The Sermon On The Mount: On Judging Others

11 "Do not judge so that you will not be judged.

11 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

11 "Do not judge, so that you won't be judged.

11 "Stop judging, so that you won't be judged,

11 Do not judge and criticize and condemn others, so that you may not be judged and criticized and condemned yourselves.

22 "For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.

22 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

22 For with the judgment you use, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

22 because the way that you judge others will be the way that you will be judged, and you will be evaluated by the standard with which you evaluate others.

22 For just as you judge and criticize and condemn others, you will be judged and criticized and condemned, and in accordance with the measure you [use to] deal out to others, it will be dealt out again to you.

33 "Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?

33 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

33 Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye but don't notice the log in your own eye?

33 "Why do you see the speck in your brother's eye but fail to notice the beam in your own eye?

33 Why do you stare from without at the very small particle that is in your brother's eye but do not become aware of and consider the beam of timber that is in your own eye?

44 "Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and behold, the log is in your own eye?

44 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

44 Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and look, there's a log in your eye?

44 Or how can you say to your brother, "Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when the beam is in your own eye?

44 Or how can you say to your brother, Let me get the tiny particle out of your eye, when there is the beam of timber in your own eye?

55 "You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

55 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

55 Hypocrite! First take the log out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

55 You hypocrite! First remove the beam from your own eye, and then you will see clearly enough to remove the speck from your brother's eye."

55 You hypocrite, first get the beam of timber out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the tiny particle out of your brother's eye.

Don'T Throw Pearls To Pigs

66 "Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.

66 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

66 Don't give what is holy to dogs or toss your pearls before pigs, or they will trample them with their feet, turn, and tear you to pieces.

66 "Never give what is holy to dogs or throw your pearls before pigs. Otherwise, they will trample them with their feet and then turn around and attack you."

66 Do not give that which is holy (the sacred thing) to the dogs, and do not throw your pearls before hogs, lest they trample upon them with their feet and turn and tear you in pieces.

The Sermon On The Mount: Ask, Seek, Knock

77 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

77 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

77 "Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you.

77 "Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened for you.

77 Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you.

88 "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

88 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

88 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who searches finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

88 Because everyone who keeps asking will receive, and the person who keeps searching will find, and the person who keeps knocking will have the door opened.

88 For everyone who keeps on asking receives; and he who keeps on seeking finds; and to him who keeps on knocking, [the door] will be opened.

99 "Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone?

99 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

99 What man among you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?

99 "There isn't a person among you who would give his son a stone if he asked for bread, is there?

99 Or what man is there of you, if his son asks him for a loaf of bread, will hand him a stone?

1010 "Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he?

1010 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

1010 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?

1010 Or if he asks for a fish, he wouldn't give him a snake, would he?

1010 Or if he asks for a fish, will hand him a serpent?

1111 "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!

1111 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

1111 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

1111 So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who keep on asking him!

1111 If you then, evil as you are, know how to give good and advantageous gifts to your children, how much more will your Father Who is in heaven [perfect as He is] give good and advantageous things to those who keep on asking Him!

The Golden Rule

1212 "In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

1212 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

1212 Therefore, whatever you want others to do for you, do also the same for them-this is the Law and the Prophets.

1212 Therefore, whatever you want people to do for you, do the same for them, because this summarizes the Law and the Prophets."

1212 So then, whatever you desire that others would do to and for you, even so do also to and for them, for this is (sums up) the Law and the Prophets.

The Sermon On The Mount: The Narrow Gate

1313 "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.

1313 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

1313 "Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who go through it.

1313 "Go in through the narrow gate, because the gate is wide and the road is spacious that leads to destruction, and many people are entering by it.

1313 Enter through the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and spacious and broad is the way that leads away to destruction, and many are those who are entering through it.

1414 "For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

1414 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

1414 How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it.

1414 How narrow is the gate and how constricted is the road that leads to life, and there aren't many people who find it!"

1414 But the gate is narrow (contracted by pressure) and the way is straitened and compressed that leads away to life, and few are those who find it.

The Sermon On The Mount: Recognizing False Prophets

1515 "Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

1515 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

1515 "Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravaging wolves.

