temple buildings.

¹ As Jesus left the Temple and was walking away, his disciples came up to him to point out to him the Temple buildings.

³ And as he sat on the Mount of Olives the disciples came to him privately, saying, Tell us when these things shall be; and what shall be the sign of your coming, and of the consummation of the world?

³ As He was sitting on ^(D)the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of ^(E)Your coming, and of the ^(b)end of the age?”

³ And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

³ While He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached Him privately and said, “Tell us, when will these things happen? And what is the sign of Your coming and of the end of the age?”^(C)

³ While Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately and said, "Tell us, when will these things take place, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?"

⁵ for many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, and shall deceive many.

⁵ For ^(G)many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the ^(c)Christ,’ and will mislead many.

⁵ For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

⁵ For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and they will deceive many.^(E)

⁵ because many will come in my name and say, "I'm the Messiah,' and they will deceive many people.

⁷ For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in different places;

⁷ For ^(I)nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be ^(J)famines and earthquakes.

⁷ For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

⁷ For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines^(a)(F) and earthquakes in various places.^(G)

⁷ because nation will rise up in arms against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.

⁹ Then they shall deliver you to affliction, and kill you, and you shall be hated by all nations on my account;

⁹ “^(L)Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and ^(M)you will be hated by all nations because of My name.

⁹ Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

⁹ “Then they will hand you over for persecution,^(b) and they will kill you. You will be hated by all nations because of My name.^(I)

⁹ "Then they'll hand you over to suffer and will kill you, and you'll be hated by all the nations because of my name.

¹¹ and many false prophets shall be raised up and deceive many,

¹¹ Many ^(O)false prophets will arise and will mislead many.

¹¹ And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

¹¹ Many false prophets^(J) will rise up and deceive many.

¹¹ Many false prophets will appear and deceive many people,

¹³ but he that endures to the end shall be saved.

^{13 (P)}But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.

¹³ But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

¹³ But the one who endures to the end will be delivered.^(c)

¹³ But the person who endures to the end will be saved.

¹⁵ When, therefore, you see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in a holy place??et him that reads understand,??16 then let those in Judea flee to the mountains.

¹⁵ “Therefore when you see the ^(T)abomination of desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in ^(U)the holy place (^(V)let the reader understand),

¹⁵ When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

¹⁵ “So when you see the abomination that causes desolation,^(e)(f) spoken of by the prophet Daniel,^(N) standing in the holy place”^(O) (let the reader understand^(g)),

¹⁵ "So when you see the destructive desecration, mentioned by the prophet Daniel, standing in the Holy Place (let the reader take note),

¹⁷ and let not him that is in the field return back to take his clothes;

^{17 (h)}Whoever is on ^(W)the housetop must not go down to get the things out that are in his house.

¹⁷ Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

¹⁷ A man on the housetop^(h) must not come down to get things out of his house.^(P)

¹⁷ Anyone who's on the housetop must not come down to get what is in his house,

¹⁹ But pray that your flight may not be in the winter, nor on the Sabbath;

¹⁹ But ^(X)woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days!

¹⁹ And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

¹⁹ Woe to pregnant women and nursing mothers in those days!

¹⁹ "How terrible it will be for women who are pregnant or who are nursing babies in those days!

²¹ And unless those days were shortened no flesh would be saved: but on account of the elect those days shall be shortened.

²¹ For then there will be a ^(Y)great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will.

²¹ For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

²¹ For at that time there will be great tribulation,^(Q) the kind that hasn’t taken place from the beginning of the world until now and never will again!

²¹ because at that time there will be great suffering, the kind that hasn't happened from the beginning of the world until now and certainly won't ever happen again.

²³ For false Christs and false prophets shall be raised up, and shall show great signs and wonders, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

^{23 (AA)}Then if anyone says to you, ‘Behold, here is the ^(l)Christ,’ or ‘^(m)There He is,’ do not believe him.

²³ Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

²³ “If anyone tells you then, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’^(S) or, ‘Over here!’ do not believe it!^(T)

²³ "At that time, if anyone says to you, "Look! Here's the Messiah!' or "There he is!', don't believe it,

²⁵ If, therefore, they say to you, Behold he is in the wilderness, go not forth; Behold he is in private rooms, believe it not.

²⁵ Behold, I have told you in advance.

²⁵ Behold, I have told you before.

²⁵ Take note: I have told you in advance.

²⁵ Remember, I've told you this beforehand.

²⁷ Wherever the dead body is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

^{27 (AE)}For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes even to the west, so will the ^(AF)coming of the ^(AG)Son of Man be.

