And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
Now Jesus stood before [Pilate] the governor, and the governor asked Him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” [In affirmation] Jesus said to him,
Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?
But, to Pilate's great astonishment, he would not answer him a single word.
Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?
Then while he was seated in Pilate's courtroom of justice, Pilate's wife sent [word] to him, saying, "You should have nothing to do with that innocent man. For I was very troubled in a dream over him today." [Note: That is, she was troubled over a dream she had before waking up that morning].
So when Pilate said to them, "Which of the two do you want me to release unto you?" they said, "Barabbas."
Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.
"Why, what crime has he committed?" asked Pilate. But they kept on furiously shouting, "Let him be crucified!"
When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
The Pilate released Barabbas to them; but Jesus he scourged, and gave him up to be crucified.
Then the governor's soldiers took Jesus to Pilate's headquarters and assembled the entire company [i.e., about men] in front of Him.
And in the evening, there came a rich man of Arimathea, whose name was Joseph, who also himself was a disciple of Jesus, and went to Pilate,
He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.
Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.

But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowds that they should beg for Barabbas, and destroy Jesus. And the governor answering said to them, Which of the two will ye that I release unto you? And they said, Barabbas. Pilate says to them, What then shall I do with Jesus, who is called Christ? They all say, Let him be crucified. And the governor said, What evil then has he done? But they cried more than ever, saying, Let him be crucified. And Pilate, seeing that it availed nothing, but that rather a tumult was arising, having taken water, washed his hands before the crowd, saying, I am guiltless of the blood of this righteous one: see ye to it. And all the people answering said, His blood be on us and on our children. Then he released to them Barabbas; but Jesus, having scourged him, he delivered up that he might be crucified.
Having chastised him therefore, I will release him. ( Now he was obliged to release one for them at the feast.) But they cried out in a mass saying, Away with this man and release Barabbas to us; who was one who, for a certain tumult which had taken place in the city, and for murder, had been cast into prison. Pilate therefore, desirous to release Jesus, again addressed them. But they cried out in reply saying, Crucify, crucify him. And he said the third time to them, What evil then has this man done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will chastise him therefore and release him. But they were urgent with loud voices, begging that he might be crucified. And their voices and those of the chief priests prevailed. And Pilate adjudged that what they begged should take place.
and went into the praetorium again and says to Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer. Pilate therefore says to him, Speakest thou not to me? Dost thou not know that I have authority to release thee and have authority to crucify thee? Jesus answered, Thou hadst no authority whatever against me if it were not given to thee from above. On this account he that has delivered me up to thee has the greater sin. From this time Pilate sought to release him; but the Jews cried out saying, If thou releasest this man, thou art not a friend to Caesar. Every one making himself a king speaks against Caesar. Pilate therefore, having heard these words, led Jesus out and sat down upon the judgment-seat, at a place called Pavement, but in Hebrew Gabbatha;