1515 "Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are savage wolves.

1515 Beware of false prophets, who come to you dressed as sheep, but inside they are devouring wolves.

1616 "You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?

1616 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

1616 You'll recognize them by their fruit. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes or figs from thistles?

1616 You will know them by their fruit. Grapes aren't gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles, are they?

1616 You will fully recognize them by their fruits. Do people pick grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?

1717 "So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.

1717 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

1717 In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a bad tree produces bad fruit.

1717 In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a rotten tree produces bad fruit.

1717 Even so, every healthy (sound) tree bears good fruit [ worthy of admiration], but the sickly (decaying, worthless) tree bears bad (worthless) fruit.

1818 "A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.

1818 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

1818 A good tree can't produce bad fruit; neither can a bad tree produce good fruit.

1818 A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, and a rotten tree cannot produce good fruit.

1818 A good (healthy) tree cannot bear bad (worthless) fruit, nor can a bad (diseased) tree bear excellent fruit [worthy of admiration].

1919 "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

1919 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

1919 Every tree that doesn't produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

1919 Every tree that doesn't produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into a fire.

1919 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire.

2020 "So then, you will know them by their fruits.

2020 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

2020 So you'll recognize them by their fruit.

2020 So by their fruit you will know them."

2020 Therefore, you will fully know them by their fruits.

The Sermon On The Mount: False Followers

2121 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.

2121 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

2121 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord!' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but [only] the one who does the will of My Father in heaven.

2121 "Not everyone who keeps saying to me, "Lord, Lord,' will get into the kingdom from heaven, but only the person who keeps doing the will of my Father in heaven.

2121 Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven.

2222 "Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?'

2222 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

2222 On that day many will say to Me, 'Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy in Your name, drive out demons in Your name, and do many miracles in Your name?'

2222 Many will say to me on that day, "Lord, Lord, we prophesied in your name, drove out demons in your name, and performed many miracles in your name, didn't we?'

2222 Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name and driven out demons in Your name and done many mighty works in Your name?

2323 "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'

2323 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

2323 Then I will announce to them, 'I never knew you! Depart from Me, you lawbreakers! '

2323 Then I will tell them plainly, "I never knew you. Get away from me, you who practice evil!'"

2323 And then I will say to them openly (publicly), I never knew you; depart from Me, you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands].

The Sermon On The Mount: Two Houses And Two Foundations

2424 "Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.

2424 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

2424 "Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on the rock.

2424 "Therefore, everyone who listens to these messages of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on a rock.

2424 So everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts upon them [obeying them] will be like a sensible (prudent, practical, wise) man who built his house upon the rock.

2525 "And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.

2525 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

2525 The rain fell, the rivers rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn't collapse, because its foundation was on the rock.

2525 The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, but it did not collapse because its foundation was on the rock.

2525 And the rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.

2626 "Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.

2626 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

2626 But everyone who hears these words of Mine and doesn't act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.

2626 "Everyone who keeps on hearing these messages of mine and never puts them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.

2626 And everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not do them will be like a stupid (foolish) man who built his house upon the sand.

2727 "The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell--and great was its fall."

2727 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

2727 The rain fell, the rivers rose, the winds blew and pounded that house, and it collapsed. And its collapse was great!"

2727 The rain fell, the floods came, the winds blew and battered that house, and it collapsed and its collapse was total."

2727 And the rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell -- "and great and complete was the fall of it.

The Sermon On The Mount: Response

2828 When Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were amazed at His teaching;

2828 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:

2828 When Jesus had finished this sermon, the crowds were astonished at His teaching,

2828 When Jesus had finished saying all these things, the crowds were utterly amazed at his teaching,

2828 When Jesus had finished these sayings [the Sermon on the Mount], the crowds were astonished and overwhelmed with bewildered wonder at His teaching,

2929 for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.

2929 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

2929 because He was teaching them like one who had authority, and not like their scribes.

2929 because he was teaching them like a person who had authority, and not like their scribes.

2929 For He was teaching as One Who had [and was] authority, and not as [did] the scribes.