²⁷ For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

²⁷ For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.^(V)

²⁷ because just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

²⁹ And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn; and they shall see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.

²⁹ “But immediately after the ^(AI)tribulation of those days ^(AJ)the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and ^(AK)the stars will fall from ^(r)the sky, and the powers of ^(s)the heavens will be shaken.

²⁹ Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

²⁹ “Immediately after the tribulation^(X) of those days:The sun will be darkened,and the moon will not shed its light;the stars will fall from the sky,and the celestial powers will be shaken.

²⁹ "Immediately after the troubles of those days, "The sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of heaven will be shaken loose.'

³¹ But learn the parable of the fig tree. When its branch is now green, and puts forth leaves, you know that the summer is nigh.

³¹ And ^(AN)He will send forth His angels with ^(AO)a great trumpet and they will gather together His ^(t)(AP)elect from ^(AQ)the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

³¹ And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

³¹ He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet,^(Z) and they will gather His elect from the four winds,^(AA) from one end of the sky to the other.

³¹ He'll send out his angels with a loud trumpet blast, and they'll gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to another."

³³ I tell you truly, that this generation shall not pass away till all these things shall be accomplished.

³³ so, you too, when you see all these things, ^(u)recognize that ^(v)He is near, right ^(AR)at the ^(w)door.

³³ So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

³³ In the same way, when you see all these things, recognize^(o) that He^(p) is near—at the door!^(AC)

³³ In the same way, when you see all these things, you'll know that the Son of Man is near, right at the door.

³⁵ But of that day and hour no man knows, nor the angels of heaven; but my Father only.

^{35 (AT)}Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.

³⁵ Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

³⁵ Heaven and earth will pass away,^(AE) but My words will never pass away.^(AF)

³⁵ Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear."

³⁷ For as in the days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, till the day that Noah entered the ark,

³⁷ For ^(y)the ^(AV)coming of the Son of Man will be ^(AW)just like the days of Noah.

³⁷ But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

³⁷ As the days of Noah were, so the coming of the Son of Man will be.

³⁷ because just as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be when the Son of Man comes.

³⁹ Then two shall be in the field; one is taken and the other left.

³⁹ and they did not ^(z)understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the ^(AZ)coming of the Son of Man be.

³⁹ And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

³⁹ They didn’t know^(r) until the flood came and swept them all away. So this is the way the coming of the Son of Man will be:

³⁹ They were unaware of what was happening until the flood came and swept all of them away. That's how it will be when the Son of Man comes.

⁴¹ Watch, therefore, for you know not on what day your Lord comes,

^{41 (BA)}Two women will be grinding at the ^(ac)(BB)mill; one ^(ad)will be taken and one ^(ae)will be left.

⁴¹ Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

⁴¹ Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and one left.^(AI)

⁴¹ Two women will be grinding grain at the mill. One will be taken, and one will be left behind.

⁴³ Therefore be you also ready, for in such an hour as you think not the Son of man comes.

⁴³ But ^(af)be sure of this, that ^(BD)if the head of the house had known ^(BE)at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be ^(ag)broken into.

⁴³ But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

⁴³ But know this: If the homeowner had known what time^(t) the thief was coming, he would have stayed alert and not let his house be broken into.^(AK)

⁴³ But be sure of this: if the owner of the house had known when during the night the thief would be coming, he would have stayed awake and not allowed his house to be broken into.

⁴⁵ Blessed is that servant whom his Lord, when he comes, shall find so doing.

⁴⁵ “^(BH)Who then is the ^(BI)faithful and ^(BJ)sensible slave whom his ^(ah)master ^(BK)put in charge of his household to give them their food at the proper time?

⁴⁵ Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

⁴⁵ “Who then is a faithful and sensible slave,^(AM) whom his master has put in charge of his household, to give them food at the proper time?^(AN)

⁴⁵ "Who, then, is the faithful and wise servant whom his master has put in charge of his household to give the others their food at the right time?

⁴⁷ But if that evil servant says in his heart, My Lord delays his coming,

⁴⁷ Truly I say to you that ^(BL)he will put him in charge of all his possessions.

⁴⁷ Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

⁴⁷ I assure you: He will put him in charge of all his possessions.

⁴⁷ I tell all of you with certainty, he will put him in charge of all his property.

⁴⁹ the Lord of that servant will come on a day when he looks not for him, and at an hour that he knows not of,

⁴⁹ and begins to beat his fellow slaves and eat and drink with drunkards;

⁴⁹ And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

⁴⁹ and starts to beat his fellow slaves, and eats and drinks with drunkards,^(AP)

⁴⁹ and begins to beat his fellow servants and eat and drink with the drunks,
